"Princess Lilith, you are coming with us. If you don’t want your companions to get hurt, please comply." Out of all the figures that had jumped from the back of the dragon, one spoke. This person seemed to be the leader. He was carrying a long spear strapped to his back. The sleeves of his tunic couldn’t hide the bulging muscles. The aura he was radiating was no less intimidating than any of the five Celestial Soul realm cultivators Princess Lilith had brought. On the contrary, it was stronger by a great margin.
"With just a few of you?" Princess Lilith sneered. "I will also give you a chance. If you don’t want to get hurt, then scram after telling me who sent you."
The person who had just spoken looked at his other companions. All nodded as if agreeing to something.
And then...
They attacked... All at once...
The leader whistled through the air, thrusting his spear forward. His target was none other than Mercer.
Mercer stood where he was, calmly. His expression looked darkened, yes. But it was not because of fear. ’Other than a few people from the palace, nobody knew we would come here. Yet we are being ambushed like this. It’s definitely Jeremiah and his father.’ He thought.
"Papa, do something. That bad uncle is coming toward you." Spaded said, still clinging to his leg.
Mercer’s one hand caressed his head while the other shot forward. A huge palm replicating his own materialized in the air and shot forward.
Booooooom!
The spearhead shattered as the impact sent the spear wielder flying.
"Wow, Papa. Do it again. Do it again." Spade said excitedly. Watching him get so excited like this, both Mercer and Lilith chuckled softly.
The others who had come were busy fighting the five Celestial Soul realm cultivators. Even the two orcs couldn’t get close to Mercer, Lilith, and Spade. Logan also arrived and looked at the dragon still hovering in the sky warily. "That thing is strong," Logan said while looking at the dragon. His face was expressionless. No fear, no tension. It was as if he was just stating a fact.
But Mercer misunderstood him. "Don’t worry. I will take care of it." He looked toward Princess Lilith. "Princess, please take care of my son while I take care of it."
Princess Lilith nodded and pulled Spade close.
Mercer looked at the dragon again.
"You can take care of it on your own?" Logan asked again.
"Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to you." Mercer said.
Mercer then slowly walked forward. His body started to morph. Horns protruded from his head, and his skin turned black. From his waist up to his toes, his body became like a horse. His head turned out like a bull. From his throat to his waist and arms, he remained human.
Logan was stunned. Seeing his expression, Lilith smiled. "Yes. Go, Papa, go." Spade said excitedly.
Inside Logan, Leon wasn’t surprised at all. He already knew what Mercer was.
Mercer raised his hand and waved downward. Instantly, a mountain-like pressure washed over the dragon. It started falling from the sky at great speed.
"Gravity magic," Logan whispered. Inside him, Leon’s heart skipped several beats. ’Damn!’ He thought. ’He is strong. He didn’t use gravity magic at all back then.’
Boooooom!
The massive creature cratered in the ground. The impact was so powerful that the whole ground shook.
The force pushed away those who were engaged in fighting. Lilith protected Spade and Logan from the impact.
The dragon looked enraged. Its tail whipped in the air dangerously as the giant creature reared its head. Its mouth opened, blue and white arcs of energy swirling together. The space distorted slightly.
"Is Papa going to be okay?" Spade asked with worry.
"Your Papa is going to be fine." Lilith consoled him. "Your Papa is the strongest. How can that beast defeat your Papa?"
"Is he..." Logan started, but before he could finish the question, Princess Lilith finished it for him.
"A divine beast? Yes." Lilith said calmly.
"How did you manage to make him listen to your words? Aren’t all of them very arrogant in nature?"
"I helped him once. From then on, he became my protector."
"So the status of the main guard is just fake?"
Princess Lilith didn’t reply and focused on the fight.
The dragon was still gathering energy as if it wanted to flatten everything and everyone with just one blow. Mercer took no action to stop it.
And then...
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
The dragon thrust its head forward. A beam of lightning shot toward Mercer. Wherever it passed by, the space distorted.
Others fighting were sent flying.
Princess Lilith brought out an artifact and activated it. Instantly, a barrier swallowed them.
Mercer stood where he was. Just before the beam of lightning could strike him, a weapon materialized in Mercer’s hand.
Its long blade curved forward like a crescent moon, tapering into a viciously sharp point. Jagged, fang-like protrusions lined the inner edge, while strange runic patterns were engraved across the dark metal.
A scythe.
Mercer waved it. Instantly, a wide arc of black energy left the scythe and struck the beam of lightning. The arc pierced the beam and continued moving forward. The cleaved beam of lightning faded behind it as the arc whistled forward.
The dragon’s reptilian eyes narrowed. It tried to dodge, but the black arc went through its throat in a swift motion.
Schlk!
The whole beam of lightning vanished. The dragon froze.
And then....
A thin line of red appeared in its throat before blood sprayed out and its head rolled back.
Thud!
The massive head of the dragon hit the ground, kicking up dust.
One slash!
In just one slash, a dragon was slain.
"Is that the fourth legendary weapon? Dark Blood?" Logan asked.
Princess Lilith nodded. "Yes."
"So your empire never had the fourth-ranked legendary weapon to begin with. You had a divine beast with you who wields the legendary weapon."
Princess Lilith looked at Logan sharply. "How did you find out?"
"Isn’t it simple? Legendary weapons are soul weapons. And without the master, no one else can wield it."
