Princess Lilith was shocked beyond words. "You knew about the legendary weapons?"

"I knew how they work."

"How? Just knowing about their existence is valuable knowledge. But how they work, that’s totally a different thing. Other than people who have actually tried using a legendary weapon, nobody knows about it. And that’s what we were counting on mostly. Even if we give away the Thunder Ghost to the Navana empire, it’s not certain that someone actually will be able to use it. But how do you know that only a master chosen by the weapon can wield it?"

Logan didn’t reply.

Just as princess Lilith was about to say something else, she heard a growling sound from behind her. She turned instinctively.

An orc monster had penetrated through the barrier and was about to strike her. The weapon in its hand whistled through the air, the sharp edge of an axe ready to tear into her skin.

But just then...

Something whistled through the air. Something invisible.

Clang!

That something clashed against the axe, sending it flying.

Whoooosh!

Schlk!

Another whistling sound echoed before a large hole appeared in that orc’s forehead.

Thud!

The orc remained frozen for a second before collapsing onto the ground.

Princess Lilith slowly turned around only to see a pair of daggers hovering in the air beside Logan. They exuded a low hum. Their crimson hilts resembled the flapping wings of a Phoenix. The blades were crimson with runic lines embedded on them.

"Raging Inferno’s Wings." She whispered in disbelief. "Y-you! You have a legendary weapon?" She finally uttered those words with difficulty.

"Wow, uncle." Spade spoke with excitement. "You are cool like Papa, too."

Logan didn’t answer and only smiled faintly. He looked ahead, toward the battle.

Mercer had already defeated the dragon. The strongest one among the human knights was also killed by him. The others and the remaining orc couldn’t win against the five Celestial Soul realm cultivators either.

When only one remained, he used a transportation crystal to flee the area.

Mercer returned to Princess Lilith and the others. "Are all of you okay?" He asked.

Princess Lilith nodded slowly while stealing a glance at Logan. Others hadn’t noticed him using the daggers. Only Princess Lilith and Spade had. Spade didn’t understand much to tell about it to others. Lilith didn’t know what to do at the moment.

"All of you should move to safety. I will go to the Thunder Valley now." Logan said.

"Best of luck." Mercer didn’t notice anything strange and wished him luck.

Logan nodded and started heading toward the Thunder Valley.

Mercer finally noticed something was strange and asked Princess Lilith what was going on.

....

Logan soon arrived near the mountain region. He hadn’t even put his foot on the Thunder Valley, yet the roar of thunder shook his heart. He couldn’t help but look above.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lightning streaked across the sky in a zigzag pattern followed by a thunderous roar. A bolt descended like judgement and struck one of the mountains.

Booooooooooom!

An explosion occurred so violently that the sheer shockwave almost sent Logan flying.

Just ten more steps and the Thunder Valley would start.

Logan was about to take a step when he noticed a butterfly sitting on his shoulder. He reached with his hand to touch it but the butterfly popped into fragments of lights, washing over him. Instantly, he felt like an invisible barrier just surrounded him. He heard a voice then...

"Best of luck uncle." Logan looked back instantly. In the distance, Mercer and Princess Lilith were talking to each other while Spade was holding one of Mercer’s fingers and looking at Logan intently.

Logan couldn’t help smiling as warmth bubbled inside him. He raised his thumb.

Spade smiled, noticing the gesture.

Logan looked ahead and started walking without hesitation. The moment he took the first step inside the Thunder Valley, thunder roared in the sky as if it was enraged by something. Instantly bolts of lightning stormed toward Logan.

The commotion instantly attracted everyone’s attention in the distance. They all looked at Logan. No one had the nerve to talk anymore. Not princess Lilith, not even Mercer.

They all were staring ahead, waiting to see what would happen next. Could Logan really do it? Something no one could achieve until now? Or would he perish like others as well.

Under everyone’s gaze, lightning bolts struck Logan. His body was pushed back a little, white bones emerging from beneath the flesh. The surrounding skin also charred.

Everyone could see smoke curling up from Logan’s body. But then they saw it. They saw Logan again advancing ahead.

Zzzzzzzzz!

Zzzzzzzzz!

Zzzzzzzzzz!

They all watched with horrified eyes as lightning bolts struck Logan one after another. Yet Logan moved forward. What they failed to see was that Logan’s decayed flesh was actually regenerating. And the speed was so fast that it looked totally impossible.

The barrier produced by the butterfly had shattered under the impact of the first bolt but Logan still felt gratitude.

He slowly took one step after another.

Lightning bolts rained down on him one after another.

When he reached the foot of a mountain, the lightning bolts had grown so devastating that Logan was forced to stop there.

He sat in a lotus position there.

Everyone in the distance looked puzzled. They could still follow Logan’s every movement. They wondered if Logan was badly hurt and would turn around any moment now.

Seconds passed. Then minutes. But Logan didn’t stand up. He didn’t turn around. He sat there calmly, letting the thunder bolts destroy his body.

Finally after one hour, Logan stood up again. He started climbing the mountain and vanished from everyone’s sight.

After climbing the mountain for one hour, Logan was again forced to sit in a lotus position and adapt to the destruction.

But no matter how deadly the situation he was in, he didn’t look like he had any intention to stop before obtaining the weapon.

After another two hours, Logan opened his eyes again. And then he resumed being tortured.

Meanwhile Leon was watching everything unfold. ’He’s achieving lightning resistance. Good. I can’t wait to see what this third ranked weapon is capable of.’
