Hunt Race

Chapter 183: The Reward

The next morning, Kael was summoned to the guild's administrative hall.

When he entered the room, the guild official who had handled the aftermath of the abandoned camp was already waiting for him.

“Kael. Have a seat.”

Kael sat across from him.

The official studied him briefly before speaking.

“The three Hunters you rescued are recovering well.”

Kael nodded.

“That’s good.”

“They should make a full recovery.”

Kael relaxed slightly.

The official reached beneath the desk and placed a heavy pouch in front of him.

“This is your reward.”

Kael picked it up.

The weight immediately caught his attention.

He opened the pouch slightly and saw the gold inside.

“How much?”

“Three hundred gold.”

Kael closed the pouch.

“That much?”

“The guild considers what happened at the abandoned camp a serious incident. You rescued three Hunters who had been missing for two weeks and survived an encounter with an Elite Silver.”

Kael nodded.

“I understand.”

The official then placed a dark token on the desk.

“And this is separate.”

Kael picked it up.

The token was heavier than it looked, with the guild insignia engraved across its surface.

“What is it?”

“A contribution token.”

Kael looked at him.

“Contribution?”

“The guild recognizes Hunters who make significant contributions beyond ordinary missions. This token can be exchanged for certain guild resources.”

“Such as?”

“Training facilities. Specialized materials. Equipment. Information that isn't normally available to ordinary Hunters.”

Kael turned the token over in his fingers.

“How much is it worth?”

“That depends on what you use it for.”

Kael looked at him.

“And I can keep it?”

“Yes. There's no need to spend it immediately.”

Kael nodded.

“Then I'll keep it.”

He slipped the token into his pocket.

The official leaned back.

“One more thing.”

Kael waited.

“The guild will not make the details of your encounter public.”

Kael raised an eyebrow.

“Why?”

“The investigation surrounding the abandoned camp isn't finished. We also don't want unnecessary attention placed on the Hunters you rescued.”

Kael nodded.

“That makes sense.”

“The creature is still somewhere in the eastern forest. Until we know more, the guild will restrict independent missions around that area.”

Kael didn't object.

“Fine.”

The official looked at him for a moment.

“You did well, Kael.”

Kael gave a small nod.

The official didn't press him.

After a moment, Kael stood and picked up the pouch of gold.

“That's everything?”

“Yes.”

Kael turned toward the door.

“Thank you.”

The official nodded.

Kael stepped out of the room and entered the main hall.

The guild was already busy.

Hunters moved between the mission board, training grounds, and equipment shops, while the usual noise filled the building.

Kael walked through the crowd and eventually stopped near the entrance.

He reached into his pocket and looked at the contribution token again.

Training.

Materials.

Equipment.

Information.

There were plenty of possibilities.

He put it away.

Then he looked down at his sword.

Kael drew it slightly.

The blade had survived the battle, but several marks were visible along its surface, and the edge was no longer as clean as it had been.

He slowly returned it to its sheath.

His clothes weren't much better.

Kael looked at the pouch of gold hanging from his waist.

Three hundred gold.

A faint smile appeared.

“At least the timing is good.”

He turned toward the equipment district.

There was no reason to rush.

But if he was going to keep fighting stronger opponents, he might as well make sure his equipment could keep up.

Kael walked out of the guild.
