Xero came back to the class to meet Lora still waiting for him. He didn’t have his usual facial expression on him. He seem to be disturbed. Lora noticed that but could not figure out why.
Xero walked over to her and collapsed on the seat beside her. He then heaved a sigh of relief and exhaustion. Lora stared at him for a while before speaking up.
"You met the General?" She asked slowly not wanting to spike his mood. Xero on the other hand only slumped further on the seat.
"Hey, what’s the matter? Did you meet with him?"
"Yeah I did. Not really what I expected though." Xero muttered under his breath.
"What was the meeting all about? I hope it isn’t about the guy you ...." she paused expecting Xero to understand that she was referring to the guy who he has killed.
"He knows about that." Lora’s eyes widened in shock and she pulled him up.
"Come on be serious here. What did he say? Is he gonna expel you or what?" She asked nervously.
"He doesn’t seem bothered by that. He only called me in to offer a proposal. That’s all." Xero said and smiled lightly.
Right now his body was getting weak. He wasn’t sure he would be able to walk properly in the next one hour or more. His eyes were getting blurry and dizzy.
He had to get to his dorm and have a proper nap. He hadn’t felt this weak in a long while. He knew it was an effect from the system yet he still wondered why the system kept on repeating the message thar he was hungry. His only guess was that the system required him to eat a specific food but he didn’t know how he would get to know.
The class was empty. Most students had gone for their breaks. He sighed and turned to look at Lora only then did he notice that she seemed sad. Her ever bright face and lovely smile had vanished out of sight.
He remembered her asking about the Hunts. He had wanted to ask her about that. From the description given to him from his parents dairy, the Hunt was extremely dangerous and those who went in to raid never came back alive. Most were recovered at the mouth of the portals dead.
"Uhm. Lora."
"Huh?"
"About the question, you asked Mr Kenry in class. Do you know about the Hunt?" Xero asked hoping for a positive response. Lora sighed lightly before responding to his question.
"Yes. My mum was a Missionary too. She had taught in this school too." She explained. Xero stared at her in shock. He never taught that Lora would be the daughter of a Missionary.
"Wow. She taught here? Where is she now? Retired already?" Xero asked feeling a bit excited by her narration.
"No. She’s...she’s not retired. She is missing. " she said rather firmly.
"How?"
"Well she ventured into the Hunt and never came back. They said she was trying to save a student but got swooped into the portal. The stupid student didn’t even feel sorry after everything. I came to this school to fulfil two things. I will find the Hunt and go get my mum then I find the ungrateful boy, my mum risked her life for and deal the hell out of him." Tears streaked down her cheeks.
Xero stared at her for a while understanding how she felt. Having his parents dying in the same manner he could understand the rage she felt.
"Sorry for that. I brought you bad memories." Xero muttered.
Lora then held his hands tightly and looked at him straight in the eye. A light tension built up between them.
"Thank you for helping me up to the horizon. Because of you the General sees me as a prodigy. All thanks to you and your perceptive nature you helped us stand out in the crowd. Though I do not know why you are a level 1 but I believe if you gain ability, you will become an exceptional student. You are too good to be a Lamer."
Xero stared at her in shock. Her words drew him back to his meeting with Lonel Brayn. His eyes darted quickly in random motion.
"Really. I didn’t do anything special. It was the help of my teammates and especially you that I pulled that up. Without you in the team, I would have failed. Because you were there I had time to think and reason. I didn’t feel the weight of the whole matter on me." Xero said and sighed.
He was beginning to get incredibly weak. His hands were getting too heavy for him to lift. His eyes has almost given in. He was now dizzy and his vision was extremely blurred.
"Xero are you okay?" Lora asked as she held his hand. Xero tried to look at her but his head fell against the table.
"Damn. Sleeping now? Didn’t he have his sleep last night?" Lora said as she noticed he was fast asleep.
She looked around to check her environment. Only four students were still in class. She had to take him to his dorm or find Tenny to do that.
After a long thought, she decided to take him to Tenny’s class. His watch was blue so he would definitely be in Blue Class.
She raised him to his feet and supported him on her shoulder while forcing him to walk but after taking four steps, she noticed it was too stressful because he was fast asleep and his feet was causing a great friction against the ground.
She shot ice against his feet, creating an ice boot on his feet. With that she would be transport him freely.
As soon as she left the class, one of the students stared at her. His eyes blazed with blue flame.
"Xero Damien huh? You’ve got a nice girl already." He muttered and smiled.
