Chapter 358 - Thunderbolt

"What is going on out there?"

Looking at the thunderclouds gathering in the distant sky, Hyakinthos stared with uncertainty at the streaks of lightning.

He was not the only one. The high level adventurers surrounding him were equally bewildered.

To the participating members, a war game was a life or death conflict that demanded total commitment.

But to the rest of Orario, especially the bored gods who thrived on chaos, it was nothing more than entertainment.

It was a grand festival.

Because it was a spectacle, weather was always taken into consideration.

The gods would specifically select a clear, sunny day for the war game to begin, ensuring the entire city was swept up in a festive atmosphere.

Their ability to read the weather far surpassed any mundane forecast, and mistakes were unheard of.

Under normal circumstances, the day of a war game was guaranteed to offer bright skies and warm sunshine.

So what was happening over there?

Even though his sharp eyes could tell that the storm clouds were still a short distance from the base of the Apollo familia, clouds thick enough to block out the sky were hardly a sign of good fortune.

Especially right now, on the eve of battle.

The entire situation felt wrong.

As lightning tore through the atmosphere and thunder rolled across the horizon, the dark clouds cast a massive shadow over everyone present.

Every adventurer in the hall turned toward the window, drawn by the disturbance.

A heavy pressure slowly settled across the throne room.

"Maybe it is just an unusual storm?" one adventurer offered with a strained chuckle, though even he sounded unconvinced.

"Send out warnings and raise our guard," Hyakinthos commanded, tearing his eyes away from the sky with a grim look.

"Not even a fly gets through. Report any movement immediately. We cannot give Mahiro a single opening."

He did not know if this unnatural phenomenon was linked to Mahiro, but caution was necessary regardless.

Meanwhile, at the castle of the Ishtar familia.

As a top tier faction in Orario, their numbers and overall strength vastly surpassed those of the Apollo familia.

Consequently, the guards and scouts stationed along their fortress walls were far more numerous.

Furthermore, because the captain of the Ishtar familia was a level 5 adventurer, they did not need to keep most of their elite forces inside as bodyguards like Hyakinthos had to.

They had plenty of troops to spare.

Yet, compared to the tense guards of the Apollo familia, the fighters of the Ishtar familia were far more relaxed.

"Look at those careless fools," Aisha said, leaning against the ramparts.

She wore her usual revealing outfit, a thin layer of cloth draped across her chest, with a massive blade resting nearby, looking every bit the warrior prepared for combat.

"Who cares?" the short-haired Amazon standing beside her replied casually, staring out at the landscape.

"We have already won this war game anyway. Besides, the Hestia familia has to deal with the Apollo familia first."

"It will take them two or three days to finish that fight before they even get to us."

In other words, while Mahiro fought the Apollo familia, the Ishtar familia could simply rest and conserve their strength.

"Is that so?" Aisha glanced at her companion. "Don’t forget, the Sword Princess is with them this time."

"Who knows, maybe the Apollo familia will actually beat the Hestia familia first," the short-haired girl teased, sticking out her tongue.

She knew how unlikely that was, of course.

She had gone to the Hestia familia home with Aisha and watched Mahiro overpower Aisha effortlessly, without using a single skill or spell.

Against someone like that, as long as Mahiro stayed sharp, wiping out the Apollo familia would be trivial.

"Leave that little doll to me," a harsh, ugly voice grunted from behind them.

Phryne approached, her heavy steps shaking the stone beneath her. "Once I tie down the Sword Princess, are you telling me the rest of you cannot even handle a level 2 brat?"

The casual atmosphere on the wall vanished the moment the captain of the Ishtar familia appeared.

"As the main commander, should you not be waiting in the throne room?" Aisha said, turning to face the massive, repulsive figure.

"Are you not afraid of getting picked off out here?"

"Do you think I’m weak like you?" Phryne glared. "I’m the strongest warrior in the Ishtar familia."

"Try not to get beaten into the dirt by the Sword Princess and embarrass Lady Ishtar," Aisha replied coolly.

"Just make sure you don’t get humiliated by that boy Mahiro. The whole city is watching us," Phryne mocked, her eyes filled with disdain.

Aisha frowned, choosing to ignore her and looking back out toward the distance.

"Aisha, look over there! What is that?" the short-haired girl suddenly shouted, pointing toward the horizon.

In what should have been a clear sky, dark clouds were rapidly gathering, churning with thunder and lightning that shook the air itself.

Even from miles away, the low rumble of thunder echoed distinctly.

Jagged bolts of lightning struck down from the heavens, blasting the ground below.

"What is going on?"

"Where did those thunderclouds come from? They look terrifying."

"Is someone casting high tier magic?"

The sudden storm looked entirely unnatural, far more like the work of powerful magic than a natural phenomenon.

"Send two scouts over there right now," Phryne snapped.

"Find out what is happening."
