Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Lysander’s pov

I couldn’t believe it, it wasn’t a scratch. Not with the amount of blood that was dried on the sheets, I would bet that I had done more than leave a scratch on him. How he could be so calm and detached after getting mauled was beyond me.

"C-can I see it?" I asked, still marinating in guilt. "The injury?"

He nodded once before slowly loosening the bandage, exposing his wrist to my view.

I felt myself pale at the ugly bite that marred his otherwise flawless skin. It looked red and angry, a little inflamed. Blood clot had begun to form over the exposed tissue.

I shrank, shame twisting my insides. Why the hell had I bitten him like some rabid animal? I barely remembered it.

If it wasn’t for the coppery flavor I had tasted in my mouth earlier and the fact that I knew the professor was too serious to lie, I would have doubted I had inflicted such damage on him.

"I’m sorry." I mumbled, fixing my eyes on the sheets. "I don’t know what I was thinking."

Slightly cool fingers tilted my chin upwards. I swallowed convulsively, trying to stop the tears that gathered at the corners of my eyes.

His eyes softened, and a vaguely pitying look appeared on his face. "Don’t cry. I’m serious, it doesn’t hurt."

He was clearly lying to make me feel better. It made me simultaneously better and worse, guilt joined with the helpless pleasure I felt over his concern.

What must he think of me? The professor knew I had been with Gideon, that little boy, as he had disdainfully called him. As if that wasn’t bad enough, now I had gone and mauled his wrist like a dog.

He probably thought I was a deranged animal who went around biting people willy-nilly.

He continued speaking quietly, "It was my fault, to be honest. I pushed you hard yesterday. You looked like you were in pain, so I gave you my hand. I just didn’t expect you to bite as hard as you did."

"Still," I said, distressed.

He smiled. It was a faint smile, full of amusement and what looked like a trace of pity. "Still, nothing. I told you I’m fine. If anything, I’m more worried about you than myself."

My heart warmed. He was worried about me. My stomach started flipping with happiness.

"I-I’m okay too." I tucked a lock of my long hair behind my ear.

His eyes trailed over my body deliberately, and I felt my skin heat up as his gaze traced over it.

My ass twitched, I could feel the response as the juice coated my hole.

I flushed harder. Thank god the professor had no idea what was happening. I would die of embarrassment if he ever found out how much of a whore I was for him.

"I can see that." He said finally. "Although I find it curious you didn’t seem to feel any pain back then."

I blinked, confused by his words. " Why would I be? Tongue piercings don’t hurt that much, do they?"

"They don’t." He agreed. "But I’m not’talking about that. You drank my blood last night, yet you’re perfectly fine."

He gave me a considering look. "It’s almost like we’re the same kind."

I blinked. "Of the same kind? What on earth are you talking about? Of course we’re both humans."

The edge of his lips lifted up in a slight smirk, "Humans.." He echoed, his amusement growing. "Right. I forgot how hopelessly oblivious you are to reality."

Indignation flared before I could stop it. "What’s that supposed to mean?"

He smiled fully, gingerly setting aside the bandage onto the bedside table. "I’Il show you."

He walked away to the dressing table where the tray was. Wondering what exactly he was doing, I watched him return.

I noticed the sharp, elegant table knife in his grip. I had seen it earlier on the breakfast tray, but I hadn’t bothered to use it since I had been too hungry.

"Why are you with the table knife?" I asked, my gaze glued to the sharp object. What exactly was he planning?

"Like I said," He said, perusing the edge of the knife with apparent approval written on his expression.

"Showing you. You’ll soon see how wrong you are."

With his eyes fixed on mine, the professor brought the knife up to his palm and drew it down in a single slash. The motion had been too fast for me to register at first, or I would have stopped him before he had done it.

I gasped, springing to my feet. I barely registered jumping out of the bed. If I had, I would not have forgotten that I was still completely naked from the events of the previous night.

The duvet slithered over my naked body before falling against the side of the bed. Stepping closer to him I grabbed his arm, looking down at his bleeding palm. "No!"

Snatching the knife from his grip, I tossed it onto the bed.

"Why would you do that to yourself?" My fingers pressed onto the wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. It didn’t help.

Fresh blood spilled, trickling over the ivory skin of his arm.

"Fuck." I muttered, looking around for something to use and stop the bleeding. There was nothing nearby for me to use.

I glared up at him. "What the hell was that supposed to prove? All you’ve done is hurt yourself..."

My voice died the second my brain registered that something was wrong.

Something was very fucking wrong

The first thing I noticed was the color of his eyes.

The original color had completely vanished, leaving in its place a chilling, scarlet red. They glowed, the hue literally shifting and swirling with the rapid catastrophe of a twisting tornado.

I recalled seeing his eyes like that yesterday. I’d convinced myself it was a trick of the light. People’s eyes didn’t just change colors.

But his did.

Then my gaze caught on the thick veins that snaked up from his neck to below his chin. His skin was an unnatural shade of white, pale and lifeless, completely akin to a marble sculpture.

My eyes dropped on his flushed lips as the deafening sound of rushing blood roared in my ears. They parted in a wide grin that looked nothing like a grin.

That probably had to do with the distended canines that glinted, the points impossibly sharp.
