High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 499: Joint AttackXu Wuyi released the spear shaft with his left hand, his five fingers forming a knife-hand as he sliced horizontally toward the attacking claw’s wrist.
At the same time, he once again mobilized the Gravity Rules in his consciousness, condensing a miniature region of gravitational collapse in front of his knife-hand.
Before the Blood Shadow’s claw could reach Xu Wuyi’s midsection, it slammed into the collapsed region first.
The invisible gravitational pull shifted the claw’s trajectory inward by three inches.
That three-inch shift was all it took for Xu Wuyi’s knife-hand to slice precisely into the seam between the scales on its wrist.
SCHLICK—!
Dark red scales shattered and flew as pale skin was sliced open, splattering blood.
The Blood Shadow reeled from the pain, hastily retracting its claw and pulling back.
Xu Wuyi pressed his advantage, relentlessly pulling back his spear with his right hand. The butt of the spear whipped toward his opponent’s temple while he simultaneously lifted his left foot, aiming a low sweeping kick at the back of the enemy’s knee.
He attacked high and low.
The Blood Shadow’s wings beat frantically as its body floated backward, narrowly avoiding both strikes.
But Xu Wuyi’s assault was incessant. The long spear in his hand became a blur of dark gold light—thrusts, sweeps, upward flicks, and chops. Each technique was accompanied by a shift in the Gravity Field, variously pulling, suppressing, or deflecting his foe.
In just three seconds, they exchanged seventeen blows.
Xu Wuyi’s Spear Momentum was like a torrential downpour, the dark gold afterimages of his weapon weaving a deadly web over the surface of the sea.
This scene unfolded with perfect clarity before the eyes of every spectator.
High above the sea, Han Mo, Tie Zhan, and Lu Wenquan, all locked in fierce combat, glimpsed the battle below and were profoundly shaken.
Han Mo forced his opponent back with a single sword strike, a rare ripple of emotion passing over his stern face.
He knew his student was exceptionally talented, with combat strength far beyond others at his level—he could even threaten those at the Second King rank.
But to see Xu Wuyi with his own eyes—fighting two of the Blood Sacrifice Divine Hall’s aces alone, not only surviving their masterful combined attacks but maintaining a perfect balance of offense and defense, wielding Gravity and Flame as if it were second nature... This still exceeded his most optimistic predictions.
It wasn’t reliance on brute force or luck, but a genuine understanding and command over the very essence of power—a form of combat artistry that was almost instinctual.
Tie Zhan sent two Feathered People Second Kings reeling with a swing of his hammer and found a moment to roar, "Hell of a kid!"
His voice was booming, filled with unabashed glee and excitement.
Tie Zhan had a bold and fiery personality and loved nothing more than a brutal, head-on clash.
For Xu Wuyi, an Innate warrior, to face two powerful enemies skilled in coordinated attacks and display not only strength but also ferocity and tenacity—this was exactly the kind of fight Tie Zhan loved to see.
He even felt that when it came to the sheer will to fight, erupting in such a desperate situation, many veteran Quasi-Grandmasters couldn’t compare.
Lu Wenquan maintained the barrier, his eyes rapidly analyzing battlefield data from behind his glasses.
On his tablet, the curve representing Xu Wuyi’s Energy Fluctuation, though fluctuating wildly, never dropped below a resilient baseline.
What shocked him even more was the frequency and precision of the Gravity Field’s shifts. They were synchronized with nearly every attack and movement of the two Blood Wing twins; his Prejudgment and interference were executed to perfection.
’Incredible computational ability and control...’ he muttered. ’This is beyond the realm of simple Martial Arts. Xu Wuyi has made combat itself an instinct.’
As for the Feathered People, their shock was even greater.
The six Second King Level experts locked in combat with the human Quasi-Grandmasters still spared some of their attention for the core battle, despite the intensity of their own fights.
The Blood Wing twins were one of their trump cards. They should have crushed their opponent with ease, yet now they were locked in a stalemate, even faintly suppressed by that bizarre Gravity Field and its periodic bursts of Flame.
This filled them with dread. ’Could Lord Helos’s meticulously planned killing gambit be failing at the very first step?’
Further away, inside Broken Star Castle, a dead silence had fallen over the Feathered People commanders and Priests who were watching the battlefield through a scrying ritual.
Many faces were pale, their fingers trembling slightly.
