Hunt Race

Chapter 133: Return

Kael made his way back through the forest, following the path he had taken earlier. The deeper he moved away from the center, the lighter the pressure became, and the familiar sounds of the forest slowly returned. Birds began calling from the branches again, while the occasional rustle of smaller beasts could be heard among the bushes.

He eventually reached the clearing where he had fought the beast.

Kael slowed as he stepped inside.

The beast's massive corpse was still lying where it had fallen, its bronze aura completely gone. Deep claw marks covered the ground around it, while broken trees and damaged earth remained scattered throughout the clearing. The sight reminded Kael just how violent the battle had been.

His eyes rested on the corpse for a moment.

He had already taken the Silver core.

There was nothing else he needed from it.

Kael continued walking, leaving the clearing behind as he followed the familiar route toward the forest's outer region. The journey remained quiet for a while, allowing him to move without having to worry about another fight.

Then he sensed movement ahead.

Kael slowed.

Several figures were moving between the trees.

He recognized them almost immediately.

Bandits.

The same group he had encountered earlier.

One of them noticed Kael first and froze.

His face immediately changed.

"That's him."

The others turned to look.

For a few seconds, they simply stared at Kael.

Kael didn't draw his sword.

He didn't even change his expression.

But the bandits remembered what had happened the last time they had crossed paths with him.

One of them swallowed hard.

"Don't."

Another glanced at Kael's sword.

"We can't take him."

The group exchanged a quick look before one of them shouted,

"Run!"

They turned and disappeared between the trees.

Kael watched them flee without moving.

He could have chased them.

He simply didn't care enough to.

"They're learning."

With that, Kael continued along the path.

The trees gradually became thinner as he approached the edge of the forest. The sunlight grew brighter, spilling through the branches and illuminating the path ahead.

Kael walked on until the last line of trees finally opened.

Then he saw it.

The massive guild gate stood in the distance.

Kael stopped for a moment.

After everything that had happened inside the forest, the sight of the gate gave him a strange sense of finality.

He adjusted the weapon at his side and continued forward.

The guild was waiting.

And Kael was finally home.
