I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 242 - 237: O Great Saint, Please Awaken

"Bind!" Lin Sha cried out. The Hong Ling in her hand, as if imbued with Spiritual Wisdom, expertly wrapped around the limbs of the Silver-Threaded Black-backed Demon Wolf Zombie.

As it struggled violently, she grimaced and slapped a Tier Three Middle Grade Evil-Slaying Thunder Talisman onto it.

Golden lightning bolts as thick as a child’s arm struck it repeatedly. By the time the Talisman’s power was spent, the Wolf King Zombie was clearly severely wounded, most of its fur blasted away.

But it was just a zombie. It felt no pain and knew no fear.

The creature merely stretched its back. Suddenly, dozens of menacingly sharp white bones shot out from all over its body. The bones rapidly extended and bent, forming a cage that enveloped Lin Sha, and then quickly tightened.

If those sharp bone spikes were to close in, even a Core Formation Master would likely be torn to shreds.

Lin Sha hurriedly took the Silver Bracelet from her wrist and threw it out.

The Silver Bracelet grew in size as it flew, expanding to the size of a washbasin before smashing violently against the bone cage.

"CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!" Following a series of sharp sounds, a few of the bone spikes were shattered, but new ones quickly grew back from the broken ends.

Just as she was about to be impaled and turned into a bloody mess, Lin Sha, frantic and beaded with sweat, saw a sword fly in from the side.

The sword merely circled the bone cage once, and all the spikes, like clipped fingernails, were neatly severed and fell away.

Lin Sha seized the opportunity to leap out. Without even pausing to offer thanks, she focused all her power on her Hong Ling, once again tightly binding the Wolf King Zombie, which had been on the verge of breaking free.

The sword flashed again. The Wolf King Zombie’s head fell to the ground, though its body remained standing.

The Flying Sword carved an arc and dove back into the wolf’s neck. With two muffled sounds, SHINK, SHINK, the sword flew out again, not a single drop of blood on its blade.

Only then did the Wolf King Zombie stop struggling. The Hong Ling tightened, twisting its body into knots.

Lin Sha retrieved her Treasure and glanced at Fang Hua, who now stood with her sword sheathed. "Thank you, Master Fang Hua."

Fang Hua couldn’t help but smile wryly. "Master Qingqiu, why were you so haughty before and so respectful now?"

Lin Sha said coolly, "Before you reached Core Formation, you were nothing more than a pretty little handmaiden in my eyes, harboring ambitions you shouldn’t have. Naturally, I wouldn’t be pleasant to you. Now that you’ve formed your Core, you are one of my peers. That’s simply the way of the world."

Fang Hua couldn’t resist asking, "What about him, then? When he hadn’t reached Core Formation, why did Master Qingqiu treat him differently?"

Lin Sha shook her head. "There is no need to ask."

After a moment of silence, Fang Hua said in a low voice, "This is the first I’ve ever heard of someone from the Heavenly Emotions and Oceanic Resentments Sect falling in love with another person after their Dao Companions have died."

A flicker of something passed through Lin Sha’s eyes. She answered tangentially, "Quite a few Core Formation Masters have died this time. So many who spent one or two hundred years in bitter Cultivation, only to have it all destroyed in an instant."

"Indeed. More Core Formation Masters may have died today than in the entire last century," Fang Hua lamented with a sigh.

"Many Tier Four Demon Kings escaped this time, and I heard there were even two Tier Five Demon Emperors. Thankfully, they were suppressed by the world, preventing them from using their full power, or we would have all died today. With all this strange activity from the zombies in the Desolate Abyss, I can’t help but suspect someone is behind it all." As she spoke, Lin Sha shot a glance at Fang Hua.

Because Fang Hua usually followed Du Youqian, she knew a little inside information. However, she was not one to gossip and knew such information couldn’t be spread carelessly, so she just offered a reserved smile.

Lin Sha dug out the Wolf King Zombie’s Demon Core and tossed it to Fang Hua. "Let’s go. I’ve heard some Demon King Zombies have already reached the mortal cities and begun a massacre. We need to hurry."

Hearing this, Fang Hua felt nothing.

Unlike Lin Sha, she had grown up in the Hundred Flowers Sect. Mortals... to be honest, she didn’t understand them at all. It felt like they weren’t even the same species.

"I wonder how Fellow Daoist Yu is doing..." Fang Hua murmured.

Lin Sha stated indifferently, "Don’t worry. Even if all of us die, he’ll be perfectly fine."

Fang Hua shot her a look of displeasure.

Lin Sha couldn’t care less what Fang Hua thought of her.

To her, only Du Youqian in this world was worthy of her special attention.

Everyone else... was utterly meaningless to her.

Such was the way of one who cultivated the Supreme Purity Emotion Scripture.

「In the Desolate Abyss, within the former South Sea Blessed Land.」

Amidst the broken tiles and ruined walls, one could vaguely picture the Immortal Realm it once resembled.

The once-bustling plaza was now overgrown with wild grass.

The vast, dilapidated Blessed Land felt desolate and empty.

With the passage of time, the corpses of the ordinary lesser demons had long since weathered into dust.

