"W-wait! What?????" The giant ape’s shocked voice echoed.
Logan’s lips curved into a smile. "Here. Let’s see if you can defend against your own attack."
Logan thrust the sword forward.
Zzzzzzzzzzz!
The space distorted.
Crack!
The ground shattered.
Logan’s hair whipped back due to the force.
The same energy ball materialized before his sword again. The size kept getting bigger. It grew so big that Logan looked like an ant behind the energy ball.
And then...
Whooooooooosh!
The energy ball shot toward Kamalon. The space was torn apart, surrounding the energy ball. A strong gust of air erupted outward.
The golden ape instantly shifted from its place to avoid the attack, but Logan moved his sword a little. Instantly, the energy ball’s trajectory also changed and slammed into the giant beast.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
A loud explosion erupted. It was so loud that everyone felt their ears weren’t functioning anymore.
The ground shattered. Dust and debris erupted like a calamity.
Mercer and others tried to run and create distance, but a shockwave struck them, sending them whistling through the air.
Verham tried to hold his ground. But even after using all his force, he was still pushed back, his legs digging trenches in the ground.
Time passed. Except for the howling sound of the air and the clattering sound of stones and debris hitting the ground, nothing could be heard.
Slowly the dust settled. What lay ahead was a sight to behold.
A crater. Its radius unknown. It was so big that it seemed like a dried ocean, its other side being out of sight.
And in the middle of it, the golden ape lay sprawled.
Logan slowly walked toward the edge of the crater and looked down. His gaze locked on the golden ape. In many parts of his body, golden fur was ripped away. Bloody flesh was exposed to the air.
"Is that all? I thought you had some punches in you."
"Blarrghhh!" Kamalon coughed up a mouthful of blood in rage. It slowly brought out a pill and swallowed it.
Logan didn’t take any action to stop it. Instead, he waited.
After swallowing the pill, the ape’s injuries healed. He stood up and looked toward Verham. "Verham, I didn’t want to destroy this place. But I have no other choice." Saying that, he looked toward Logan again. "You are strong. I will give you that. You even managed to tame the Demon Sword somehow. But now, I shall pass my judgment upon you."
"I thought your specialty was earth magic. When did it become bite-less barking? If you can beat me, do it already. Stop acting cool."
Crrrk! Kamalon’s jaw tightened. He could barely hold his temper. "Good. Very good. Let me show you what ignorance can cost." Saying that, Kamalon raised both his hands in the air.
A tiny earth-colored dot appeared in the sky. Then suddenly, a suction force erupted. Chunks of land tore themselves from the ground and shot toward the tiny dot in the sky.
"Damn it!" Mercer cursed. "He is about to destroy the whole heaven. Run." Mercer shouted. With that, he took Spade and started distancing himself from the golden ape. Lilith and others also followed. "But what about him? He will die too." Lilith couldn’t help but ask.
"If he can’t stop Kamalon, none of us will live past the day to see tomorrow’s sun rise. Faster." He roared and increased his speed.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the tiny dot continued to grow bigger as chunks of earth continued to tear apart and fly toward the dot.
Logan didn’t move. Verham didn’t leave either. His eyes were narrowed as he looked at Logan. "What is he doing? He can easily defeat him. Yet, he deliberately let him take the pill. And even now, he is allowing Kamalon to finish his spell before he can attack." He fell into deep thought. Then suddenly, something clicked in his mind. "Wait, did he insult me back then willingly just so I would unleash my strongest attack? And now... He is doing the same thing now."
The cluster of earth grew bigger and bigger, and soon, it was so enormous that even the earlier energy felt pale in comparison. It felt as if another planet had suddenly popped up in the seventh heaven.
Earth chunks finally stopped flying above. This time, a thin line appeared horizontally in the planet-like boulder, hovering in the sky. The line grew deeper as a maw opened with rugged spike-like teeth.
Kamalon waved his hand. The boulder shot toward Logan and swallowed him in the blink of an eye. Logan didn’t even resist.
"Nooooooooo," Lilith screamed in the distance. Spade’s face looked horrified beyond words. Mercer was too stunned to even talk. Just when they thought the most brutal scene had already happened, they were proven wrong.
The boulder opened its mouth and closed again as if it was munching something.
Squelch!
Blood sprayed.
Munch!
Again.
Squelch!
Munch! Munch! Munch!
The boulder was actually munching Logan like food. But no scream of agony escaped Logan’s mouth. Either he was already dead. Or it was something else entirely.
The boulder continued to munch without stopping.
Kamalon burst into laughter. "Serves you right, you pathetic human. Now act arrogant if you can. So what if you have the Demon Sword? Filth will always remain filth." The golden ape looked overjoyed.
In the distance, Lilith dropped to her knees. "He..." Her voice trembled. "He’s dead."
Tears rolled down Spade’s face as well.
Mercer had a hollow, unreadable look on his face.
But Verham? The more time passed, the more his eyes narrowed.
As time passed, Kamalon also noticed that something was wrong. By now, the boulder should have been done.
Yet it was still continuously munching. Suddenly, the boulder stopped. It was about to close its mouth but halted as if the magic controlling it had ceased.
Then!
Boooooooooooooooooooooooo!
The boulder blasted with an ear-piercing bang.
Kamalon covered his eyes due to the force and dust erupting outward. Everyone did the same.
After some time, when the dust settled and everyone looked ahead, all froze.
Mercer, Lilith, Spade, the five knights, Verham, and even Kamalon.
Logan was hovering in mid-air. His clothes were in tatters, barely covering anything. Blood covered his whole body. But he was there, hovering in the air.
Still alive.
