Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Exchange Contact With Yin Junjie
Yin Junjie slowly rose to his feet, pacing around the machine in sheer awe before pausing again.
"Who handled the engine tuning and ECU mapping?" Yin Junjie started again.
"I did." Qiao Meixia replied flatly.
"You... You tuned a Panigale V4 R completely by yourself?!" Yin Junjie stared at her in utter disbelief.
"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia nodded again.
An extended, heavy silence fell between them. Finally, Yin Junjie let out a helpless, self-deprecating laugh.
"I suddenly feel like I’ve just been pretending to understand motorcycles for the past few years." Yin Junjie chuckled, shaking his head.
"Why?" Qiao Meixia tilted her head slightly, her face the picture of innocent confusion.
"Because this entire setup is practically flawless." Yin Junjie pointed directly toward the rear suspension geometry. "The balance on this Öhlins setup... the custom exhaust back-pressure... even the stroke response on the Brembo brakes, they are all dialled in specifically for your exact weight and riding style."
He looked back up at Qiao Meixia, his eyes filled with profound, unfeigned respect. "You genuinely know your stuff."
"It’s not that difficult." Qiao Meixia remarked nonchalantly.
Yin Junjie nearly choked on his own breath. Not that difficult?! He had spent years studying under high-end mechanics, reading technical manuals, and testing various builds. Yet the young girl standing before him casually brushed off something that professional pit crews spent months perfecting as "not that difficult." She really possessed an extraordinary talent for making people re-evaluate their own life choices. He was rendered completely speechless.
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps interrupted them as several male students ran over.
"Bro!" Someone called out loudly.
They skidded to a halt, their eyes darting back and forth between Yin Junjie and Qiao Meixia.
"Whoa, Brother Jun! No wonder you ditched us after class. You were hanging out with a top-tier beauty this whole time!" One of the guys teased with a wide grin.
"Shut your mouth! I was just asking her about the machine." Yin Junjie rolled his eyes, cutting his friend off sharply.
The boys’ attention immediately pivoted toward the dark purple motorcycle parked beside them. Upon getting a proper look at it, one of them recognized the legendary machine right away.
"Holy crap..."
"So this superbike really belongs to her?!"
"I thought you guys were totally messing with me earlier!"
Another boy turned to Yin Junjie with a grin.
"Brother Jun, are you trying to recruit a new core member for our riding club?" He asked.
Riding club? Qiao Meixia silently echoed the phrase in her mind. She noticed Yin Junjie stole a subtle glance in her direction.
"Honestly, I do have that intention." Yin Junjie admitted, giving his friends a firm nod.
The surrounding boys instantly grew ecstatic.
"For real?!"
"Beauty, our Hannan First High riding club has the sickest lineup of superbikes in the city!"
"We do group runs every weekend!"
"You should definitely join us!"
"Yeah! With a machine like that, you’d instantly become our star rider!"
"You will definitely fit right in."
Qiao Meixia looked at the enthusiastic, expectant faces before her, her expression remaining entirely tranquil.
"No," Qiao Meixia replied calmly.
The smiles on everyone’s faces froze.
The energetic smiles on everyone’s faces instantly froze in place.
The rejection had been delivered with such terrifying, instantaneous efficiency that no one knew how to process it.
Yin Junjie cleared his throat awkwardly to break the sudden hush. "Can I ask why?"
"I don’t like crowded places," Qiao Meixia stated directly.
The boys exchanged helpless glances. Coming from her, that reason sounded entirely valid and unassailable. Considering her distant, icy demeanour, forcing her into a noisy social gathering every weekend was probably a harder task than asking her to solve advanced theoretical physics equations.
"I understand." Yin Junjie let out a quiet sigh, though a polite smile remained on his lips. "Fair enough. But... if you ever feel like taking a solo ride together, you can hit me up anytime."
Qiao Meixia looked at him silently for a brief moment.
"I don’t have your contact number," she replied flatly.
"..."
"..."
"..."
A heavy beat of dead silence swept through the lot before the surrounding boys exploded into a roar of uncontrollable laughter.
"Pahahahaha!"
