Cheng Rui’s words were vague, but Wang Haoran could more or less guess what she meant.

He didn’t respond right away. Cheng Rui was a deeply calculating woman, and lying came naturally to her.

“ You already told me Qin Fan is dangerous. If something went wrong while you slipped into the Ma family villa, it wouldn’t just hurt you—it would drag me down too. How could I possibly let that happen?”

She continued, her voice steady. “Or look at it another way. Do you really think I would ever do something that harms myself?”

Wang Haoran didn’t answer at first, so Cheng Rui spoke again.

“Alright. I believe you,” he finally said.

He had been overly cautious just now, doubting her for no reason. But if Cheng Rui’s favorability rating toward him was already maxed out, she would never do anything to hurt him. Her words had to be true.

Once that became clear, Wang Haoran no longer felt any suspicion, but he did feel a bit intrigued. If he had maxed out her affection, did that mean he could “cure” her cold personality too? The idea was unexpectedly amusing.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t that kind of scumbag.

“If he wants to handle that, let him,” Wang Haoran replied casually.

He originally planned to release the footage himself, but if Ma Hongsheng wanted to do the dirty work for him, that saved him the trouble.

“Mm, I understand.” Cheng Rui nodded.

“Let’s leave it at that. We’ll talk if anything comes up.”

After leaving the Ma family villa, Qin Fan found himself thinking about how to make money.

He waited several days, expecting a huge payout from Ma Hongsheng, but with the company suddenly in crisis, that plan had collapsed.

He couldn’t sit around anymore. With all the skills he possessed, earning money wasn’t supposed to be hard. The only reason he hadn’t made a move earlier was to maintain his mysterious and profound image. He also genuinely believed Ma Hongsheng would deliver the money as promised.

But things were different now.

Even someone with lofty status still needed to survive. Sure, he had a luxury mansion, a high-end car, and a personal driver that was all gifted by Ma Hongsheng, but now that the man’s company was in trouble, who knew if those assets might end up getting seized or mortgaged?

Relying on others would always be a dead end.

Qin Fan had many ways to make money, but most of them required time and patience to bear fruit. Running a business took far too long, and he had no interest in that kind of slow grind.

He wanted something fast.

After giving it some thought, the first idea that came to mind was offering medical treatment—specifically, treating the wealthy. People with money were always eager to find miracle doctors.

Once he returned to the villa, he picked up the landline and called Ma Hongsheng.

“Xiao Ma, do you have any friends suffering from serious or rare illnesses? Introduce me to a few.”

Qin Fan didn’t bother with pleasantries. As soon as the call connected, he got straight to the point.

On the other end, Ma Hongsheng clenched his teeth in frustration. He suppressed the irritation bubbling in his chest and responded as calmly as he could.

“The people in my circle are all well-off and have their own private physicians. They get regular checkups. No one’s dealing with any major illnesses.”

Ma Hongsheng was shrewd. The moment Qin Fan brought it up, he knew the guy was trying to make money from medical consultations. There was no way he’d help him with that.

“Not even one?” Qin Fan pressed.

“I really don’t know anyone like that,” Ma Hongsheng said, pretending to think it over before brushing him off.

Seeing that he was getting nowhere, Qin Fan hung up the phone, a little annoyed.

Soon after, it was lunchtime.

He got into the chauffeur-driven car and headed to the usual high-end hotel where he’d been eating for the past several days. The staff there had already become familiar with him.

“Sir, what would you like today?” one of the waiters approached respectfully and handed him a menu.

Qin Fan took it, ordered a few dishes, then said, “Let’s start with these. If I need more later, I’ll call you.”

“Of course, please wait a moment,” the waiter replied politely.

After a short while, the food arrived.

Qin Fan tried a few bites but didn’t like the flavor. He ordered a replacement dish, but that one didn’t impress him either. Lifting a hand, he signaled the nearby waiter.

The waiter walked over and handed him the menu again. He didn’t seem surprised at all.

Qin Fan had been eating here for several days, and his palate was extremely picky. Whenever something didn’t suit his taste, he would send it back and order something else. The staff had already gotten used to this routine.

Just as he reached out to take the menu and pick something new, a thought suddenly crossed his mind. He stopped and pulled his hand back.

“Call your head chef over,” he said.

The waiter didn’t know what was going on but complied without hesitation. After all, this guest held a supreme VIP card and was considered one of the hotel’s top-tier clients. They couldn’t afford to upset him.

Soon, the waiter returned with a middle-aged man wearing a pristine white chef’s hat.

“Good afternoon, sir. I’m the head chef here at Jinhao Hotel. Is there something wrong with the dishes today?” the man asked politely.

“The food was terrible,” Qin Fan said bluntly. “What you served was absolute garbage.”

The chef’s expression darkened slightly. He thought Qin Fan had come to make trouble, but knowing the man was a supreme client, he forced himself to stay composed.

“If you’re not satisfied, I can personally prepare something new for you,” he offered, still maintaining a polite tone.

“No need. Take me to the kitchen. I’ll cook it myself,” Qin Fan said.

Both the chef and the waiter were stunned, then exchanged looks of disbelief.

“If that’s what you wish, please follow me,” the chef said eventually.

Being a VIP came with special privileges. Since Qin Fan insisted, he had no choice but to allow it.

As they walked through the hotel on the way to the back kitchen, a faint smile crept onto Qin Fan’s face.

This idea had just come to him on a whim.

Cooking at a master level was one of the many skills he had acquired. After tasting those bland dishes earlier, he suddenly thought—why not use his culinary talent to make money?

Compared to this hotel chef, his skills were leagues apart.

He was fully confident that once he showed off his ability, the chef would be floored—probably even worship him on the spot.

And once that happens, things will go smoothly.

He had countless rare and exquisite recipes stored in his memory. Anyone who tasted them would never forget the experience. With that kind of appeal, he could easily gain leverage.

Once he impressed the chef, the next step was to meet the hotel owner and discuss business. Whether he took a part-time role as a guest chef or sold his signature recipes, it wouldn’t matter. Either way, money would follow.

While thinking about all this, another figure surfaced in his mind.

“I wonder where she is now,” he muttered.

That girl who once studied cooking under him had been truly special. Compared to Tantai Yaoyue, her looks were a notch below, but she was still a rare beauty by any standard. Her long legs alone were enough to make any man lose control.

Just imagining her made Qin Fan’s blood stir.

She finished her training and left the mountain years ago. With the skills he had passed on to her, she must have achieved something significant by now.

The only question was—where in the world was she now?
