I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 361: Not Lian Anymore ( Final )

"Where the hell did I end up?"

Her first instinct was to get away, she did not know these people, she did not know what had happened, she did not know who had attacked whom.

Maybe these people were enemies, maybe that girl was dangerous.

And that giant ant? She did not even want to know.

She could stand up, she could leave, but after taking only a few steps, she stopped and her eyes returned to the blood-covered girl.

She fought with herself for several seconds and then let out a frustrated breath.

"Damn it."

She turned back, knelt beside Seris, put two fingers on her neck, felt nothing for a few moments, frowned and moved them slightly.

Then... a pulse, it was very weak but it was there.

"Luckily, you’re alive."

She went to Aren, his pulse was also weak, but it was a little more regular than Seris’s.

The wounds where his arms had been cut off were closed, although his condition still looked dangerous.

Selina then looked at the ant, well, she really did not care whether a monster this scary was alive or dead.

She hesitated for a few seconds and then opened her storage space, she did not have many healing potions.

In this area, every potion could make the difference between her own life and death, but she looked at Seris again.

"I hope you’re not a bad person."

She took out a potion, slowly poured some of it into Seris’s mouth and waited to make sure she could swallow it.

A weak glow appeared over her body, the surface bleeding became weaker, and the torn skin around some wounds started to close.

But her destroyed eye, broken wrist, ribs and deeper wounds remained.

Selina gave another potion to Aren, its effect was similar, his pulse became a little more regular, his breathing became deeper and some color returned to his pale face.

"The rest is up to you." Then Selina moved a few meters away and sat down, she had done everything she could.

Some time later, Seris was the first one to wake up, her remaining eye suddenly opened, for several seconds she could not see anything clearly.

The red sky, the broken trunk of the tree, the face of a girl she did not know and then the memories returned.

The cocoon.

Lian.

Purple eyes.

One.

Her body suddenly moved, pain rose through almost every part of her body and her face tightened.

"Hey! Don’t move, your body—" Selina immediately stood up.

"One." But Seris did not even look at her, there was something more important than her pain right now.

With her healthy hand, she grabbed the ground and tried to pull herself forward, her injured leg did not have enough strength, she could not use her broken wrist, but she still moved.

"What are you doing? I told you not to move!"

The young Pendragon reached One, put her hand on the healthier part of his body armor and felt nothing for several seconds.

Her heart sank... was he really dead?

Then suddenly... the ant’s antenna moved very weakly!

Seris let out a breath, he was alive, although if this could be called living, and she turned her head toward Selina.

"Do you have more of what you gave me?"

"Yeah, but wait, who are you people? I don’t even know where this—" Selina said, still confused by her behavior.

"Give it to him." Seris interrupted her.

"What?"

"The same potion." She pointed at One with her chin.

"I don’t even know what this is." Selina looked at the ant, then back at Seris, why should she help an unknown monster?

"Lian’s friend."

"Lian?" The name was enough to make the girl’s eyes open wider as she looked at both of them in surprise.

"We’re his friends too." Seris nodded.

For a moment, the word itself felt strange in her mind.

Friend.

But she had no time to think about it.

"Save him. Then I’ll explain what’s going on."

Selina looked at her seriously for several seconds, then let out a frustrated breath.

It was strange that this girl knew Lian, what exactly was happening here? Why was a giant ant a friend of Lian? None of this made sense.

"Fine."

She took out another potion, knelt beside One’s head and carefully poured the liquid into his mouth.

Nothing happened for several seconds, then a weak healing light moved over the broken parts of his armor and the bleeding from the large wound on his side became slower.

His very weak breathing became a little easier to notice, but Seris understood with one look that it was not enough.

"Another one."

"I only have one more."

"Give it to him."

"But this is my last healing potion." Selina frowned.

"Give it to him." Seris said this time in a cold voice, her voice was not loud, but there was a clear warning in it.

"Do you know that we might need it ourselves in a few hours?"

"If Lian comes back and finds out that we let One die, your last potion will be the least of your problems."