The only remains that persisted were the corpses of Tier Two Demons and above.

And now, most of those Demon corpses had already been unleashed.

’That should be enough to keep those despicable humans busy for a while.’

Dressed in a white robe and skirt, looking like a Celestial Immortal who had descended to the mortal realm, Yin Ruozhen knelt before a massive, twisted, and dilapidated throne.

The throne was about five zhang high (roughly the height of a three-story building) and two zhang in both length and width. It was forged entirely from precious Tier Four and Tier Five materials, once a symbol for the South Sea Blessed Land to flaunt its wealth and power.

The Lord of the Blessed Land, Demon Emperor Feng Ning of the Feng Xi Race, loved to sit upon this throne while holding court with his subjects.

At this moment, however, the figure on the throne was not Feng Ning, but a small, easily overlooked body.

The body was furry, but much of its fur was stained with dried blood.

It appeared even smaller than Yin Ruozhen. Even the thick, broken armor it wore could not make it look large or strong.

Because its head was lowered, its face was not visible.

But from its build and other features, it was undoubtedly a monkey.

Viewed from above, one could see a Grand Array operating with the throne at its center.

Feeling the power of the deceased Demon Zombies and Human Core Formation Masters flowing endlessly into the Grand Array, Yin Ruozhen closed her eyes, a look of ecstasy on her face.

She murmured in a low voice, "O, Great Saint! Please awaken! Please lead us to conquer this land!"

The monkey rested its chin on one of its forelimbs, as if lost in thought.

A long tail swayed slowly behind it.

If anyone dared to attack it, this tail would launch the most ferocious counterattack.

But that did not mean it was awake.

It had been asleep for eight thousand years.

If nothing unexpected happened, it would continue to sleep.

"O, Great Saint, I beg you to awaken soon. The Human Race here is protected by Spiritual Treasures. My power is limited, and I cannot stand against them. I implore you to awaken quickly, lead us to destroy those two Spiritual Treasures, and turn this last sanctuary of the Human Race into a hunting ground for our Demon Race!"

Yin Ruozhen—no, Banxiu of the Cuckoo Race—carefully examined the Great Saint’s slumbering form, a faint sense of unease suddenly stirring within her.

’No, the plan should be flawless.’

’Up above in the Desolate Abyss, a river of blood must be flowing by now. This endless stream of converging power is proof.’

’Then where did things go wrong?’

Suddenly, she felt a warmth at her waist.

She quickly took a small Copper Mirror from her waist and infused it with Demon Power.

The surface of the mirror shimmered with a milky white light, and soon, Wandering Dragon’s face appeared on it.

His mouth and jaw protruded, clearly beginning to take on a demonic form, retaining only a few human features.

What truly shocked Banxiu was the aura of death about him. It was not mere exhaustion or injury, but the feeling of his Life Force being nearly depleted, of having reached his end.

"I’m dying. Long story short, the Teleportation Array has been destroyed. You have to find another passage. The one who killed me was Master You De. Avenge me. He’s very strong, and I suspect he has..."

Before he could finish, his face suddenly vanished from the Copper Mirror.

Wandering Dragon had cut off the supply of Demon Power from his end.

A shiver went down Banxiu’s spine.

’Wandering Dragon took such a massive force with him, and he still got killed?’

’Is that Master You De really so powerful?’

’If I had known, I should have killed him back when I left the Cyan Yang Sect...’

’Wandering Dragon really is a good-for-nothing. He couldn’t even capture the Teleportation Array and let it be destroyed...’

The Copper Mirror reflected Banxiu’s own face.

There was a time when she couldn’t stand the sight of this face.

But after several decades, she had slowly grown to like it, even to find it beautiful.

’Has the body I’ve occupied influenced me too deeply after all...?’

’But it doesn’t matter.’

Eight thousand years had passed. The seal had long since loosened.

’A seal of this level could never suppress the Great Saint!’

Once the Great Saint awakened and led them to slaughter their way across Momenan, she could cast aside this shell and return to her original body.

Of the vast Demon Race army from that bygone era, only they, a handful of demons, had been able to use the power of the Spring and Autumn Brush, Transforming Illusion into Truth, to live again in this age.

It had not been easy to deceive the Blood Slaughter Sword and survive secretly to the present day.

She never wanted to face that heaven-shaking, murderous sword strike again.

In order to protect the Demon Kings she had swallowed to bring them here, her own vital energy had been greatly damaged. It was uncertain if she could ever recover to the Tier Five level.

If she couldn’t find a way to the outside world, limited by this realm, she would likely only live to the lifespan of a Tier Three Demon King.

So, for both the greater cause and for herself, she absolutely had to find another passage to the outside world.

’Wandering Dragon, that good-for-nothing...’

’Well, I never expected him to accomplish much anyway. All I gave him was the inferior bloodline of the Yanting lizard clan. He was just a spare piece on the board; it doesn’t matter that he was useless.’

The most crucial thing now was to awaken the Great Saint as soon as possible.

’O, Great Saint, please awaken soon...’

Banxiu suddenly sensed something was amiss. She looked up and saw the figure on the throne slowly open its scarlet eyes.
