I Became the Blacksmith NPC
Chapter 51: Your Attributes Have Reached the Limit of This Area!"Want to enhance it further?" The second enhancement naturally succeeded, and the Gale Spear's attack power climbed to 75! Night's Gentle Chill stared at that number with envy, though since the weapon was exclusive to the Spear Walker class, it wouldn't do him any good even if he had it.
"Alright, thanks, Master Liu—"
Before Night's Gentle Chill could finish, he turned his head and saw Liu Kongkong standing right beside Sunny Sky.
"Are you really not going to enhance it further?" Liu Kongkong murmured softly into Sunny Sky's ear. "The next strike adds 18 points, you know~ After a successful enhancement, the attack power would be 93~ This weapon stays with you for life. Once it grows stronger later on, the price for enhancing it won't be this cheap anymore~"
A devil was whispering...
Night's Gentle Chill's expression darkened. The next strike would cost 640,000! He glanced over at Sunny Sky and was shocked to find the man actually wavering!
Sunny Sky couldn't help it. He understood how precious the Gale Spear was — this weapon would almost certainly accompany him through his entire time in Hunt Heaven, and he wanted to make it as strong as possible. But his finances simply wouldn't allow it. He'd agreed to help run the dungeon in the first place just to earn some money, and the past few strikes had left him dazed. In barely a minute, Night's Gentle Chill had spent over 900,000!
"Can I owe you for now?" Since the other party was an NPC, Sunny Sky had no suspicions. The spear had changed its form once when he reached level 11, so it was currently in its second stage. He was now level 19 — two more levels and the spear would reach its third stage. When he wanted to enhance it again at that point, what would the price be? 640 gold? Or 6,400 gold?
"Owe me?" Liu Kongkong was momentarily stunned. The world had finally gone mad in ways he couldn't comprehend. First, some genius had tried to buy out an NPC's entire stock to scalp it, and now someone wanted to run a tab with an NPC? Still, he didn't doubt Sunny Sky's ability to earn money. Compared to ordinary classes, a hidden class should at least have some advantages, right? Working as a fighter-for-hire ought to bring in decent coin.
"Owing me is absolutely out of the question." With in-game currency prices crashing right now, waiting a few days would bleed me dry. But Liu Kongkong wasn't a heartless person either: "Let me point you in another direction — there's someone nearby called Big Dum—"
"Master Liu! I think you must have things to attend to — we won't take up any more of your time!" The moment Night's Gentle Chill heard Liu Kongkong about to say "Big Dumb Duck," he cut him off immediately. Are you trying to sabotage me?! I spent all that money and you're going to send him straight to Big Dumb Duck with one sentence?!
"Me? I don't have anything going on. It's just that Big Dumb Duck—" But before he could finish, Sunny Sky had already been hustled away by Night's Gentle Chill.
What a shame. So close.
Liu Kongkong shook his head and walked back into the blacksmith shop, gazing at the floor covered in neatly arranged, gleaming blue-grey "black iron flakes."
"If that guy could keep coming here for enhancements, the money would just about add up." After hours of careful deliberation, Liu Kongkong had decided he really needed to save up and buy a villa on the outskirts of Ningcheng. Quiet, and if anything happened, it wouldn't affect the neighbors. He'd checked before logging in — some villas in the suburbs were within his price range, though renovation and ongoing upkeep would cost a fair bit.
"Still need to finish making this outfit." Liu Kongkong bent down and picked up one of the "black iron flakes." Each flake was about the size of a fingernail, and each came with its own weapon panel.
Water Drop — Attack 5, Attack Speed 1, Durability 100
That's right — every single black iron flake was its own individual weapon. And over the past stretch of time, Liu Kongkong had already crafted over seven thousand of them. After processing through the Looks Are Justice skill, the originally jet-black flakes had changed color.
"Get to ten thousand flakes, then assemble them one by one..." The finished product had already taken shape in Liu Kongkong's mind. If all went well, the final piece would be an elegant, softly glowing long dress. If things didn't go well — well, Liu Kongkong had no idea what it would end up looking like.
A few more hours passed, and the ten-thousandth "Water Drop" was finally crafted.
"Now comes the assembly." He carefully picked up two Water Drops, stacked them together, raised his hammer, and gave them a gentle tap~
Clang — the two flakes fused into one.
"It works. Though the workload is a bit... substantial..."
He kept hammering away until the sky outside began to darken.
He closed up the shop, made a perfunctory trip to the Village Chief's place for the nightly meeting, and — just like yesterday — every NPC in the room deliberately turned their heads away from him.
Hmph. A bunch of people with guilty consciences who can't face me.
After building the Void Space, he'd thought it over carefully. Combining the NPCs' earlier behavior with the absurd time limit on the Void Space, it wasn't hard to guess that these people had simply been afraid of dying. But since he didn't know about the puppet situation, Liu Kongkong chalked it all up to them having a guilty conscience.
He returned to the blacksmith shop, checked the time, then checked his character attributes.
It had been over ten hours since he'd last allocated stat points — he'd been too busy crafting equipment to bother.
"Quick stat allocation, then log off and rest for a bit."
He'd been staring at tiny little fragments all day long and his eyes were nearly crossing. Though he called it a "quick" allocation, the reality was...
"6,771 attribute points. This is also a massive undertaking."
In Hunt Heaven, attribute points could only be added one at a time. For ordinary players, this wasn't an issue — attribute points were precious, and every single one required careful consideration. Unlike a certain someone whose allocation philosophy was simply: whatever's fastest.
First, he brought Spirit up to 1,001, which pushed his Mana past ten thousand.
"Strength and Agility are both at 1,000 right now — those can wait a bit." Besides, 1,000 Agility was already starting to affect his daily life. Several times today he'd lost focus and nearly bolted straight out of the blacksmith shop!
Constitution it is, then — bring it up to 9,999 first. Ten thousand felt a bit risky. If his real-world body underwent another dramatic transformation, Liu Kongkong wouldn't even know how to explain it to the people around him.
With a thought, the Constitution value on his character panel began skyrocketing!
One minute later.
"Only 300 points added so far. This is kind of boring."
Liu Kongkong yawned and turned to look out the window. During the day while he was open for business, the scalpers outside had been listless and sluggish — but now that he'd closed up, their trade was picking back up. He watched the players outside haggling furiously, faces flushed, and found himself thoroughly entertained.
"These scalpers are absolutely shameless — selling a one-silver-coin weapon at ten times the price."
He watched one scalper get chased around the entire Starter Village by a furious player brandishing a sword, with the village guards then chasing after the player in turn — a whole crowd outside roaring with laughter. Liu Kongkong couldn't help but smile.
But in the very next second, a flash of red light blazed across his vision, and his smile froze instantly...

What is going on?!
At the first warning, Liu Kongkong froze — and when he looked back at his panel, he saw Constitution tick from 9,999 to 10,000!
He frantically stopped allocating points, but it was already too late!
Watching Constitution slowly climb from 10,000 to 10,001, Liu Kongkong's jaw dropped, and he turned to stone on the spot.
We're cooked!! No — stay calm!
Liu Kongkong rubbed his eyes, took a deep breath, and carefully examined his attribute panel.
