While Logan continued to adapt and climb the mountain, a huge conspiracy was going on. Thousands of orcs, hundreds of dragons, along with humans on their backs, were closing in on the Thunder Valley.
"Congratulations, Your Highness." A middle-aged man spoke to a young man who stood proudly atop a flying dragon. He was wearing an royal-blue tailcoat embroidered with intricate golden patterns. There was a fringed epaulet on one shoulder, while an embroidered cape swept from the other. On his waist, he was carrying a sword. "Today, Princess Lilith will have no chance but to accept your proposal. And that fourth-ranked legendary weapon... It’s as good as ours." He grinned shamelessly.
"Hahahahah. You speak good words, Matt. If we can really succeed in today’s mission, I will reward you greatly."
"I don’t lack rewards, Your Highness. The empire’s prosperity is my prosperity." He said, his grin widening. Though he said that, his face betrayed his true desires.
"Are all of them ready?" The young man asked.
"Yes, Your Highness. The moment we send the signal, our army, combined with the dragon race and orc race, will attack the Flame Empire."
"Good. How long before he arrives at the Thunder Valley?"
"Considering his current speed, it will take six more days."
"Can you request him to make it in four?"
"Certainly, Your Highness."
Meanwhile, Logan continued to advance toward the central mountain in the Thunder Valley. Every now and then, he would have to sit in the lotus position to adapt to the devastating lightning. Because the closer he got, the more rampant the lightning was becoming. Hours passed. Then days. On the fourth day, Logan was standing before a boulder. Lightning still rained down mercilessly. But it didn’t damage his body anymore. Or more precisely, it couldn’t. Logan focused on what stood before him.
Into the surface of the boulder, a bow was embedded. It was long and slender, its body a mixture of rampant white and blue, as if lightning were crackling through it, with elegant limbs that curved outward before tapering to sharp, hooked tips. Intricate patterns ran across its surface, resembling a dragon. There was a narrow grip at the center.
Logan slowly walked toward it. Lightning rained down one after another more relentlessly, as if they didn’t want Logan to advance. The dark clouds didn’t want anyone close to the bow. Even from inside, Leon could feel the power of the bow. It wasn’t suffocating and eerie like the power of the Demon Sword. It wasn’t cold like the Frost Monarch’s blade. It wasn’t fiery and vibrant like Raging Inferno’s wings. It was calm. Smooth. But beneath the surface, something impatient was waiting to be unleashed.
Logan was only ten meters away from the bow now.
Eight meters.
Four.
And finally, he was standing before the boulder and the bow embedded in it. The Thunder Ghost, the third-ranked weapon, now stood only inches away from Logan.
But just as he raised his hand to touch the bow, thunder roared in the sky. This time it was nothing like before. The roar was so loud and violent that the whole mountain region shook. Logan felt his ears go deaf as he clutched them tightly.
A colossal being emerged from behind the dark clouds. Its enormous body was covered in deep-blue scales, while two massive wings spread across the sky, their membranes streaked with lightning-like veins. Long, curved horns swept backward from its head, and rows of sharp spikes ran from its neck down its spine. It had four muscular limbs with vicious claws, while a massive tail twisted through the clouds behind it. Its lightning-blue eyes locked down on Logan.
A dragon.
Before Logan could even react, the dragon flapped its wings. A lightning bolt shot toward Logan and struck him.
The lightning bolt didn’t damage his flesh, but the impact was so devastating that several of his bones cracked. The ground beneath his feet shattered as his body was buried.
The dragon flapped its wings once more. A few more bolts of lightning struck Logan.
Booooom! An explosion occurred as half of the mountain was destroyed in the blink of an eye. Logan’s body lay buried beneath chunks of stone.
"FOOLISH HUMAN. YOU DARE TO COVET MY BOW. SHOULD I KILL YOU OR DESTROY THIS WHOLE HEAVEN?"
The dragon’s thunderous voice echoed through the horizon. Everyone in Mercer’s group cowered in fear, their body trembling uncontrollably. Except Mercer. He stared toward the Thunder Valley. "He actually did it. He reached the location where the Thunder Ghost is. But reaching there and acquiring it are not the same thing. Not when that arrogant muscle head is guarding it himself." He whispered.
Logan slowly pushed aside the rubble and forced himself to stand up. "Proud, aren’t you?" He looked the dragon in the eyes and spoke without the slightest hint of fear. "But if that was the best you could do, then I am sorry that I am about to beat the shit out of you."
The dragon froze. For a moment it couldn’t believe what it just heard. A mere human talking back to it. And not just talking back. He was claiming to beat the shit out of it.
The dragon’s eyes twitched as it reared its head. Lightning swirled inside its mouth.
In the distance, Mercer’s expression sank. "What the hell is he doing? He will destroy this whole place like this." He said hurriedly and was about to shoot forward when his shadow vanished. Something in the sky covered the sun. His head snapped back. And after seeing what was happening, his expression darkened.
Hundreds of dragons hovered in the sky. At least a thousand people were on their backs. The ground rumbled. Mercer looked toward another direction on the ground.
Smoke rose on the horizon as a horde was slowly getting clearer. When the horde got closer, Mercer could finally see it. Thousands of orcs. But that wasn’t the problem.
The problem was, among the horde of orcs, there was a distinct figure. An ape. Tall like a mountain. Its fur golden. And in its arms, a pair of gauntlets.
Reaper’s Fist.
The sixth-rank weapon in the Legendary weapon list.
