Lukas looked at him, curious.

"You managed to reinforce your entire body the instant you realized you were in danger." Clavor’s observation came with a glint in his eyes.

Lukas blinked, confused.

"Was that bad?"

"No." Clavor’s smile widened, a rare sign of genuine pride.

"It was very good."

Lukas was surprised, the confusion still in his eyes.

"Most beginners can’t do that consciously." Clavor explained, his voice filled with admiration.

"You hadn’t even fully learned the technique, and yet your body automatically distributed the mana when it sensed danger. Your survival instinct acted faster than your conscious mind."

Clavor withdrew his hand, his eyes still fixed on his son.

"You have a talent for control. But talent doesn’t replace experience. You need to learn to use that instinct consciously, not only in moments of danger."

Lukas nodded, absorbing the words. It made sense, his instinct had acted, but he needed to learn to control that response, to use it deliberately.

...

In the following hours, he started again. This time, without attempting absurd jumps, without testing the limits of his newly discovered strength.

First, he reinforced only one leg, using a minimal amount of mana. He walked, feeling the difference, the way the ground responded to his steps. Then he ran, testing the endurance of the reinforcement. Then he stopped, trying to feel exactly where the mana was and how it flowed.

Next, he reinforced his right arm, the sensation of power spreading through his muscles. He approached a thin tree, placed his palm against the trunk, and slowly increased the flow of mana. He pushed, and the tree trembled, its roots shifting in the soil.

Lukas smiled, a sense of accomplishment filling him.

"It worked."

"Again." Clavor’s voice came calmly, encouraging repetition.

He repeated the movement, this time using slightly less mana. The tree barely moved, a nearly imperceptible tremor that barely displaced its leaves.

"So there’s an ideal point..." Lukas murmured, the realization taking shape.

Clavor nodded, his eyes shining with approval.

"Exactly."

The training continued, hour after hour. Lukas reinforced both legs, finding the balance between strength and control.

He jumped only two meters, a modest height that allowed him to land perfectly, his knees absorbing the impact with ease. Then he reinforced his torso while running, feeling his endurance increase, his breathing remaining steady despite the exertion.

Next, he combined his legs and arms, trying to coordinate the flow of mana between different parts of his body. His mana consumption rose rapidly, the Lunar Source emptying faster than he expected. He had to stop, sitting on the ground and breathing deeply, his heart pounding.

The Lunar Source was partially empty, a reminder of his limits.

Clavor watched, his analytical eyes catching every detail. "How much did you consume?"

Lukas closed his eyes, assessing the state of his Source.

"More than half."

"And how long did you maintain the reinforcement?" The question was precise, testing his perception.

"Maybe three minutes." The estimate came with hesitation, but Lukas knew it was accurate.

"Then that will be one of your goals." Clavor pointed at him, his gesture emphatic.

"Learn to maintain the reinforcement for longer without unnecessarily increasing your consumption. Efficiency is just as important as strength."

Lukas nodded, understanding the lesson.

"I understand."

The sun was already beginning to descend when Clavor finally ended the training, his voice echoing through the clearing.

"That’s enough for today."

Lukas was exhausted, his muscles heavy, his clothes soaked with sweat. But his face carried a smile, an expression of accomplishment that no amount of exhaustion could erase. He had learned something new, something fundamental about the path he had chosen.

Mana wasn’t merely energy to cultivate, to store, or to sense. It was a tool, an extension of his own body. And, to use it properly, he would need to turn control into instinct and technique into second nature.

Clavor gathered the manual, his movements precise.

"For the next few days, we’ll continue like this. Gradually, you’ll learn to control the flow of mana with greater precision."

Lukas looked at the Lunar Source within him, feeling its presence. There was still much to learn, much to practice. But he was ready.

"I’m ready."

The two began walking back along the trail, their footsteps echoing through the silence of dusk. The sky was turning orange, the clouds painted in shades of fire and gold. The shadows of the trees stretched across the path, creating patterns that danced with the wind.

Lukas walked beside his father, feeling the pleasant fatigue spread throughout his body, a sense of accomplishment. He couldn’t help but think about one thing.

That morning, he had only wanted to learn how to strengthen his body, to use mana to become more powerful. Now he knew that he had begun something much greater, a journey that would require not only strength but also wisdom, discipline, and patience.

...

A week passed almost without Lukas noticing.

The days followed a simple and repetitive rhythm. Every morning, after breakfast, he accompanied Clavor to the clearing and spent hours training Lunar Reinforcement.

At first, he still wasted large amounts of mana. Sometimes, he reinforced one leg too much and ended up taking steps that were too powerful. Other times, he lost his concentration and allowed the flow to completely dissipate. But, little by little, the movements began to become natural.

He learned to reinforce both legs without thinking. Then, his arms. His torso. Finally, he began alternating the flow between different parts of his body while moving.

The amount of mana he could conserve also increased.

What had once lasted only a few minutes could now be maintained for much longer.

Clavor rarely praised him, but his satisfied looks were enough for Lukas to know that he was making progress.

On that seventh day, however, something would be different. Lukas stood before a thick tree, covered in an uneven layer of moss. He took a deep breath. He felt the Lunar Source pulsing inside his chest.

Then he guided a small amount of mana through the channels. All that energy began to concentrate in his legs. His muscles became tense.

Lukas looked at the trunk in front of him.

"Let’s find out how much I’ve really improved."
