Hunt Race

Chapter 48: Rhythm

The battle resumed.

CLANG!

Steel collided once more.

She struck first.

The Silver Rank met her blade head-on.

Their swords scraped against each other as sparks scattered across the battlefield.

Without hesitation—

Kael stepped in from the side.

His sword swept toward the Silver Rank's ribs.

The Silver Rank pivoted.

CLANG!

His blade intercepted Kael's attack before immediately redirecting toward her.

She was already moving.

CLANG!

The short sword caught the strike.

The three separated.

Only to collide again.

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

The battlefield echoed with the sound of steel.

One attacked.

One supported.

The Silver Rank answered every strike with flawless precision.

Whenever she forced him back—

Kael sealed the escape.

Whenever Kael was forced onto the defensive—

She immediately stepped in.

Without realizing it...

Their movements began to synchronize.

No words.

No signals.

Just instinct.

The Silver Rank noticed.

His eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

His sword suddenly accelerated.

"Silver Art: Crescent Sever."

A crescent-shaped slash erupted from his blade.

Unlike before...

No silver aura surrounded it.

Yet its sharpness remained.

"Split!"

She moved left.

Kael moved right.

BOOM!

The technique carved through the earth between them.

The Silver Rank was already moving.

He dashed toward Kael.

CLANG!

A barrage of strikes descended.

One.

Two.

Three.

Kael blocked desperately.

Each collision numbed his arms.

His footing began to crumble.

Before the finishing blow could descend—

CLANG!

Her short sword slipped between the blades.

She twisted her wrist.

The Silver Rank's sword was pushed away.

Kael immediately disengaged.

The roles reversed.

Now she pressed forward.

Fast.

Precise.

Relentless.

The Silver Rank gave ground.

One step.

Then another.

He suddenly twisted.

His blade flashed toward her neck.

She ducked beneath it.

Kael appeared behind him.

The Silver Rank spun.

CLANG!

Their swords collided.

She didn't stop.

The instant the Silver Rank committed to Kael—

Her short sword flashed again.

He blocked.

Kael attacked.

He blocked again.

Attack after attack.

Counter after counter.

The rhythm never broke.

For the first time since the battle began...

The Silver Rank was being forced to react.

His movements became increasingly heavier.

His footing lost a fraction of its sharpness.

She saw it.

So did Kael.

Without exchanging a single glance—

They acted.

She lunged straight ahead.

The Silver Rank raised his sword to meet her.

At that exact moment—

Kael burst in from the blind side.

The Silver Rank sensed him.

He immediately abandoned the clash and twisted away.

Too late.

SLASH!

Kael's blade carved across the back of the Silver Rank's thigh.

Blood splashed onto the dirt.

The Silver Rank retreated several steps.

His right leg trembled.

For the briefest moment...

It gave way.

His movements...

Had slowed.

Kael's eyes lit up.

This was their chance.

He tightened his grip on his sword and stepped forward.

A hand pressed gently against his chest.

He stopped.

She stepped past him.

A faint smile rested on her lips.

Her eyes never left the Silver Rank.

Slowly...

She sheathed both short swords.

Click.

She cracked her knuckles.

Crack.

Crack.

Then rolled her neck

The smile on her face widened.

"Finally..."

She took another step.

"...it's my turn to shine."
