How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World
Chapter 295: Incomprehensible ThreadA small red thread was conjured before him. The thread emanated unbridled beastly power. It belonged to the Heaven Devouring Tiger, the King Beast that was still being relentlessly pummeled by Wei Chen.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign reached out with his left hand and once again channeled his power, this time attempting to conjure another thread.
But after a moment passed, no thread appeared.
He increased his power further.
"Hm?"
He tilted his head. Although the golden mask completely concealed his expression, it could not hide the confusion that slipped into his voice.
He turned his gaze toward the mirror displaying the situation in the Lower Realm.
Wei Chen was still there, still relentlessly pummeling the Heaven Devouring Tiger.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign raised his left hand once more. This time, the air grew heavy and solemn. Staring into the mirror, he slowly reached out and closed his eyes, attempting to sense the fluctuations and movements of fate once again.
Amidst the Sea of Fate, where countless threads of fate wove together like waves upon the ocean, he could clearly feel and sense each thread as though they were gentle winds brushing against his skin. The sensation was substantial, yet intangible.
To make a thread of fate tangible, he had to use his cultivation technique to perceive it and gradually draw it into a form that he could grasp.
This process was difficult and consumed a portion of his spiritual qi. The stronger the target, the more difficult it became. That difficulty multiplied even further if the target had influenced many lives or their fate had become deeply intertwined with the fates of others.
The more people a target affected, the more difficult it became to make that person’s thread of fate tangible and manipulate it.
For example, the Immortal Emperor.
It was impossible for him to make the Immortal Emperor’s thread of fate tangible, much less manipulate it.
But... this man...
A mere cultivator from the Lower Realm.
Even if this man was one of Heaven’s Chosen, it should not have been any more difficult than dealing with an ordinary powerhouse.
The fate of Heaven’s Chosen was powerful because the laws of Heaven and Earth had ordained it to be so.
But the laws of Heaven and Earth were like flowing water and moving air. If one understood them well enough, they could be shaped or even put to use.
Like water, humans built waterwheels to harness its power. Like the wind, they built windmills to make use of its endless currents.
The principle behind his cultivation method was the same as those ingenious inventions created by humanity.
It was simply far more profound and infinitely more complicated.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign increased his power, expending more spiritual qi as he attempted to locate the thread of fate belonging to Heaven’s Chosen.
But it was useless.
Like motionless air that could neither be seen nor felt, he could not perceive it at all. Even when he stirred the Sea of Fate, he could sense the threads belonging to countless others...
But not this man.
What happened?
This was the first time the Fate Weaving Sovereign had been unable to locate someone from the Lower Realm.
This shouldn’t have been possible...
Wait...
The Fate Weaving Sovereign looked at his right hand, where he still clutched the Heaven Devouring Tiger’s thread of fate.
It was beginning to fade.
The thread gradually became intangible, slowly slipping from his grasp.
A trace of panic flashed through him.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign immediately channeled more of his power, trying to make the thread tangible once again.
But...
He could clearly feel it.
The King Beast’s thread of fate continued to grow more and more intangible. With every passing moment, it became increasingly difficult for him to maintain his grip on it.
Then he looked back at the mirror.
He noticed it.
Every time Wei Chen’s fist landed on the Heaven Devouring Tiger, the thread of fate became harder for him to grasp.
It was too much of a coincidence.
He even began counting the rhythm.
Every punch that landed made the thread weaken just a little more.
"This... impossible... how!?"
For the first time in more than three hundred thousand years, the Fate Weaving Sovereign experienced something he could not comprehend.
A fate beyond his perception.
A thread that refused to be grasped.
It was as though he had returned to his youth, when he had first begun cultivating the Fate Weaving Divine Scripture.
Noticing this pattern, and seeing the thread in his right hand begin to fade once again, he knew he could not afford to waste any more time.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign immediately channeled all of his power and began weaving the fate of the Heaven Devouring Tiger.
But...
The thread was stretched taut.
It was incredibly difficult to weave, like a fragile strand that could snap at any moment.
