Kael woke several hours later.
The exhaustion that had weighed heavily on his body was mostly gone, though he could still feel a dull heaviness in his muscles. He sat up, stretched his arms, and reached for his sword before standing.
After washing up and changing his clothes, Kael secured the Silver core beneath his clothing and left his room.
The guild was much busier now.
Hunters filled the halls and courtyard, some discussing recent missions while others gathered around the reception area. Kael ignored the noise and walked directly toward the counter.
The receptionist looked up when he approached.
"Welcome back. Were you able to complete the mission?"
Kael nodded.
"I completed it."
He reached beneath his clothing and placed a small object on the counter.
Thud.
The Silver core rolled slightly before coming to a stop.
The receptionist froze.
For a moment, she simply stared at it.
Then her eyes widened.
"Is that...?"
"A Silver core."
Kael's answer was calm.
The receptionist carefully picked it up, examining the faint silver glow pulsing beneath its surface.
The conversation around the reception area suddenly stopped.
Several nearby hunters had noticed what was on the counter.
"Wait..."
"Is that a Silver core?"
A hunter stepped closer.
"No way."
Another hunter laughed.
"You're telling me a Bronze Rank hunter brought back a Silver core?"
"I don't believe it."
The receptionist looked toward Kael.
"Where did you obtain this?"
"Black Stone Ridge."
The moment he said it, the surrounding hunters erupted into whispers.
"Black Stone Ridge?"
"That place has Silver beasts."
"He went there alone?"
"That's impossible."
"He probably found the core after someone else killed it."
"Exactly. There's no way a Bronze hunter killed a Silver beast."
Kael remained completely calm as the accusations and disbelief spread around him.
He had no reason to argue.
The receptionist was still examining the core when a heavy presence suddenly approached from behind the crowd.
The conversations slowly died down.
A tall hunter stepped forward.
His bronze aura was noticeably stronger than Kael's, and the pressure around him made several nearby hunters instinctively move aside.
Peak Bronze.
His eyes remained fixed on Kael.
"So you're the one who supposedly killed a Silver beast?"
Kael turned toward him.
The hunter's expression was dissatisfied.
He looked at the Silver core before looking back at Kael.
"I don't believe it."
Kael said nothing.
The hunter stepped closer.
"If you're so sure you earned that core..."
His bronze aura slowly began to rise.
"...prove it."
The reception area fell completely silent.
Kael looked at the hunter for a moment.
The hunter raised his chin.
"I challenge you."
Kael's eyes narrowed slightly and frowned
"I refuse"
