Chapter 95: Chapter 95

Lysander’s pov

"Hhh—ah..."

I gasped loudly when I woke up. I opened my eyes and adjusted to the view.

I was lying on a plush leather sofa in an unfamiliar room, the dark ceiling spinning slightly above me.

I sat up immediately, my heart hammering against my ribs as cold panic set in. I checked my body, no ropes, no chains.

But my collar was gone, my skin completely bare. The bond in my chest felt faint and smothered, dulled by whatever Matt had slipped into my drink at the bar.

My head throbbed with a dull, sickening ache that vibrated behind my eyes. I was lying on a sofa, the smooth material cold against my bare arms.

Panic, sharp and icy, cut straight through the lingering fog of Matt’s paralytic. My heart hammered wildly against my ribs like a trapped bird.

I sat up, my knees trembling so violently they knocked together. I looked down at my hands and was surprised I had no ropes.

My breath hitched in my throat. I reached for my neck, my fingers scrambling over my collarbone, but my collar was gone, replaced by bare, exposed skin. The bond in my chest felt strangely muted, a faint, distant hum smothered under a thick layer of chemical numbness.

I didn’t waste a second. I scrambled off the sofa, my legs wobbly as I bolted toward the heavy mahogany door at the far end of the room.

My shaking fingers clamped onto the brass handle and yanked it down. The latch gave way with a sharp click.

I threw the door open, ready to sprint into whatever hallway lay beyond—

Thwack.

I slammed straight into a broad, solid chest.

The impact knocked the air from my lungs, sending me stumbling back half a step. A pair of heavy, iron-like hands clamped onto my shoulders, stabilizing me before I could fall.

"Going so soon, little bro?" a smooth, terrifyingly familiar voice purred from above me. "It’s exceedingly rude to leave without saying goodbye to your host."

I froze. Cold sweat erupted across my back as I slowly forced my gaze upward.

Staring down at me were two icy, pale eyes glowing with a dark, unhinged malice. A slow, cruel smirk stretched across Gideon’s face, his hair slicked back perfectly, his fingers digging tight into my shoulders.

Horror, absolute and suffocating, seized my throat. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t scream.

I recoiled, trying to yank myself backward, but he stepped forward into the doorway, using his massive frame to box me back into the dimly lit room.

He kicked the heavy mahogany door shut behind him with his heel. The heavy deadbolt slid home with a loud, metallic screech that sounded like a coffin lid snapping shut.

My coffin lid.

"Did you miss me?" He asked as he took a step towards me.

I took two frantic steps backward, my heels digging into the thick rug until my lower back hit the edge of a heavy glass table. My hands clutched the edge behind me, my dark eyes wide and terrified as I tracked his every move.

When I didn’t answer, Gideon tilted his head, letting out a low, patronizing sigh. He stepped closer, towering over me, his pale eyes scanning my trembling frame with a sickening, possessive hunger.

"Don’t be shy, Lysander," he coaxed, "You can admit it and tell me how much you missed having your stepbrother’s cock ramming deep down your hole while you begged for more."

A wave of nausea rolled through my stomach, the bitter taste of bile rising in my throat. I shook my head frantically, my knuckles turning paper-white against the glass table. "You’re sick," I rasped, my voice cracking under the weight of my terror. "You’re fucking sick, Gideon."

He let out a sharp, amused bark of laughter. "You know, I’ve been hearing that a lot lately," he sneered, casually adjusting the gold cufflinks at his wrists.

Suddenly, he stopped. He gasped loudly, slapping his palm against his chest in a dramatic, mock display of sudden realization, his eyes lighting up with unholy glee.

"Oh! I almost forgot—I have fantastic news for you!" Gideon declared, taking another step into my space. "My father and your precious mother are divorced now! Isn’t that wonderful? That means we aren’t even stepbrothers anymore. No more pesky family titles getting in our way."

My heart stopped, the air in the room felt like it had been sucked into a vacuum.

"What... what happened?" I whispered, my voice trembling so hard the words barely left my lips. "What did you do to her?"

Gideon’s smirk widened into a grotesque, triumphant grin. "Oh, I didn’t do anything. Your little saint of a mother finally opened her eyes and realized that Darius is a down-low, closeted pervert. She found out he’s gay, threw a massive fit, and walked out on him."

The floor felt like it was tilting beneath my feet. My heart sank straight into the pit of my stomach, a cold, crushing weight settling over my chest.

She was alone now. My mother was out alone.

Gideon cocked his head, watching the color drain completely from my face. A soft, mocking click of his tongue echoed off the walls.

"Does that make you sad, little freak?" He taunted, "Are you sitting there crying because you know the truth? Your precious mother left because she couldn’t handle the truth. And she’s never, ever going to accept a ran-through, ruined slut like you back into her life."

All the years, the anger I have built up because of Gideon kept hidden because I had no power or someone to run to.

The thought of my mother being alone and him still talking rubbish made me snap.

"Don’t talk about my mother like that!" I screamed into his face, my chest heaving. "Don’t you fucking dare mention her—!"

SLAP!

My head jerked violently to the side, my body stumbling sideways against the glass table as a searing, white-hot pain exploded across my face. Blood filled my mouth instantly from where my teeth cut the inside of my lip.

Before I could recover, Gideon lunged forward, grabbing a fistful of my hair at the back of my head.

He yanked my head backward with brutal, unforgiving force, forcing my face up toward his. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes as my scalp burned under his grip.

"You’re in no position to raise your voice to me, you little shit," he hissed, his face inches from mine, his breath hot and foul against my skin.

"You’ve provoked me enough for one lifetime. You ran away to that abomination, you let that vampire claim you and put his mouth all over what belongs to me."

He tightened his grip on my hair, yanking my head further back until my throat was entirely exposed, his thumb digging brutally into my jawline.

"It looks like I’m going to have to remind you exactly of your place," He whispered, his eyes burning with an unhinged, violent promise. "And by the time I’m done with you tonight, you won’t even remember that bastard’s name."