If it broke, then so would the fate of the Heaven Devouring Tiger. Even if the beast itself did not die, he could forget about ever grasping that thread of fate again.
Thus...
The Fate Weaving Sovereign poured more and more of his power into the thread.
But the thread had already reached its limit.
Then, a resolute light flashed within his eyes.
His left hand rose and struck his own chest.
Spurt!
Blood burst from his chest. Mixed within it was his essence blood, which the thread voraciously absorbed.
The Fate Weaving Sovereign could clearly feel the Heaven Devouring Tiger’s thread of fate growing stronger. It also became much easier to weave.
He quickly shaped it into the form he desired. As he continued weaving, the thread became stronger and more stable.
But every time Wei Chen’s fist landed...
It weakened again.
With each punch, the thread became a little fainter.
Then...
After a brief moment, he finally completed the weaving.
The thread transformed into the shape of the true Heaven Devouring Tiger.
The moment the weaving process was complete, the thread of fate settled into place.
A brilliant light shone as the newly woven fate took effect upon the River of Fate.
...
On the battlefield, Wei Chen continued pummeling the Heaven Devouring King Beast, which was now bleeding profusely as his fists had finally begun to take effect.
Even if its hide remained unbroken, blunt force trauma did not care whether the skin was pierced or not. Every punch still transmitted tremendous kinetic force through the tiger’s skull and into its fragile internal organs.
Its blood vessels had already ruptured beyond repair, and its skull had fractured in multiple places.
Finally, Wei Chen brought both fists down in a devastating double hammer strike onto the tiger’s face before stopping.
"Hmm... if only a fighter jet flew past right now, that would be perfect..." Wei Chen muttered, once again speaking his usual nonsense as he recalled a scene from a certain anime, where a certain loving superhero father taught his superhero son the true importance of their power.
"Ah... such a lovely scene," he said with a sigh.
Thinking about it, he found himself missing Earth’s pop culture once again.
While Wei Chen’s thoughts wandered into his usual nonsense, a brilliant light suddenly shone from the Heaven Devouring Tiger’s body.
BOOM!
A tremendous burst of power erupted from the radiant light, throwing Wei Chen off the tiger’s chest.
He quickly stabilized himself in midair, immediately dismissing his wandering thoughts as his gaze locked onto the tiger before him.
He noticed that its body was clearly shrinking. The silhouette within the light was becoming more and more humanoid.
Wei Chen didn’t wait for whatever was about to emerge to finish transforming.
He gathered all of his strength and unleashed his killing move, the Underworld Bone Claw.
Channeling all of his power into his claw, stopping only short of summoning the Avatar of Death, he shot toward the glowing silhouette and slashed with everything he had.
BOOM!
The claw struck true.
But contrary to his expectations, instead of cleaving through the target, it merely slammed into the glowing silhouette and sent it crashing into the mountainside.
BOOOOM!
"Seriously, how tough can that beast’s hide be!?" Wei Chen muttered.
He had a feeling this damn tiger wasn’t going to die that easily.
Sure enough, as the smoke gradually dissipated, a lone muscular figure walked out from within the cloud of dust.
He stood nearly two and a half meters tall. His iron-like crimson muscles were tightly coiled, hinting at the explosive strength hidden within that powerful physique.
The man wore a savage grin. His long, fiery hair resembled a lion’s mane, making him look more like a barbarian than a cultivator.
He wore nothing but a pair of dark trousers with a tiger pelt wrapped around his waist.
However, across that iron-like body was a vivid crimson claw mark.
It was the wound Wei Chen had carved into those steel-like muscles only moments earlier.
"Hahahahaha! Heaven is on my side, human! I finally broke through and evolved into the complete primordial bloodline of my ancestors!" the man laughed loudly, now completely confident that he could defeat this powerful human.
This was the Heaven Devouring Tiger’s human form. Its bloodline had undergone a tremendous evolution, all thanks to the Fate Weaving Sovereign.
But... neither he nor Wei Chen knew that.
