Chapter 96: Chapter 96
Lysander’s pov
I almost scoffed at the blatant disrespect towards Drake. Gideon wouldn’t be calling him a bastard if he knew what Drake was capable of doing to him.
"What was that?" He growled in my ear.
"Y-you don’t know what you are talking about. He is not an abomination."
"Is that so?" He pulled my hair even harder.
Pain radiated across my scalp, sharp and blinding, as Gideon yanked my head back further. My throat exposed, my breath came in ragged, terrified hitches.
He sneered down at me from this angle, "It looks to me that you like this abomination? Have you been spreading your legs for him?"
When I didn’t respond, he pulled my hair again and I groaned.
"Did you thank him for protecting you by offering your cheap ass to him?" He seemed to think about it because he shook his head, "No, the professor wouldn’t sleep with someone as filthy as you. He is so refined and expensive looking."
I frowned, looking at Gideon talking about Drake like that made one thing clear, he had a crush on Drake.
I started to snicker, the more I thought about it, the more it was hard to believe.
"What’s funny, mutt?" He snapped.
"You have a crush on Drake."
The look on Gideon’s face was so appalled that I burst into laughter. His grip on my hair loosened.
"Oh my God!!! I can’t believe this! You have a crush on him?"
I nodded to myself, "I mean I could see it, he is good looking but I thought you were this big bad bully who didn’t need anyone. Are you mad that Drake would never sleep with you? He would but to punish you for hurting me."
"Shut up, you dirty whore." He snarled.
I laughed some more because I couldn’t resist, he was such an insecure fool. If he knew Drake would pick me a hundred times than take him for free, he would run mad.
"I said shut the fuck up!" He grabbed my hair again, tightening his fist till I could feel my scalp balding.
His jealousy was funny to me but it wouldn’t be when he decided to hurt me. Looking up into his arrogant, sneering face, I felt a type of anger.
I was no longer a helpless victim, I couldn’t let him push me around like his toy. I am much stronger now.
I raised both hands and jammed my fingernails straight into Gideon’s eyes.
"Fuck!" He shrieked, reeling backward.
His grip on my hair loosened just enough for me to tear myself free. He stumbled against the wall, clutching his face as blood pooled beneath his fingers where my nails had gouged his cheekbone.
I didn’t hesitate. I drove my foot straight into his groin with every ounce of strength left in my legs.
Gideon let out an ugly, wheezing gasp, his knees buckling as he doubled over, coughing violently.
I turned and bolted for the door, my hands scrambling for the deadbolt.
My fingers locked around the brass knob, twisting it frantically. The lock clicked, but before I could throw the door open, a heavy hand slammed against the wood beside my head, pinning the door shut.
Gideon’s hand wrapped around the back of my neck like a steel vice. He slammed my forehead straight into the solid wood paneling.
THUD.
White light exploded across my vision. My knees went completely out, my body sagging toward the carpet as a loud ringing filled my ears. Blood trickled down the bridge of my nose, dripping warm onto my upper lip.
"You fucking bitch!" He snarled in my ear, his voice trembling with psychotic rage.
He yanked me away from the door by my shirt collar, throwing me across the room. I crashed hard into the glass table. The heavy tabletop shattered beneath my weight, sending a spray of sharp shards across the rug and slicing through the fabric of my trousers.
I gasped, rolling onto my side, clutching my bleeding ribs. The room spun wildly, the ceiling blurring into dark shapes.
He marched toward me, wiping a smear of blood from his cheek with his sleeve. His eyes were completely unhinged, dilated to black, his chest heaving under his tailored suit jacket.
"You think you’re strong now?" Gideon barked, reaching down and grabbing my ankle in a crushing grip. He dragged me across the shattered glass, pulling me away from the door and toward the leather sofa. "You think space between us has made you untouchable? Have you grown wings since I last saw you?"
"Get off me!" I screamed, kicking wildly with my free leg. My heel struck his chest, but he barely flinched.
He dropped to his knees over me, pinning my thighs beneath his massive weight. He grabbed both of my wrists, slamming them above my head into the rug, his thumbs pressing into my pulse points until my fingers went numb.
I thrashed beneath him, arching my back, snapping my teeth, but his frame was an immovable wall. The paralytic Matt had slipped into my drink was still heavy in my bloodstream, making my muscles burn with exhaustion after every surge of effort.
Gideon leaned down, pressing his sweaty, blood-stained forehead against mine, his teeth bared in a sickening grin.
"Look at you," he whispered, his breath hot and foul against my mouth. "Fighting back. It makes it so much sweeter, Lysander. I’m going to break every single bone in your body before I take you."
He let go of my left wrist to reach for his belt buckle.
The second my left arm came free, I drove my thumb straight into the raw, open gouge on his cheekbone, digging deep into the wound.
Gideon roared in agony, his head snapping back.
I bucked my hips upward with everything I had, throwing him off balance. He tumbled off me, crashing sideways onto the sharp shards of broken glass scattered on the rug.
I dragged myself up onto my hands and knees, my breath coming in ragged, bloody gasps. My vision was swimming with dark spots, my head throbbing violently from the impact with the door, but I forced my legs to move.
I scrambled toward the door on all fours, leaving a smear of blood across the carpet behind me.
My hand reached the brass handle again. I yanked it down and threw the heavy door wide open into the hallway.
"Help!" I screamed, my voice cracking, raw and desperate. "Help me!"
A heavy hand clamped onto the back of my shirt, yanking me violently backward off my feet.
"Shut the fuck up!" Gideon screamed, dragging me back into the room by my collar.
He raised his heavy fist, bringing it down straight toward my face. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the impact—
BOOM.
The entire room shook. The air pressure in the hallway plummeted so fast my ears popped, and an angry scent instantly crushing the air straight out of my lungs.
Gideon froze, his fist hovering an inch from my eye.
