Heretic Trainer: The Gym Is My Cultivation Method
Chapter 697: Garion Meets Candidate OdrenGarion glanced toward the distant planets for a moment.
Even from where he floated, he could sense Dahlia’s disaster dragons tearing through one world avatar, while Arden, Mersha, Valtor, and Seira were starting to stabilize against the other.
The pressure from those world avatars was still terrifying, but his disciples had not collapsed.
Garion’s mouth slowly curved. "It seems my disciples can handle themselves."
Atlas’s voice sounded inside his mind.
[For now.]
Garion ignored the warning and looked back at Lord Vornak. "See that, big guy? Even your fake world monsters can’t clean up my disciples."
Lord Vornak’s already ugly expression became even darker.
Garion tilted his head and continued mockingly, "What happened? I thought you borrowed the power of a world. Don’t tell me this is all you can do after draining your own people and shaking half your planets."
The world patterns across Lord Vornak’s body flared violently. "You talk too much."
Garion laughed. "Yeah, I get that a lot."
Deep inside Vornak World, Odren’s consciousness watched everything through the trembling World Will.
His ancient mind frowned. "As expected of another candidate. His power is not normal."
Garion was only at the Star Realm, yet he could fight Lord Vornak, who had already reached a level comparable to the Celestial Realm through borrowed world authority.
Odren’s invisible gaze became colder. "Fine. If using a child of the World Will is not enough, then I will move personally."
The moment that thought appeared, the deeper parts of Vornak World shook.
RUMBLE!
The connection between Odren and the World Will began tearing apart.
Countless invisible roots snapped one after another as Odren separated his remaining consciousness from the world itself.
It was reckless and dangerous.
The moment he split away from the World Will, he would lose part of the authority that had kept him alive for countless years.
Odren did not care.
As long as he completed the mission, his system would give him [Body Reconstruction].
Once that happened, he could leave this damn world behind and return to the candidate competition.
A dark stream of ancient consciousness shot upward from the depths of Vornak World and descended directly into Lord Vornak’s body.
Lord Vornak’s eyes suddenly went blank.
A second later, they lit up with a completely different intelligence.
Garion’s smile slowly faded.
The aura in front of him had changed.
It was still Lord Vornak’s body, still wrapped in planetary power and world authority, but the person looking out through those eyes was no longer the same brutal ruler from before.
Garion stared at him for a moment, then slowly raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Atlas’s voice turned heavy inside his mind.
[Garion.]
Garion’s purple-black gravity lines pulsed beneath his skin. "Yeah, I know."
The massive body of Lord Vornak looked at him with ancient, cold awareness.
Garion’s mouth curved again, but this time the mockery was sharper. "So you finally came out."
His gaze locked onto the unfamiliar intelligence inside Lord Vornak’s eyes. "Odren."
---
Odren frowned.
The massive body of Lord Vornak floated in front of Garion, but the eyes staring out from that face clearly no longer belonged to the original ruler.
Those eyes were ancient, cold, and filled with a kind of hatred that had been rotting for countless years.
"How do you know my name?" Odren asked.
Garion’s mouth curved slightly. "Just shut up."
Odren’s expression darkened.
Garion casually rolled his shoulders, purple-black gravity lines pulsing beneath his skin. "You also know my name, right? You learned it from your system."
Odren said nothing.
Garion’s grin widened. "After all, we’re both candidates."
The surrounding space became quieter.
For a moment, only the rumbling of Vornak World could be heard.
Odren stared at Garion for several seconds before finally giving a low laugh. "I see. So your system told you about me as well."
Garion shrugged. "Something like that."
Odren’s gaze became colder. "Then there is no need to pretend anymore."
World authority surged around his stolen body, wrapping Lord Vornak’s massive frame in dark planetary patterns. "We are both candidates in this brutal competition."
His voice became heavier. "One of us survives. One of us becomes a reward for the other."
Garion chuckled. "Sounds about right."
Odren slowly raised one hand, and several ancient artifacts appeared around him.
Garion raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You still have some artifacts, huh? From the system, right?"
Odren’s cold expression did not change. "Before I lost my body, I was also a candidate. Do you think I survived this long with nothing?"
A cracked tablet floated behind him.
[Mountain Suppression Tablet]
A bone-white ring slid onto his finger.
[Dead Soul Ring]
A dark bronze spearhead fused into his arm.
[World Piercing Spearhead]
A gray orb sank into his chest.
[Foundation Strengthening Core]
Odren’s aura instantly changed again.
His already terrifying body grew even heavier, and the world authority around him became sharper, denser, and far more dangerous.
Atlas’s voice sounded inside Garion’s mind.
[Careful. Those are system items.]
Garion’s eyes brightened instead of becoming cautious. "Nice."
[That was not praise.]
Garion ignored him.
Odren raised one hand.
"[Mountain Suppression Art]."
RUMBLE!
A massive invisible weight crashed down on Garion from every direction.
Space around him bent violently.
Garion’s body sank slightly, but his knees did not bend.
Odren’s eyes sharpened.
Garion slowly lifted his head. "Not bad."
The next instant, Odren vanished.
The bronze spearhead on his arm glowed with dark light as he appeared in front of Garion.
"[World Piercing Strike]."
BOOOOM!
Garion crossed both arms, and purple-black gravity gathered into a shield.
The spearhead stabbed into it, tearing through layer after layer of compressed gravity.
Garion was pushed backward, his arms trembling slightly.
Odren followed immediately, his other hand carrying pale soul energy from the [Dead Soul Ring].
"[Soul Burial Palm]."
Garion’s eyes sharpened.
He twisted the gravity around his body and pulled himself sideways.
The palm missed his head by a hair, but the soul pressure still brushed against him and made his mind buzz for a second.
Garion clicked his tongue. "Damn. Annoying."
Odren’s expression remained cold. "You are strong, but you are inexperienced."
Garion laughed softly. "Maybe."
Purple-black gravity exploded around his fists. "But I learn fast."
