"I need more," Yue Lihua muttered. She forced the vision of her Heavenly Eyes to expand faster, taking another step. The markers dropped to fifty. Behind her, one elder coughed up a mouthful of blood.

She took another step. The red dots dropped to twenty. The remaining two elders spat blood, their bodies shaking under the crushing load of collapsing possibilities.

With a final, desperate surge of her remaining soul force, Yue Lihua forced the remaining paths to collapse.

The map flared with light as the red dots stopped blinking, leaving exactly seven points hovering over the continent. Instantly, the kaleidoscope vision in her eyes shattered, and she collapsed, spitting a mouthful of blood.

Jun Tianya caught her before she hit the floor, stabilizing her with his Qi.

The doors of the Array Hall slammed open. Grandmaster Yao, the sect’s secluded Grandmaster Physician, rushed in, her hands glowing with healing Qi. Behind her, Master Physician Han and several senior healers rushed to assist the three unconscious elders.

Grandmaster Yao pressed her fingers against Yue Lihua’s temples. "Her soul sea is damaged, and her eyes are temporarily blinded by the backlash. She needs immediate care."

Yue Lihua slowly opened her blood-stained grey eyes and muttered weakly, "The seven... those seven locations. They are the main strongholds... and I tracked his soul. It is split. His other soul fragments are tied to these places. If even one survives... he will return."

Jun Tianya’s face darkened. ’That must be how he escaped last time.’

He looked at Yue Lihua with deep gratitude. "Thank you, Junior Sister. Leave the rest to us."

He reached into his sleeve, producing the box containing a Nine Revolutions Ascension Pill. He handed it to Grandmaster Yao for Yue Lihua, along with several healing elixirs for the three elders.

"Elder Yao, I leave her in your care. Please nourish her with this," Jun Tianya bowed deeply, his voice carrying a quiet determination.

***

The deep silence of the night on White Lotus Peak was shattered without warning.

A heavy toll vibrated through the cold mountain air. It was not the ordinary chimes used for morning assemblies. The Nine Desolation Bells had not rung in three centuries. The sound carried a weight that immediately alerted every soul in the Heavenly Cloud Sect.

Inside the quiet courtyard, Wang Tian stood near the edge of the courtyard, looking toward the main peaks. Guest Elder Bai Zhen and Bai Qingxian emerged from their quarters, their expressions grave under the moonlight.

"The war bells," Bai Zhen whispered, his voice shaking slightly.

"Su Ming, is the sect mobilizing against the demonic forces?" Bai Qingxian asked.

"Probably." But before his voice could fade, a piercing boom followed from the central valley.

The Heaven-Shaking War Drums had begun. The deep thrumming sounded like constant, distant thunder, making the stone ground beneath their feet tremble.

It was the signal that the sect had entered a state of war.

Su Ming stepped out of his chamber. The cold wind ruffled his robes as a sharp streak of golden light cut through the dark sky. A gold-eyed messenger crane descended, landing lightly on his open palm. The message dissolved into a low, urgent voice that echoed in his ears.

"Requesting Peak Master Su’s immediate presence at the Heavenly Dao Hall."

Su Ming did not hesitate. He tapped his foot, launching into the air as a streak of light.

As he rose above White Lotus Peak, he saw that the sky was no longer dark. Dozens of streaks of colored light were cutting through the night. Sword lights, flying beasts, and elders converged from every outer peak and grand peak, heading toward the central summit. There was no casual chatter, and no one stopped to greet another. The air felt cold.

When Su Ming reached the Heavenly Dao Hall, the pressure in the area made his chest tighten.

The grand hall was packed with cultivators, yet the silence was oppressive. Su Ming scanned the crowd as he took his place. He realized he did not recognize most of the faces. These were not the standard elders or deacons who managed the daily affairs of the peaks.

They were experienced, battle-scarred Nascent Soul and Avatar Formation cultivators who had spent decades or centuries in deep seclusion or guarding the most dangerous areas under the control of the sect. Many stood with their weapons in hand, and their eyes were cold and focused. The killing intent in the air was thick and suffocating.

At the front of the hall, Sect Master Jun Tianya stood before the central altar.

The usual calm, gentle smile was completely gone from his face, replaced by a cold composure. The world was about to witness the emergence of the legendary Devil of Lightning once again.

Jun Tianya looked over the assembly. When he spoke, his voice was quiet, but it carried to every corner of the hall.

"Peak Master Yue Lihua has paid a heavy price to divine the location of the enemy," Jun Tianya said. "The divination has succeeded. We have identified seven hidden strongholds of the Nine Shadows Sect. The Demonic Ancestor split his soul into seven vessels, placing one in each location. If even a single vessel survives, he will eventually return."

He paused, his eyes flashing with violet lightning.

"An elder of our Sword Peak was captured and possessed. Eleven of our disciples, the very future of our sect, were targeted and branded as sacrificial pawns. The Heavenly Cloud Sect does not tolerate such debts. We will have our revenge. The war that started three hundred years ago, we will finish it today. We will erase them completely."

’Divination,’ Su Ming thought. ’To locate seven hidden strongholds across the continent. If I can learn this...’

Before he could think further, a thunderous roar of approval erupted from the assembly. Dozens of powerhouses shouted in unison, their combined killing intent surging like a tidal wave that rattled the very pillars of the hall.

The projected map above the altar flared, displaying seven blood red dots. Four glowed within the territory of the Heavenly Cloud Sect, while the remaining three were scattered across the domains of the Heavenly Dawn Academy, the Heavenly Phoenix Sect, and the neutral border wilderness.