Selina stared at her for several seconds, then her eyes moved to the ant, and finally she took out the last potion and gave it to One too.

The second potion had a clearer effect and the bleeding almost stopped, the movement of his body became more regular and his right antenna slowly rose and then fell back onto the ground.

Seris let out a breath of relief, the pressure that had been on her chest since she woke up became a little lighter.

’I never thought I would be this happy about an ant staying alive.’ she thought.

At that moment, a sound came from behind them, Aren opened his eyes, the man first looked at the sky in confusion.

Then he unconsciously tried to move a hand toward his head, but no hand moved, his face tightened for a moment and the memory returned like a hit.

His arms had been cut off in the battle with the Cindari leader.

He closed his eyes and took a hard breath and then looked again, Seris, One and the unknown girl who had been inside the cocoon... wait, the unknown girl who had been inside the cocoon?

How had this girl gotten out of the cocoon? And where was Lian?!

"Where is Lian?" Aren immediately asked.

Seris stayed silent and after hearing Lian’s name again, Selina did not wait this time and sat down in front of the young Pendragon.

"Alright, I gave two of my potions to you and two more to a giant ant that I don’t even know where it came from."

"Now I’d really appreciate it if someone told me who you are, what is happening here and how you know Lian."

"You were trapped inside a cocoon and you were turning into the vessel of a Calamity." Seris looked at her for several seconds and then said in the same direct tone she always used.

"...What?"

"Lian took your place to save you, the Calamity has taken Lian’s body and left."

Selina opened her mouth, but nothing came out, because she did not understand even one word of what she had heard.

"What did you say? The Calamity has taken Lian’s body?" But Aren suddenly raised his head and concern immediately replaced the confusion on his face.

Seris only nodded and Aren did not even breathe for several seconds.

He knew more than Selina what that sentence meant, Black Silence, the same thing that had destroyed the world, the same thing that had corrupted the Titan and was now inside Lian’s body.

"Wait." At the same time, Selina was still trying to put the previous sentences together and raised her finger.

"Cocoon?"

"Calamity?"

"Lian took my place?"

"Why was I even inside a cocoon?" she then asked in disbelief.

"Because the Calamity wanted to use you as its vessel." Seris simply said.

"Why me?"

"I don’t know."

"You don’t know?"

The young Pendragon picked up her fallen sword with her healthy hand, the pain from her broken wrist made her face tighten for a moment, but she said nothing.

"That’s it?" Selina was still staring.

"What do you mean, that’s it?"

"That was your explanation?"

"Yeah."

"Do you think what you said was understandable?" Selina really did not know what to say for several seconds.

"We don’t have time to explain." Seris tried to stand up, her knees shook for a moment and she had to lean against the root beside her.

"I don’t even know who you people are"

"Lian’s friends."

"You’ve said that three times"

Seris ignored her and gave One a short look and then Aren.

"If we can’t separate Lian from the Calamity..." She paused a little, the next words were not easy.

The Evolution Quest panel was still somewhere in her mind.

[Kill the Calamity.]

"We have to kill the Calamity."

Even if it was still inside Lian’s body? Seris had no answer to this question herself.

Her remaining eye fell on the ground, the image of those emotionless eyes returned to her mind, One being thrown into the tree, her own broken wrist.

But also that pause, that very short stop before the attack, and then the second pause, when the creature could have finished the job but did not.

She decided to first try to separate them, but if there was no way... then she would have to make another decision.

Then she straightened her body, almost immediately pain spread through her entire side again but she finally stood.

"We need to go back to the others."

"What others?" Selina frowned.

"Your friends, those annoying girls, Liana, Seraphina and that guy Rindo is there too."

Hearing those names made some of the tension leave Selina’s face, not because she understood what had happened, in fact, she might have been even more confused than before.

But finally, she had found a few familiar names among all this confusion.

And the blood-red sky above them was still becoming darker, the Forgotten Tree behind them was completely dead.

And somewhere much farther away, a creature with Lian’s face was moving away... a creature that Seris still did not know whether she should save... or kill.
