Three hundred years ago, the valley of the Azure Mist was not a ruin.

It was a place of clear streams and ancient trees, hidden behind a mountain range that touched the clouds. On a quiet afternoon, the peaceful valley was disturbed by the sudden emergence of a secret realm. A vortex of silver light spun in the air, cracking the space around it.

"We arrived first," a young cultivator in red robes said, her sword pointed directly at young Jun Tianya. "The Heavenly Phoenix Sect has already claimed this territory. You should turn back."

At the center of the Heavenly Cloud group stood a young man. Young Jun Tianya wore white robes embroidered with gold thread, his hair tied loosely with a red ribbon. He stepped forward, with a relaxed smile.

"Ridiculous," Jun Tianya said. "Our scouts detected the spatial fluctuations three days ago. The Heavenly Cloud Sect will not simply hand over this secret realm to you."

"A womanizer’s word is worthless," a Phoenix Sect disciple sneered, her hand tightening on her sword.

"Watch your tongue," a junior sister from the Heavenly Cloud Sect retorted, stepping forward to defend her senior brother. "Senior Brother Jun has already broken through to the Nascent Soul realm. You are in no position to question him."

The disciples of both sects stood in a tense standoff, trading sharp words as Jun Tinya’s junior sisters defended his prestige against the Phoenix girls.

Feng Wan’er stepped forward from the Heavenly Phoenix Sect disciples. She was the Holy Maiden of her sect, carrying a slender sword with a guard shaped like a phoenix wing. Her eyes were sharp, and her presence was fierce.

"Holy Maiden Feng," Jun Tianya said, bowing slightly. "You look as fierce as ever. Perhaps we can settle this over a cup of tea instead of drawing blades."

"Holy Son Jun, forgive me for my blunt words, but I do not drink tea with shameless people," Feng Wan’er replied, her sword leaving its sheath with a crisp sound.

"Then let our skills decide", Jun Tianya laughed.

"The first to reach the core claims the spoils!" He turned and leaped directly into the spinning vortex of the secret realm.

Feng Wan’er’s eyes narrowed. "Despicable thief," she snapped, leaping into the silver light immediately after him.

The disciples of both sects gasped, and several juniors from both sides rushed in after their leaders.

Inside the secret realm, the two clashed along a long corridor of ancient stone. Jun Tianya did not draw a weapon. He channeled his lightning Qi, directing flashes of lightning to deflect her sword strikes. Their battle was relentless, lasting over a long time as they moved deeper into the sanctuary.

With every clash of her blade and his lightning, the residual shockwaves cut down the guardian beasts that woke around them. Jun Tianya laughed, teasing her with quick steps, while Wan’er pressed her attack with fiery precision.

Suddenly, a loud rumble shook the entire space.

The spatial boundaries of the unstable realm began to collapse, throwing fragments of spatial wind through the corridors. The stone ground crumbled, and the juniors who had followed them inside cried out in panic near the shaking portal.

Jun Tianya’s carefree smile vanished instantly. Sensing the mortal danger, he stepped forward, using his thunder Qi to form a defensive wall.

"Run!" he commanded the disciples, his voice turning firm.

He did not hesitate. He grabbed the nearest junior sisters and threw them safely out of the expanding spatial storm. Alongside him, Feng Wan’er did the same, pushing her proud disciples toward the safety of the valley entrance.

"Go!" Jun Tianya shouted, throwing the last disciple through the collapsing portal.

Before he could leap out himself, a massive chunk of stone wall fell, blocking the exit. The silver vortex imploded, sealing the entrance and trapping Jun Tianya and Feng Wan’er inside the ruined space.

For three months, the collapsed realm was a nightmare of darkness and endless demonic beasts.

Trapped in a collapsing space, the two rivals were forced to cooperate. Jun Tianya could no longer afford to act as a frivolous youth. He fought tirelessly, shielding Wan’er from the beast attacks, while she used her sword to protect his back.

