"Hmph." Sylus sneered. "Unleash its full potential? What’s so great about having a Disaster Class weapon? But to brag about your clan and Summitas Valley when you need to rely on a weapon to stand before me, don’t you feel ashamed?" Saying that, Sylus raised his hand, fingers pointing toward the sky.
Dark clouds gathered in the sky.
Zzzzz!
Lightning crackled.
Meanwhile, Snow’s uncle reached her. "Snow, we need to leave."
"No, uncle. Leon is still inside. Once he brings out the pill, everyone will be after his life. I can’t let that pill fall into the wrong hands." She said firmly.
"Snow, try to understand what situation we are in. I don’t know if that boy is really capable of returning or not, but even if he somehow manages to come out alive, that achievement will be short-lived. Forget about that pill. It’s not worth losing your life for."
"No. I am not leaving. Neither am I letting that pill fall into the wrong hands, nor am I going to let Leon die." Snow said firmly.
"You...." Before Snow’s uncle could finish, Sylus’s voice rang out.
"What did you just say?"
Booooooom! An explosion followed as a devastating lightning bolt struck the young man’s sword. Nothing happened to him, but the crater caved in.
But Sylus’s focus wasn’t on that anymore. He stared at Snow. "You know that person who entered the Red Horn’s Nest?" He asked.
Snow didn’t answer, but the way her expression changed at the question gave it away.
"Hahahaha." Sylus burst into laughter. "And here I thought I had to shed blood today no matter what." He vanished from his position and appeared beside Snow. Snow’s uncle tried to react, but a brutal punch welcomed him in the chest as he was sent flying.
Sylus’s hand shot out as his fingers clutched around Snow’s neck. "Once that brat comes out, you are going to make sure he delivers the pill without a second thought," Sylus said seriously.
Earlier, he had been contemplating how to secure the pill safely. The person who dared to jump into the volcano would surely have some guts to destroy the pill if he couldn’t take it. And Sylus didn’t want to risk that. But if there were someone he could use as leverage, that problem would be totally solved. Sylus felt like Snow had served herself on a silver platter. But if only he knew that he wouldn’t be able to blackmail Leon like that. Leon had met Snow only twice or thrice.
"Leave her." Just then, the girl who had been waiting with her two companions said. "Don’t you feel ashamed treating a girl like that?"
"Shut up." Sylus sneered.
"Shut up? You animal! I have been tolerating your behavior since the beginning, but there is a limit to everything. Leave her immediately or face the consequences."
"Spare me the nonsense. You have been tolerating? You were just enjoying the show. Limit to everything? Now that you know this girl knows the boy, you too want to use her as leverage. Who the fuck are you trying to fool?"
Immediately, all eyes turned toward Snow. The young man with the sword who had just come out of the crater. The girl and her two companions. And even people watching from the shadows. Yet nobody dared to move rashly. Because the person grabbing hold of her was none other than Sylus Moure, the strongest Disaster Class hunter of the world. Even with a Disaster Class weapon, the young man failed to gain any advantage and was clearly on the losing side.
The girl looked at her two companions. "Don’t worry, senior sister. Leave it to us." Those two said and rushed toward Sylus.
Sylus didn’t even spare them a glance. Before they could even reach within ten meters of him, lightning erupted from Sylus’s body and struck them.
The young man rushed forward, brandishing his sword.
Zaaaappppp!
A majestic bolt of lightning struck the sword.
The sword still neutralized it, but the young man was sent flying by the impact.
Inside the volcano, a week had already passed since Leon had consumed the Blood Dantian Pill. The very same pill that people were fighting outside for.
As Leon swallowed one more core, a sudden burst of energy erupted from him. The gust of energy was so powerful that even the fire surrounding him was blown away for a moment before returning to the space.
[Congratulations, Host. You have absorbed enough Qi for a breakthrough.]
[You have reached the first level of the Martial Master realm.]
Leon looked at the notification in the panel. By now, the black substance had stopped pouring out. Which could mean two things. One, the amount of impurities that could be extracted had already been extracted. Two, all the impurities had been extracted.
Leon stood up from the lotus position and stretched his arms a little.
"Is there anything wrong, Master?" The demon asked as he walked closer.
"Nahh. I think I have completed forming my dantians. I can feel it. I can feel their presence. Even my meridians are fully restored. But I was getting too tired of eating monster cores one after another. I mean, how long can a person continue like that? It feels like it’s been ages since I have done anything else other than eating cores."
"Hahahaha." The demon burst into laughter. "True, Master. That’s indeed a tiring thing to do. But it was important. Look at how many cores you had to consume to complete the process of forming your dantians and meridians. Yet, you still haven’t finished condensing your Qi. That’s why, for each breakthrough, you are taking these many cores."
"Condensing Qi?" Leon repeated with a puzzled expression.
"Yes, Master. Normally, we absorb Qi but don’t focus on condensing it because we are in a hurry to reach the next level. As a result, Qi stays in a gaseous state. But if we can condense it into a liquid state, the output we will be able to exert will be multiple times stronger."
"How strong?" Leon asked in anticipation.
"Ummm, how should I put it? Suppose you are at the first level of the Martial Master realm. With your evolved dantian, you can easily defeat someone at the second level of Martial Master realm. But with three evolved dantians, you will face no trouble even if someone is at the fifth level of Martial Master realm. But..." The demon paused for a bit, letting his words settle. "If you can condense your Qi into a proper liquid state, you will be able to defeat someone even if he’s at the first level of the Martial Grandmaster realm."
Leon’s mouth hung open in shock.
The demon chuckled. That’s the reaction he had expected.
