Chapter 172: The Sacrifice

The connection between Kael and the beast remained firm.

Kael looked down at the blood coating the edge of his sword, then slowly turned the blade in his hand. Instead of activating the Mark immediately, he reached toward the blood with his free hand and dragged his fingers along the blade, pulling the blood away from the edge and spreading it across the entire length of the sword.

The dark blood covered the steel from the tip to the base, forming a thin layer over the weapon.

Kael lifted the sword.

The black crescent on his palm pulsed.

"Blood Reinforcement."

The blood covering the sword shimmered.

A faint silver tint spread through it, flowing across the entire blade until the weapon seemed to carry a thin layer of silver beneath the dark red coating.

The beast immediately reacted.

Its eyes fixed on the sword.

Then its body jerked forward.

The pull had begun.

The creature's feet scraped across the ground as it tried to resist, its claws digging into the stone while its Silver aura flared around its body.

Kael didn't chase it.

He simply held the sword steady.

The beast was pulled another step.

It resisted harder.

Its muscles tightened as it tried to anchor itself against the ground, but the force continued dragging it toward Kael.

Cracks spread beneath its feet.

Kael took one step forward.

The beast was dragged several meters closer.

It dug its claws deeper.

Still, it couldn't stop the pull.

Kael's eyes remained calm as he watched the creature struggle.

The beast suddenly looked toward the wounded arm.

Its expression changed.

It understood where the connection was coming from.

The blood.

The creature's remaining claw rose.

Without hesitation, it swung down.

SHING!

The beast severed its own arm.

Blood exploded from the wound.

The moment the limb separated from its body, the pull on the beast disappeared.

Its body stumbled backward.

But the severed arm did not.

The blood connecting it to Kael's blade was still active.

The limb shot through the air toward Kael.

Kael's eyes followed it.

The arm came faster and faster, blood spraying behind it as it was dragged directly toward him.

Kael waited until the final moment.

Then his grip tightened around the sword.

"Dead End."

The black crescent pulsed violently.

The pull intensified.

The severed arm was dragged even faster, its trajectory becoming impossible to escape as it was forced directly toward Kael's reinforced blade.

Kael stepped forward.

His sword swept across.

SHING!

The blade cut cleanly through the flying arm.

The severed limb split apart and fell away.

Blood exploded across the space between Kael and the beast.

For a fraction of a second, the entire clearing was filled with suspended droplets.

Kael's eyes remained on the beast.

He expected it to retreat.

Instead, the creature immediately raised its remaining hand.

The blood in the air moved.

Every droplet suddenly changed direction, rushing toward Kael from all sides.

Kael's expression tightened.

The blood compressed in midair.

One projectile formed.

Then another.

Then dozens.

Each droplet hardened into a crimson spike, the beast's Silver mana coating them as they formed.

Kael's eyes widened slightly.

They weren't coming from a distance.

They were forming directly around him.

At point-blank range.

There was no time to create space.

No time to retreat.

The beast's remaining arm remained extended as the blood bullets locked onto Kael.

Its Silver aura surged violently.

Kael raised his reinforced sword, but the projectiles were already in front of him.

The beast's eyes flashed.

"Blood Bullet."

BOOM!

Every projectile fired at once.
