"Some powers are discovered through training... others awaken when the world tries to kill you."
The forest remained silent after Varkhan's disappearance.
But the fear he left behind...
Stayed.
The hunters continued moving, but nobody spoke.
Not even Lyra.
Kael noticed it immediately.
These were people who had fought countless beasts.
People who had stared death in the eyes.
Yet one creature had made them hesitate.
One name had changed everything.
Varkhan.
Kael glanced at Darius.
The captain walked ahead, his expression unreadable.
But Kael could tell.
Something was bothering him.
"Captain..."
Darius stopped.
"What?"
Kael hesitated.
"How do you know that monster?"
For a moment...
Nothing.
Then Darius continued walking.
"Some enemies aren't born."
"They're created."
Kael frowned.
"What does that mean?"
Darius didn't answer.
Before Kael could ask again—
A sudden roar shook the forest.
The trees trembled.
Birds scattered into the sky.
The hunters immediately reached for their weapons.
Lyra's eyes narrowed.
"Another beast?"
Darius looked toward the darkness.
"No."
His grip tightened around his sword.
"Worse."
The ground split open.
A massive claw burst from beneath the earth.
The hunters jumped back as a creature emerged.
It was unlike anything Kael had ever seen.
Its body was covered in black armor-like scales.
Six glowing eyes stared at them.
Its mouth opened...
Revealing rows of sharp teeth.
Kael felt his heartbeat quicken.
This thing...
Was stronger than anything he had faced before.
Darius stepped forward.
"Everyone stay back."
The hunters immediately obeyed.
Kael gripped his spear.
"But Captain—"
Darius looked at him.
For the first time...
Kael saw something different in his eyes.
Concern.
"Kael."
"Do not move."
The beast roared.
The entire forest shook.
Kael saw its massive claws heading toward one of the injured hunters.
His body moved before his mind could think.
"No!"
Kael stepped forward.
The impact came.
A wave of force exploded through the forest.
Trees cracked.
The ground split beneath his feet.
Everyone watched in disbelief.
Kael was still standing.
His arms trembled.
His spear was nearly broken.
But he had stopped the attack.
The beast stared at him.
Not with anger...
But with curiosity.
Then suddenly—
It disappeared.
Kael's eyes widened.
Too fast.
He couldn't even see it move.
A deadly claw appeared right in front of him.
This time...
There was no chance to react.
Then—
CLANG!
The sound of steel echoed through the forest.
A massive sword blocked the attack.
Darius stood in front of Kael.
The force of the impact pushed the ground beneath him apart.
He didn't move.
Not even an inch.
Darius glanced back.
"Kid..."
"...I thought I told you not to move."
Kael looked away.
"I was trying to help."
For a moment...
Darius said nothing.
Then a faint smile appeared on his face.
"Not bad."
He turned his gaze back toward the beast.
"Only the brave survive the Hunt."
Then...
Darius noticed it.
A faint glow coming from Kael's hand.
The strange symbol slowly appeared on his skin.
Darius froze.
His expression changed.
Because he knew that mark.
"What..."
His voice became almost a whisper.
"What is this mark?"
For the first time...
The legendary hunter looked afraid.