In the quiet moments between battles, as they shared their remaining spirit stones and pills to heal their wounds, their initial rivalry melted away. Jun Tianya saw the deep resolve behind her fierce eyes, and Wan’er discovered the reliable, serious man beneath his playful exterior.

By the time they found a weak node in the spatial barrier and broke out of the realm, their hearts were intertwined.

In the five years that followed, they continued to meet in secret. As their relationship deepened, Jun Tianya’s frivolous antics and carefree attitude began to fade, showing his gradual maturity.

In a secluded courtyard inside the Heavenly Phoenix Sect, the cold wind rustled the red leaves.

"You must stop this, Sister," a young woman said, her voice filled with panic. She was her sister. "The elders are suspicious. You are the Holy Maiden. You are to be betrothed to the Holy Son of the Heavenly Sword Sect to seal our alliance. If the Sect Master learns of your meetings with that Jun Tianya, it will ruin your reputation."

Feng Wan’er stood near a stone table, her palms gently resting on her slightly bulging belly, and looked at the distant mountains.

"I cannot marry the Holy Son of the Heavenly Sword Sect," she said, her voice soft but filled with a quiet determination.

"But why?" the Junior Sister asked, her face pale with worry, as she took her hand. "You must think of the sect!"

"I am carrying Tianya’s child," she whispered, a gentle smile touching her lips. "I want to keep it as a surprise for Tianya. I will tell him the next time we meet."

The Junior Sister gasped, her face turning pale.

The secret could not be kept. Within weeks, the pregnancy news leaked and became public. The scandal shook the Heavenly Phoenix Sect. Disgraced and stripped of her title, she was forced to step down and was placed in deep seclusion. Her Junior Sister was named the new Holy Maiden, carrying the burden of the sect’s expectations.

Five years passed.

Seeking to redeem herself, Feng Wan’er left her seclusion. She accepted a dangerous mission alone.

She never returned.

Heavy rain poured from the dark sky, washing over a ruined valley.

Young Jun Tianya stood alone in the sky. He had marched across the continent when he heard the news of her death.

Below him, the valley where Wan’er was ambushed lay in absolute ruin, the mountains and forest completely flattened and scorched by lightning.

Elder Wei flew up, his face grim.

"Young Master," Elder Wei said, his voice heavy. "The investigation is complete. It was an ambush. The culprits are confirmed to be associated with the demonic Nine Shadows Sect."

Jun Tianya did not speak. He looked down at the empty valley. A piece of his soul died on that day, replaced by a cold desire for vengeance.

Shortly after, Jun Tianya succeeded his father, the previous Sect Master, as the new leader of the Heavenly Cloud Sect.

On the day of his ascension, he stood before the assembly of elders in the Heavenly Dao Hall. His robes were clean, and his expression was completely devoid of any warmth. He did not smile, and he did not speak of peace.

He delivered his very first command as Sect Master.

"We will launch an all-out war. I order the total annihilation of the Nine Shadows Demon Sect and every other demonic faction on this continent. Leave nothing but ash."

No one could question him. No one dared to challenge him. For them, the Sect Master was still that unmatched prodigy who had crushed anyone who dared to challenge him, established numerous alliances with other sects, and ushered in an era of unprecedented order within the Heavenly Cloud Sect and its region.

The war against the demonic factions began that day, earning him the terrifying title of the Devil of Lightning.

In the border territory of the Heavenly Phoenix Sect.

Sect Master Jun Tianya stood in the sky directly above an outpost of the Nine Shadows Demon Sect. His long sleeves fluttered in the wind. He was not wearing his formal Sect Master robes. Instead, he wore his ancient, lightning-inscribed robes, the dark fabric pulsing with a faint violet light.

Three elders stood silently behind him. In the distance, a lady in red robes from the Heavenly Phoenix Sect stood in the air, watching him.

Three hundred years had passed, but the debt of blood had not been forgotten.

Jun Tianya raised his hand, his eyes flashing with violet lightning.

’It is time to pay for your sins,’ the Sect Master muttered as he raised his right hand.

"Purple Firmament Divine Lightning - Thunderfall Annihilation!"
