The forest was quiet.
Too quiet.
The battlefield that had been filled with the sound of steel moments ago now felt almost unreal.
Kael stood there, staring at the crater left behind by Full Moon.
The Silver Rank...
The person who had nearly crushed them both...
Was gone.
His eyes slowly moved toward her.
She stood calmly, picking up her bow as if the battle had been nothing more than a small exercise.
Kael could only stare.
His mouth slightly opened.
"..."
After everything he had seen...
He still couldn't understand.
He had watched her struggle against the Silver Rank earlier.
He had seen her forced backward.
Yet the moment she stepped forward without her swords...
Everything changed.
Kael finally found his voice.
"Were you always this strong?"
She looked back at him.
He narrowed his eyes.
"Or do you just enjoy watching people get close to death before deciding to help?"
A small laugh escaped her.
"No."
She looked at her hand.
The same hand that had released Full Moon.
"I wasn't."
Kael froze.
"What?"
She smiled slightly.
"I actually broke through to Silver Rank during that fight."
The words took a moment to register.
"You..."
"You broke through?"
She nodded.
"That was my first technique after reaching Silver Rank."
Kael stared at her.
His expression was almost disbelief.
"You reached Silver Rank..."
"Mid battle?"
"Against someone who was already Silver Rank?"
She shrugged.
"I needed pressure."
"I wanted to know if I could force a breakthrough."
Her eyes moved toward the crater.
"And luckily..."
"I did."
Kael looked away.
A strange feeling settled in his chest.
The battle had pushed both of them beyond their limits.
Then she continued.
"But don't misunderstand."
"If you hadn't weakened him first..."
"The result would have been different."
Kael looked back at her.
She continued.
"When he dropped back to Bronze Rank, his chances of surviving my technique became almost zero."
"But before that?"
She shook her head.
"I couldn't have done what I did."
She pointed toward the broken battlefield.
"That final strike you landed wasn't just damage."
"It reduced his speed."
"It reduced his strength as well, any technique he did then we just flashes, easy to see through and incredibly weak"
A faint smile appeared.
"And honestly..."
"How else do you think I caught his technique?"
Kael remembered the moment.
The knife.
Stunner.
The way she had stopped it between her fingers.
"I may be an Elite within my rank..."
"But I am still within the same rank as him"
She looked at him.
"If he had his Full strength ain't no way i will be able to catch his techniques with bare hands, I might be able to block or dodge but catching is beautiful imagination "
Kael became silent.
There was only one explanation.
His wounds.
The cuts he had created.
The strange weakness that appeared after his attacks.
She noticed his expression.
Then she spoke.
"Which brings me to you."
Kael looked up.
"I believe you have an ability."
His eyes narrowed.
"An ability?"
She nodded.
"Something that activates when you injure your opponent."
"Something that weakens them."
"Something that can reduce their strength."
The wind passed between them.
Kael stared at his own hand.
The mark.
The strange power he still didn't understand.
For the first time...
Someone else had seen it.