They had personally witnessed their warriors on the perimeter being mercilessly wiped out. Now, seeing the Blood Wing twins unable to secure a victory, an emotion—fear—began to spread silently among them, cold as the sea itself.
Xu Wuyi was fighting one against two, and he wasn’t losing.
The impact of this simple fact reverberated across the entire battlefield like a clap of thunder.
At that moment, the scales of the entire battle seemed to tremble, shifted by him and him alone.
Xu Wuyi was uninjured; he wasn’t going to be defeated anytime soon.
The longer they fought, the more alarmed the two Blood Wing twins became.
Before their arrival, their orders had been to "kill Xu Wuyi at all costs." They had assumed it would be a swift and decisive kill.
But reality was completely different.
The human youth before them was clearly only in the Innate Realm. His reserves of Spiritual Power were far smaller than theirs, yet his application of that power was masterful to a terrifying degree.
He had elevated Gravity Manipulation to an art form.
At times, he suppressed them, making their movements sluggish. At others, he pulled at them, causing their attacks to stray. Then he would create gravitational collapses, forcibly yanking them from their positions.
Even more terrifying was his combat intuition.
Every attack and every dodge seemed to anticipate their movements. The coordination between his spear and his limbs was seamless, as if every inch of his body were a weapon.
’We can’t drag this out any longer.’
The eyes of the Blood Shadow on the left hardened, and it exchanged a look with its twin on the right.
The two retreated simultaneously, putting distance between them and Xu Wuyi.
Their blood-red wings spread wide as a dark-red aura rose from their bodies. It converged and intertwined in the air, finally forming a blood-red vortex ten meters in diameter.
At the center of the vortex, the phantom of a savage, blood-colored beast was faintly visible.
"Blood Sacrifice · Soul Fusion."
The low words emanated from both of them at once.
The blood-red vortex spun violently, emitting a terrifying pressure that stained the surrounding seawater a dark red.
Xu Wuyi’s pupils shrank.
He could feel that the power of this attack was far greater than anything they had used before.
The auras of the two Blood Wing twins had completely fused. Their energy level instantly skyrocketed, reaching a state that was infinitesimally close to the Grandmaster Level.
This was a move of last resort.
"Kid, fall back!"
Han Mo’s voice echoed from high above, laced with a rare urgency.
He tried to pull away to help, but the Feathered People Second King he had been suppressing suddenly exploded with power. Its gray-white wings ignited with ghastly white Flame as it ignored its own injuries to desperately keep him entangled.
"Thinking of leaving? You’ll have to get through me first!"
Tie Zhan was also locked in a bitter struggle.
Two melee-type Second Kings were attacking with frenzied desperation, as if possessed, adopting a strategy of trading injury for injury.
Though Tie Zhan was ferocious, he too was bogged down and couldn’t break free.
Cracks began to appear on Lu Wenquan’s barrier.
Three Priest-type Second Kings were simultaneously burning their Life Force, unleashing a barrage of curses far more powerful than usual. The barrier shuddered violently. A trickle of blood seeped from the corner of Lu Wenquan’s mouth, but he gritted his teeth and held on.
Everyone was pinned down.
The blood-red vortex spun rapidly as the blurry beast phantom within it gradually solidified, revealing dark red scales, jagged bone spurs, and a single eye burning with blood-red Flame...
A suffocating pressure, so tangible it felt physical, pressed down upon the sea’s surface.
Xu Wuyi felt his breath catch. The air around him turned as thick as glue.
He tightened his grip on the Liaoyuan Long Spear. A dark gold Flame erupted from the shaft and, twisted by the Gravity Field, formed a spiraling barrier of fire around him.
’But this alone won’t be enough.’
His instincts were screaming. This was a combined attack that could genuinely threaten a Grandmaster Level expert. ’If that thing hits me,’ he thought, ’I’ll be severely wounded, if not killed outright.’
Within his consciousness, the Dark Gold Mountain Body trembled violently, and the Golden Crow Illusion atop its peak let out a long, shrill cry.
Xu Wuyi took a deep breath, unleashing the Power of his Heart Image without reservation. He prepared to weather the blow head-on, determined to tear open a path for a counterattack even from the brink of disaster.
The mouth of the Blood Shadow on the left curled into a vicious grin, revealing deathly white teeth. The one on the right clasped its hands, and the blood-red vortex began to contract toward its center—the precursor to the attack.
Just as the attack was about to be unleashed—
VMMMM—!
Three entirely distinct Energy Fluctuations descended from three different directions at once.