"Brother Jun, she just completely destroyed you without even trying!"
"You forgot the absolute most basic step!"
"She does not even have your phone number!"
Even Yin Junjie could not help but laugh at his own foolish mistake. He pulled his smartphone out of his pocket and tossed her an amused look.
"In that case, can we exchange contact info now?" Yin Junjie asked smoothly.
Qiao Meixia pondered the request for a second. Given that they were classmates and he has not displayed any malicious intent or hidden agendas, maintaining a basic line of communication would not hurt.
"Hmm." Qiao Meixia nodded, pulling out her phone.
"Awesome! We are officially friends now." Yin Junjie declared with a grin.
Qiao Meixia looked up at him, her dark eyes entirely unbothered, and calmly delivered a precise correction:
"Classmates."
"..."
"..."
"..."
The surrounding crowd doubled over, bursting into an even wilder fit of laughter.
"Hahaha!"
"Brother Jun got demoted on the spot!"
"Friendship application denied! Strictly classmates!"
Yin Junjie pinched the bridge of his nose in utter helplessness. For the first time in his life, he had absolutely zero idea how to handle or charm a girl. Yet somehow, he found her cold, unapologetic honesty to be extraordinarily refreshing.
Qiao Meixia smoothly mounted the superbike, fastened her helmet, and fired up the engine. The thunderous, high-displacement V4 roar echoed crisply through the parking lot. Leaving the stunned group of students behind, she wove through the traffic and made a quick pit stop at her private penthouse apartment first.
As usual, the elite residential security guards performed their duties diligently, halting her at the gated entrance. Only after carefully verifying her identity did they respectfully raise the barrier and allow her through.
Qiao Meixia went up to her apartment, retrieved the specific items she needed, and returned to the garage. Moments later, she was back on the road, riding the roaring superbike toward the Jiang Family Residence.
Coincidentally, she arrived at the estate gates at the exact same moment as Jiang Yanna and Jiang Chinan’s luxury sedan. Both siblings were utterly frozen when they caught sight of Qiao Meixia commanding the very same dark purple superbike that had been the primary topic of heated discussion across campus all afternoon.
Jiang Chinan had never in his wildest dreams expected the mysterious rider to be Qiao Meixia. His arrogant pride refused to accept that a machine of that calibre actually belonged to her. The second he stepped out of the car inside the family garage, he marched aggressively over to her bay.
"Hey, country bumpkin! Tell me the truth!" Jiang Chinan demanded, pointing an accusing finger at her. "Whose superbike did you steal?!"
"Chinan, you should not make wild accusations against Sister Meixia like that without proof." Jiang Yanna chimed in softly, maintaining her gentle, saintly facade.
Qiao Meixia dismounted the machine with practised grace, unlatched her helmet, and took it off. She casually ran a hand through her short, layered bob, smoothing her hair without bestowing a single glance on the two siblings standing nearby. Without a word, she turned on her heel and began walking out of the garage.
"Hey! You useless bumpkin, how dare you ignore me?!" Enraged by her complete dismissiveness, Jiang Chinan lunged forward, reaching out to grab Qiao Meixia by the hair to yank her backward.
However, Qiao Meixia did not even need to look back. With effortless, fluid precision, she casually side-stepped his reaching hand, causing his fingers to clutch empty air. She came to a halt and turned around, her icy, pitch-black eyes locking onto him with lethal stillness.
"If you dare to reach for me again..." Qiao Meixia warned in a low, terrifyingly calm tone, "make sure you can afford to lose the function of that hand for the next few months."
Jiang Chinan felt a sudden, instinctual chill run down his spine, and he immediately snatched his hand back as if he had been burned.
"And as for whether this superbike is stolen or not, it has absolutely nothing to do with you." Qiao Meixia stated flatly. She then cast a frigid glance over at the dark purple Ducati before looking back at him. "Touch a single part of it, and I will personally break your bones. Try it if you dare."
It was the first time since her return that Jiang Yanna and Jiang Chinan had heard Qiao Meixia utter such a long, explicit warning to them. It was glaringly obvious that she held this superbike in extremely high regard.
