Chapter 39: [39] Loving Mana--Chapter 39--
Title: Loving Mana
A little while later after maintaining the stance. Solaria allowed Takeshi understand that it was only for the time being.
Once he understood is pathways more. He wouldn’t need special stance to enhance his flow.
Looking back at both Nyxara and Lana. Who didn’t object
She turned to Takeshi, a broad and calm smile still anchored her face.
"Time to learn sensing," She said.
Takeshi relaxed his stance and flexed his steeled fingers once. Before straightening up a little.
"How do we start?"
"We?" Nyxara chipped in jokingly. "You are on your own."
Takeshi shook his head. He was well aware this was her attempt to tease him.
Lana simply crossed her hand over her chest. Her mind seemed to be somewhere else or maybe she was still working on surveillance of the manor.
"I’m fairly certain, your Minor Mana sensory has already emerged. Right?"
Takeshi nodded. Remembering the skill as the only other skill he possessed right now.
"Let’s get you accustomed to it first," Solaria smiled. Seemingly enjoying this a lot more than Takeshi expected.
"Close your eyes," she said. Takeshi did as directed. Shutting his eyes.
"Now...ignore every other sense and let the emptiness speak."
’Okay...that is some fantasy bullshit.’ Takeshi thought.
But wasn’t all of this fantasy at the end of the day? Who would have thought he would fuck a Demoness and now train with an angel?
He did as he was told.
At first, there was nothing he could separate from the ordinary awareness of his own body.
He could feel his breathing, the weight in his legs, the warmth of the room, and the faint movement of air against his skin.
But then something tugging at his chest made him focus deeper.
Thirty seconds later, the sensation changed. Something faint seemed to sit beneath his lower abdomen.
It wasn’t something he could see, and he wasn’t sure whether calling it a presence was even accurate.
It felt more like a swelling, something gathered inside him that became easier to notice the longer he stopped trying to force it.
His attention followed it like law. And from there, he noticed thin sensations extending outward through his body.
They reminded him of the way mana pathways were usually described in anime and stories, although the reality was considerably less convenient than anything he’d seen on a screen.
Some areas felt clear, while others felt rough and uneven, as though his attempts at controlling himself had left behind tension he hadn’t noticed before.
Solaria raised one hand. And a faint concentration of glowing golden mana gathered around her fingers.
Takeshi felt it at that range and immediately opened his eyes.
"I felt that," He said more to himself than her.
"Good. That means the skill is responding. "
She suddenly smothered the golden mana by forming a fist. "Now hold your own."
Takeshi looked down at his palm. "Without seeing it?"
Solaria nodded, "You don’t need to see it to control it."
Truth be told, that was easier said than done. Takeshi immediately took the stance that helped with better flow and concentrated again.
According to Solaria. This next step was called Moulding. Or in this case. Soft moulding. Since he was a complete novice.
Solaria explained that he should gather only a small amount of mana. No more than he could comfortably maintain.
According to her, there was no reason to force a result simply because he could produce more power.
Takeshi gathered the energy and with the stance, it immediately spread farther than he intended.
The pressure reached toward his wrist and began slipping away from the center of his palm.
"Too much at once," Solaria gestured by waving her fingers.
Takeshi tightened his focus. Letting some mana slip away and then the mana contracted.
Then it trembled viciously.
"Now, that’s too hard."
She moved closer and rested her soft, fair hand below his own.
This easily eased the pressure. And the sensation changed again.
The mana remained gathered in his palm. As Takeshi employed the breathing technique.
One breath. Two breathes and on the fourth, the shape began to lose its stability.
Takeshi released it as it threatened to explode.
Solaria removed her hand from underneath his and nodded once.
Takeshi excitedly did it again. The second attempt lasted longer. And the third was cleaner.
The fourth failed for a different reason, and that was when Takeshi began to understand what she had been trying to teach him.
He wasn’t supposed to force the mana around. He just needed to guide the amount he could handle where he wanted it.
He was simply suppose to love it. And hope it loved him enough to follow.
By the fifth attempt, his collars, armpits and forehead was wet with the slick of sweat.
On the sixth, Solaria stepped closer and raised a hand.
"Stop."
Takeshi released the moulding immediately. His eyes bright with misunderstanding.
"What?"
She didn’t answer immediately. Her attention had shifted from his palm to the rest of his body.
Her eyes moved from his chest to his abdomen, then back toward the faint pressure that had lingered around his hand.
Something about her expression had changed. She wasn’t afraid. More like she was uncertain.
"...Again," she said.
Takeshi frowned. "Again?!"
"Slower this time. Do not shape it. Just gather it and hold it," she gave out clear instructions.
For some weird reason, he understood exactly she was meant. He nodded.
The next attempt began more carefully. Takeshi gathered a small amount of mana and resisted the instinct to force it into shape.
Instead, he watched what happened. The pressure moved around and through him.
It didn’t behave exactly like he expected. Instead it stuck out, moving in different directions like water.
Nothing definite and yet not completely shapeless. Just not any shape he knew about from earth.
Solaria, Nyxara and even now, Lana’s attention remained fixed on him for the first time since they started.
For several seconds, none of them spoke. As if observing a unique phenomenon.
Then Solaria inhaled softly. "Master."
Takeshi looked at her. The sweat on his forehead suddenly felt like a tap was running directly on his head.
"What is it?" He asked." I hope I am not so crippled protagonist." He pleaded inwardly.
Solaria’s fingers hovered near his wrist without touching them.
"Something is odd about your core."
Oh shit...
