As the monsters were closing in, everyone heard another loud explosion echoing. Mercer’s eyes snapped toward the Thunder Valley. "Damn it!" He cursed. A shockwave erupted from the Thunder Valley.

Mercer immediately stepped forward as a shield appeared in his hand. He held it tightly as a thin barrier materialized before him. It covered Princess Lilith, Spade, and others. The moment the wave struck the barrier, Mercer felt as if a meteor had struck him. The barrier trembled as he was sent skidding. The others were pushed back as well. "Verham, you bastard. You didn’t kill him just because he was trying to get the bow, did you?" He roared.

Princess Lilith’s face paled. Spade buried his face in her leg, not even daring to look toward the Thunder Valley. Lilith stared at the ruined Thunder Valley. "Is he really..." She whispered. She hadn’t known Logan for a long time. But just a few days ago, he had saved her from a sneak attack. And Logan was here to help her in the first place. She couldn’t help but feel disheartened.

Smoke curled up in the distance. No more mountains stood proudly. Bolts of lightning still rained down mercilessly, but they landed on a ruined area. And the bow, it stood amidst the ruin, still embedded in the boulder.

The colossal dragon hovered over the flattened Thunder Valley. For some reason, its eyes seemed to be narrowed. Its last attack had destroyed the whole Thunder Valley. Yet it felt like something was amiss. The dragon made no effort to take the weapon. Instead, its head turned toward Mercer and the others. Then at the horde of monsters closing in. "What The Hell Is Going On HERE?" It roared.

The next moment, its body started to shrink. The wings continued to shrink behind its back until they totally vanished. The dangerous tail followed after. The four limbs morphed into human-like hands and legs. The head also reshaped. When the monster landed on the ground, it was no longer a dragon. Instead, a handsome-looking young man stood in its place. His shoulder-length blue hair was tied at his back, leaving a few strands falling over his face. His eyes looked sharp. His blue eyes were locked on Mercer. He wore a black robe with dragon emblems on both shoulders.

Suddenly, the young man vanished from his position, leaving behind a flicker of lightning. The next instant, he was standing before Mercer.

"Mercer, I didn’t think you would stoop to this low. A divine beast following around a human like a servant! Don’t you have any shame?"

"Talking about shame? Verham, how could you be this petty, killing a human just because he was trying to take the bow? It’s not like you can wield it. And the weapon is kept in the open so that its rightful future owner can claim it in the first place."

"I am not being petty. I am its guardian and supposed to test the limits of someone who wishes to wield the bow. If the person is arrogant even after being weak, who can they blame?"

Mercer strode toward the young man and grabbed his robe angrily. "You could have just defeated him and let him go. This was supposed to be a test. Not a death match."

The young man didn’t get angry. He pried Mercer’s hand off of him. "You should be more worried about what’s about to happen. I don’t think he’s coming here to talk about the weather." His eyes darted toward the golden ape in the distance.

The dragons, the orcs, all were already close. At best, six hundred meters away now.

Mercer’s expression also became serious at that. He looked toward the Thunder Valley once more. ’Forgive me, boy.’ He sighed dejectedly. Then he focused on the incoming monsters. They were closing in very fast.

The ground started to rumble. Faces of people above the dragons could already be seen.

Lilith’s face filled with disgust at that. Because the person leading the army was none other than the Prince of the Navana Empire, who wanted to marry her even though she didn’t like him.

100 meters.

50 meters.

The dragons stopped flying forward. The swarm of orcs also stopped. A few people jumped from the back of a dragon.

The golden ape, along with a few monsters, walked forward.

"Hahaha." The young man in a blue royal coat laughed heartily. "Lilith, long time no see. How have you been?"

Princess Lilith’s brows furrowed. "Are we very close? Who gave you the right to address me like that?"

"Awwww. You look so cute when you’re angry like that."

"Shut up." Lilith spat.

The young man didn’t get angry. Instead, the curve on his lips only widened more. "You are coming with me today, Lilith. And don’t even think about denying it. Look around you before you try to resist."

"Even if you had brought the whole heaven, my answer would still be the same, Merrick. Scram."

"Hahahahahahah." Merrick burst into laughter. "Let’s see how long you can remain like that." He then looked toward the golden ape. He walked toward the giant monster and bowed in respect.

"Mr. Mighty Kamalon. Please help me take care of that Bucentaur. And as promised, we will provide a transportation gate and required resources for its regular functioning."

"You better remember your words." The golden ape’s hoarse voice echoed. The monster slowly walked toward Mercer but suddenly stopped. Its eyes fell on the young man with blue hair. "Verham? Are you here to help Mercer?"

"Why would I? But don’t you think you are being too shameless? Working for humans just for a transportation gate? What are you? A slave?"

"Mind your tongue, Verham. Or I won’t mind snuffing out your ticklish lightning in your body."

"Hahahahah." The young man burst into laughter. "You didn’t just lose your shame, you even lost your brain, Kamalon. You think you have what it takes to defeat me?"

"Bold words for a divine beast who couldn’t even wield his ancestral weapon. What? Still guarding that place so that someone will come someday to beat the lightning out of you and take away the weapon?"

The temperature instantly dropped. The ground started rumbling.

"Don’t interfere in my business, Verham." The golden ape said, and turned toward Mercer. "I have some old scores to settle."
