At first, she could barely see the white light, it was too white, and for a few seconds she could not see anything clearly.

Then the image slowly became clear, and the hospital ceiling, white walls, and small lights also entered her field of view.

Seris blinked and her eyes became slightly narrower, she was in the base, in Base #9, they had really returned and everything had not been just an illusion.

Her memories slowly came back.

The cemetery, the Titan, Black Silence, and Lian and all those damned events that she had experienced inside that Special Area, each one of them replayed in her mind.

And the scene that she could never forget... the moment when her blade had pierced through Lian’s chest.

Seris closed her eyes, but Lian’s face did not leave her mind, so she opened them again.

"Damn..." she whispered in a weak voice.

She did not want to think about it right now, she needed to calm her mind, and to distract herself, she opened the System panel.

[First Evolution Quest: Completed.]

[Evolution Path is available.]

[Evolution Path: Blade of moon]

Seris stared at the name for a moment, blade of moon, a name that strangely matched most of her path of power.

[Evolution information is available.]

[Would you like to view it?]

She was still about to choose the option when she heard the door opening, she turned her head slightly and a woman entered the room alone.

She had no guards with her, and of course, she did not need any.

Aurelia Pendragon entered with calm steps, and as soon as she noticed that Seris’s eyes were open, a smile appeared on her face.

"Finally awake." she said with satisfaction and walked directly to the bed.

Seris looked at her with a little surprise.

Without calling a healer, Aurelia held her palm a few centimeters above the girl’s body.

A very thin wave of mana passed through.

For someone at her level, checking the general condition of an Awakened did not require a healer or a doctor.

A few seconds later, she lowered her hand, and from her expression, it was clear that the young Pendragon was completely fine.

"I didn’t expect you to come yourself." Seris said in a voice that was still weak, but her familiar cold tone was slowly returning.

"We had no news about the greatest genius of our family for nine months." Aurelia said in a tone as if the answer should have been completely obvious.

Seris froze for a moment.

"Then suddenly they tell us that you came back and you’re almost at death’s door, and I’m your guardian, of course my family would send me."

"Nine months?" Seris was still stuck on the first part of the sentence and asked with a frown.

"Almost."

She stayed silent for a few seconds, she knew that there was a difference in time, she knew that time inside that world was not the same as outside.

But... nine months? Almost a year had passed in the outside world.

So many things had happened inside that the length of time no longer had a clear meaning for her.

And that meant that while they had spent about one month inside, the other Awakened had had nine full months to hunt, advance, and become stronger.

Probably all the geniuses their age had already completed their first evolution and were now getting close to their second evolution.

And them? It could not even be said that they had really completed their first evolution yet.

Then her thoughts moved for a moment toward the special reward that the System had given her before the transfer.

The corner of her lips moved very slightly, considering what she had received, perhaps those nine months were not completely worthless.

"Looks like a lot of things are going through that head of yours." Aurelia saw her expression and her eyes became slightly narrower.

She sat more comfortably in the chair and then changed her tone.

"What the hell did you guys do in there? I’ve heard a hundred stories with hundreds of different versions for three days, one says you fought an entire civilization, another says the world was going crazy, and some people talk about the death of a tree that they say the life of the world was connected to."

Seris said nothing, none of them were wrong, there were many stories to tell.

"But the most interesting version is the most popular one, in that one, you’re the hero of the story." Aurelia continued with amusement.

The young Pendragon’s face looked emotionless and surprised, and she laughed when she saw her reaction.

"When I first heard it, I couldn’t believe it, you? Playing the hero?"

"Lian was the main hero." Seris answered seriously, almost without thinking.

"Lian Vorhelm?" Aurelia asked with curiosity.

"He sacrificed himself to save everyone." She nodded and lowered her gaze slightly, and the image of his motionless body appeared in her mind again.

Silence filled the room for a few seconds, and then Aurelia laughed, at first it was only a short sound, but a moment later her laughter became louder.

Seris’s face immediately became cold, her eyes fixed on Aurelia in a dangerous way.

"What are you laughing at?" she asked in a calm but completely threatening voice, and there was even a kind of hidden killing intent in it.

But Aurelia only became more amused.

"Oh? Why did you become so defensive?" Aurelia said with a raised eyebrow, becoming even more amused, and then her smile became wider.

Seris frowned, suddenly she had a bad feeling, and she could predict that she was not going to like the next sentences.

Aurelia studied her face for a few moments, and then as if she had suddenly found something very interesting, she laughed again.

"Don’t tell me you actually fell in love in that world?" she asked mischievously.

"Shut up." The young Pendragon made a sound like an annoyed growl from her throat and answered with a frown.

"Okay, okay, don’t be so sensitive." Aurelia said while still laughing.

Seris looked at her without interest, and it was clear that she did not like those laughs at all.

"I wasn’t laughing at Lian."

"Then what were you laughing at?" She said coldly.

"The word sacrifice, why are you talking as if that boy is dead?" Aurelia asked with slight disbelief.

The entire room became silent for Seris, and for several seconds she could not hear any sound, as if her brain had received such a shock that it ignored everything.

"Because he’s dead, I killed him." she finally answered completely seriously.

"What?" This time the woman’s eyebrows really rose, and she asked in disbelief.

"I stabbed his heart with my sword, I felt his heartbeat stop myself." Seris lowered her gaze for a moment and said in a calm voice.

Aurelia said nothing for several seconds, her face slowly taking on an expression between confusion and worry, the first possibility that came to her mind was obvious.

Mental trauma.

Medicine.

Shock.

"Could the injuries you suffered have caused you to hallucinate?" she then asked carefully.

"I’m completely conscious." Seris’s eyes immediately became cold, and she answered in a firm tone.

Aurelia was still not convinced.

"Wait, if you’re sure you weren’t hallucinating, then are you sure we’re talking about a boy? Lian Vorhelm? The same handsome boy we saw at Diana Vorhelm’s birthday ceremony?" Aurelia asked with emphasis.

Seris only nodded.

Yes.

The two of them only stared at her for a few seconds.

"Seris... he’s completely alive."

The young Pendragon did not even blink, as if the sentence had reached her brain, but her mind still could not process its meaning.

And Aurelia continued.

"Actually, out of all of you, he was the healthiest person who returned." she said, surprised by this fact herself.

Seris’s eyes opened a little wider.

Aurelia was now truly sure that there was something in this story that she did not know about.

"When you all came out of the rift three days ago, almost all of you were either unconscious or barely alive."

"But him? He didn’t even have a single scratch."

Seris was now completely motionless, she was absolutely sure that she remembered everything, the blade entering his heart, the blood splashing, and Black Silence’s hand only a few centimeters away from his head.

The stopped heartbeat and even the System notification.

[Death of the Vessel detected.]

She had seen all of it, all of it had been real, she was sure that Vorhelm was dead.

"But he’s in this same base right now, the base officials asked him to explain what happened in the Special Area, as far as I know, he’s with the base authorities right now." And Aurelia delivered the final shock.

Seris’s brain truly stopped working for a few seconds, she could not find any logical explanation.

She had killed Lian, not imagined that he was dead, not mistaken his pulse, and even the System had confirmed his death.

But he was alive? Healthy? Without even a single scratch?

All of Seris’s control over her expression completely disappeared, her eyes opened wide, her lips slightly parted.

"Hah?" she said in complete disbelief and only stared at Aurelia for several seconds.

One thought repeated in her mind again and again.

Lian was alive?
