At Qingling University, the afternoon classes for the Finance Department were scheduled back-to-back. The second period had just ended, and there were still two more to go. During the short break between classes, Wang Haoran received another message from Shao Wanwan.

“Got the info. The girl Gu Yurou mentioned, who pushed her, is named Chen Linlin. She’s a junior at the University. Her father is in the hotel business and runs a chain called Jinhao Hotel Group. Their properties stretch across the country. The group hasn’t gone public yet, but the assets are nothing to sneeze at. Estimated valuation is somewhere between thirty and thirty-five billion.”

Wang Haoran glanced at the message without much expression. It was exactly what he had expected. In these female-oriented storylines, any villain who gets screen time usually comes from an impressive background. Either the family was powerful, or the villain themselves was a force to be reckoned with.

“Jinhao Hotel Group…” The name stirred something in his memory. Wasn’t the hotel where Qin Fan had his meal also called Jinhao?

With that thought, Wang Haoran quickly searched online for more details. Sure enough, the group’s headquarters were located right here in Qingling.

He didn’t particularly feel like taking a trip to the University, nor did he have any interest in seeing Gu Yurou face-to-face. After thinking for a moment, he opened his recent call list, found his father’s number, and dialed.

“Dad, do you know the boss of Jinhao Hotel Group?”

“Chen San? We’re not exactly close, but we’ve talked before,” Wang Xiang replied, then his voice turned low. “Son, did Chen San do something to you? Need me to find someone and take care of him?”

“No, not him.” Wang Haoran spoke calmly. “It’s his daughter, Chen Linlin. She’s been going after a dumb friend of mine over and over again. Could you reach out and ask him to teach his daughter a little discipline? Tell her to leave my dumb friend alone.”

Wang Xiang blinked when he heard how his son described his “friend,” but didn’t dig into it. Instead, he gave a simple reply, “Alright, I’ll call him now.”

Once the call ended, Wang Xiang scrolled through his contacts and found Chen San’s number. Being part of the same circle of business moguls in Qingling, they’d seen each other at plenty of events. Unless there was bad blood, they all maintained at least a polite acquaintance.

After a few rings, the call connected.

“Old Wang, what’s the occasion?” Chen San’s voice came through cheerful and casual.

“Old Chen, your hotel business is booming these days. I figured I’d call and learn a thing or two,” Wang Xiang teased lightly.

“Cut it out,” Chen San laughed. “With how deep your family’s hands are in every industry, I doubt you’re seriously looking at hospitality. And anyway, the hotel scene in Qingling’s already saturated. Anyone trying to squeeze in now is just throwing money away. Just tell me what you really called for.”

Wang Xiang chuckled. “No wonder your business is doing so well. You’ve got sharp instincts.” Then his tone shifted slightly as he got to the point. “Your daughter, Chen Linlin, has been messing with a friend of my son’s named Gu Yurou. I wanted to ask if you could talk to her, maybe get her to back off.”

There was a brief silence on the other end. Chen San didn’t immediately agree. “I’ll have to check with her first. Give me a moment.”

Wang Xiang wasn’t surprised and smiled faintly. “I’ll wait for your good news, then.”

After hanging up, Chen San immediately called his daughter.

But the call was barely through a single ring before it was declined. Frowning, he figured she was in class and shot her a message asking her to return the call when she was free.

Roughly ten minutes later, Chen Linlin called back.

“You done with class?” Chen San’s voice was warm and fatherly.

“I was playing Honor of Kings,” her voice came sharp and annoyed. “You wouldn’t stop calling, and now I lost the match. So annoying.”

Chen San wasn’t the least bit angry. He was clearly used to this kind of attitude from her. In a soothing voice, he asked, “Linlin, did you get into something at school with a girl named Gu Yurou?”

“How’d you know?” Chen Linlin sounded genuinely surprised.

“Just got off the phone with Wang Xiang from Wang Group. His son’s friends with this Gu Yurou. He asked me to talk to you and see if you’d stop messing with her. What do you think?”

Chen Linlin’s mood turned even more sour. She hadn’t expected Gu Yurou to have a Rich Second Gen backing her. If this so-called friend helped Gu Yurou pay back that fifty grand, then Gu Yurou might avoid jail altogether.

That was the last thing Chen Linlin wanted.

But if they really wanted to help Gu Yurou, there wasn’t much she could do to stop them. She’d just have to find another way.

“There’s no way I’m letting her off the hook,” she snapped. Her tone was final, leaving no room for negotiation.

“Linlin, the Wang family isn’t someone we want to tangle with. Give them this small favor, alright?” Chen San tried to persuade her again.

“Dad, you’re worth hundreds of billions. Why are you so scared of everyone? Just because they’re the Wang family? So what? Why should I back down just because they asked?” Her voice was full of disdain. “And that son of his? Who the hell does he think he is? Just because he wants me to stop, I’m supposed to stop? Screw that.”

“Can’t you reconsider?” Chen San gave it one last try.

“No. Way. In. Hell.” She enunciated every word with icy resolve.

Chen San sighed softly. “Alright, I’ll let Wang Xiang know.”

He didn’t press the matter. He had always indulged his daughter, and even though Wang Group wasn’t a force to take lightly, he wasn’t about to let his own child bend over backwards to please someone else.

He redialed Wang Xiang.

“Old Wang, sorry. My daughter’s firm on this. She said there’s no chance she’s backing down.”

Wang Xiang had been waiting with a smile, expecting things to go smoothly. But as soon as he heard those words, his face darkened instantly.

Chen San might be standing up for his daughter, but Wang Xiang had his pride too. If he couldn’t even handle something this small for his own son, how could he look him in the eye?

“Chen San,” he said coldly, dropping the polite tone. “We’ve known each other a long time. I don’t want to make things ugly. Are you really not going to try talking to her again?”

Chen San’s tone turned just as sharp. “Wang Xiang, don’t tell me how to raise my kid.”

“Fine, Chen San. Just you wait.”

With that, Wang Xiang slammed down the call and immediately dialed his son.

Wang Haoran was still in class when he saw his father calling. He hunched low behind his desk and discreetly picked up.

“Son, that Chen San refused to give me face. But don’t worry—I’ll take care of this. I’ll have someone kidnap his daughter and teach them a lesson they won’t forget.”

“Dad, leave it alone. I’ll handle it myself,” Wang Haoran muttered, voice low so the teacher wouldn’t hear. He ended the call, stood up without hesitation, and walked straight out of the classroom.

With Liu Yue covering for him, skipping class was hardly an issue.

He headed straight to the campus parking lot, got into his Pagani, and made for Normal University.

He had hoped this would be handled cleanly, but in the end, it always came back to him.

“Chen Linlin, huh…”

A cold smile crept onto Wang Haoran’s lips.

He was going to give this pampered heiress a proper lesson.

Otherwise, this trip wouldn’t be worth it.
