"Let’s stay! Given the strength of the Neon Star Alliance, defending against a Dark Gate shouldn’t be a problem." Veyra, the unofficial leader of these scattered cosmic alliances, declared.
Thinking of their development over the past year, it seemed a dark gate was indeed not a problem. Furthermore, the Neon Defense Modules they had built were not just for show. If all of them were used for defense, they wouldn’t be in any real danger.
Calming down, they began responding to the Neon Star Alliance’s deployment orders. From positioning battleships to reinforcing various defensive stations, everyone was stretched taut like a bow.

Meanwhile, at the Neon Star Alliance Territory, the scene was different. Instead of fear and apprehension, everyone was filled with anticipation. They knew their supreme leader had already considered everything before the fight. What they needed to do now was earn more contributions and accumulate credits.
With the opening of the dark gate, they estimated their lives would enter the fast track toward growth, quickly catching up to those established top-level and even major-level teams.
Taking their stations, everyone looked ahead as if seeing a bright future.

A week later, Nash arrived at the dark gate built by the Chronos Alliance scientists.
As the name suggested, the dark gate was a giant metal gate embedded into the void, connecting their universe plane to the dark plane. Although it was currently closed, just being near the gate gave everyone an unsettling feeling.
"Nash, you’re here. Are you ready to open the dark gate?" Oryn, the lead scientist from the Chronos Alliance, asked. "This is the key. I’m sure you know what to do with the rest."
Taking the key in his hands, Nash could feel the immensity and weight of the universe within it. The key was shaped like a sphere; despite its small size, it contained the power and might of origin itself.
Mobilizing his spirit, blood, and power, he called to the Void Administrator in his mind to bind the key.

Turning toward his fleet, Nash gave everyone the signal to be ready. Opening the dark gate was like opening the floodgates of the void. Falling back onto their battleships, they watched from outside worriedly.
Flying closer to the dark gate, Nash slotted the sphere key into the center. As he did, the runes covering the gate lit up as a massive amount of energy was extracted to power it. Feeling the sucking force of the gate like a vortex, Nash quickly boarded his battleship and flew out.
As the void rumbled, everyone scurried away, escaping for their lives.
BOOOM!!!
As the gate cracked open, the free-flowing dark energy in space seemed to find its outlet and surge toward the gate. Slowly, from a stream to a torrent, as the gate fully opened, every trace of dark energy and every dark beast uncontrollably flooded inside.
The dark gate’s job was to siphon all dark energy and dark beasts into the dark plane, purifying the universe plane of these corruptive and destructive forces.
Witnessing this scene, everyone couldn’t help but grow nervous. While it purified the universe plane, it also increased the intensity of danger in the area.
The dark gate wasn’t merely siphoning malignant tumors from their domain area, but from the entire wild void area they were in. This meant that instead of lessening the concentration of dark beasts and dark energy, it grew higher and higher!
"Activate the Neon Defense System! Don’t worry about energy consumption!" Nash ordered through the intercom.
With the floodgates opened, dark beasts came from all directions. What they had to do now was guide them like a ship, keeping them neatly filed in line, so as not to cause uncontrollable destruction.
At his order, all 50,000 Neon Defense Modules activated and began systematically trimming away the dark beasts that strayed off course. The battleships in formation also acted, doing more precise work and killing the stragglers that slipped past the first salvo. Finally, the cosmic elites began dealing with the dark beasts that spontaneously spawned within their territory, keeping everyone safe.
With the concentration of dark energy this high, dark beasts could spontaneously condense anywhere, anytime. Fortunately, with tens of billions of dark purification devices deployed, the threat was not too severe. Still, despite this, the dark beasts that materialized in space near planets caused everyone a headache.
One moment, there might be a tier 6 dark beast that suddenly appeared on their back. Another moment, while they were eating, a mass of dark beasts might materialize on their plate. Facing these chaotic appearances of dark beasts, they could only do their best to purge them away.
These problems would only improve once they guided the flow of dark beasts in an orderly manner, lessening the influence of dark energy.

On the Void Pulse, Nash was hunting tier 8 dark beasts with the others. Although the Neon Defense Module could handle these higher-tier dark beasts, it wasn’t sufficient on its own. Constantly, before they could kill one, another two would appear. To keep up, they could only personally step in to eliminate them.
"This is the influence of the dark gate..." Nash felt a swell of emotion. Yet despite the danger and current chaos, a smile still appeared on his lips.
At the center of the Void Pulse was a solid sphere, slowly growing bigger and bigger, as a flood of merit continued to pour into it. This was the Merit Source Crystal Core, the amalgamation and solidification of merits. Even a tiny speck of dust was composed of trillions of merits. One could only imagine how vast the merits they’d accumulated to form a sphere over a hundred meters in diameter!
"Let the storm grow stronger." Nash let out a chuckle.
The power of merits was almost omnipotent, perhaps even more so than the power of will. However, to perform miraculous feats, the consumption was simply too enormous. Yet with the dark gate absorbing every dark beast, merits were flooding toward them like a never-ending spring.
For every dark beast the dark gate absorbed, the Neon Star Alliance bound to it would receive the corresponding merits. Using this pool of crystallized merit, Nash was confident he could advance to the tier 6 realm with a perfect foundation in less than a year!
"Not yet, we still have to settle this chaos first..." Nash thought, biding his time.
