I Can Reincarnate Infinitely
Chapter 243 - 238: The Destroyed Teleportation ArrayDu Youqian pursued Wandering Dragon for dozens of miles before finally spotting him on a large reef, talking to someone through a copper mirror.
Without a second thought, he unleashed a streak of Sword Qi, decapitating the already completely spent Wandering Dragon. He then immediately began the Soul Search.
As a disciple of the Holy Blood Sect, the art of the Soul Search was, of course, a fundamental skill.
There were over a hundred Secret Techniques related to it, each refined and innovated upon over thousands of years.
Even though Du Youqian didn’t specialize in it and rarely had the chance to practice, he was still more than competent when the time came.
Dozens of breaths later, Du Youqian’s face turned livid. "You goddamn bastard!" he cursed.
He then casually fed Wandering Dragon’s soul to his Hundred Ghosts Banner, picked up the Copper Mirror, and tried channeling his Magical Power into it.
However, the communication Treasure seemed to be designed to activate only with Demon Power, so Du Youqian had no choice but to give up.
’The person on the other end must have been Yin Ruozhen,’ he thought.
After gathering the spoils, Du Youqian found his mood hadn’t improved. Despite the considerable haul, he felt no excitement at all.
With his business here concluded, Du Youqian piloted his Flying Boat and sped back toward the battlefield.
Three-quarters of the deserted island had already sunk beneath the waves. The scattered corpses of Demons were a testament to the battle’s ferocity.
Little Wukong sat on the corpse of a Black-backed Kui Wood Wolf Demon, making faces out of boredom.
Seeing Du Youqian’s Flying Boat descend, it happily bounded over.
"CHITTER-CHITTER!"
"I’ll give you a reward when we get back," Du Youqian said with a sigh, placing Little Wukong on his shoulder.
He owed their victory in the last battle to Little Wukong’s formidable strength.
After all, their enemies had been far from weak.
The dozens of Foundation Establishment Demons alone would have been a threat to an ordinary Core Formation Master.
And that wasn’t even counting Wandering Dragon and the other three Demon Kings watching menacingly from the sidelines.
But Du Youqian was no ordinary Core Formation Master—a fact Wandering Dragon had been well aware of.
The Little Monkey’s power, too, had surpassed his expectations.
That was why, from the very beginning, Wandering Dragon had planned to leave the other Demons as cannon fodder while he made his own escape.
But Du Youqian had targeted him first.
Back then, Du Youqian had strained to simultaneously wield both "Jinhuan" and his "Water Yu Sword." Driven by his Blood Sacrifice Sword Intent, he had moved like a thunderclap, slaying over a dozen Foundation Establishment Demons in an instant.
Then, while Wandering Dragon was still looking for an opportunity to retreat, Du Youqian had unleashed his most powerful sword strike at him.
Wandering Dragon had shattered two of his Defensive Treasures to survive. He wasn’t killed instantly, but he was mortally wounded and fled immediately.
Du Youqian hadn’t pursued him right away. Instead, he had turned and killed another dozen Foundation Establishment Demons before using a single strike of his Blood Sacrifice technique to slay the most dangerous of the three Demon Kings: the Silver-fanged Tiger King.
With its Wind and Gold Element Divine Abilities, the Silver-fanged Tiger King had been the Demon King most likely to injure Du Youqian or Little Wukong, yet it fell before Du Youqian’s all-out strike.
Unleashing those consecutive bursts of power had taken a huge toll on Du Youqian. Without resorting to the Secret Technique, the Red Blood Seven Transitions Technique, he would have been unable to fight for a short time.
So, he had left the remaining two Demon Kings to Little Wukong while he pursued Wandering Dragon, using the chase as a chance to recover his energy.
And sure enough, by the time he returned, Little Wukong had completed his task brilliantly.
All in all, the battle hadn’t been particularly perilous or difficult.
After all, Du Youqian hadn’t even begun to burn his own life force...
Processing the corpses of all these Demons took a fair bit of effort.
Tucking a few Demon Cores into his Storage Treasure Pouch, Du Youqian gazed into the distance and sighed.
’Elder Pang... he really is dead. And the Teleportation Array has been destroyed.’
One of his hopes for reaching the outside world had just gone up in smoke.
Now, his only option was to focus on finding the last Jade Scroll Fragment and use Elder Liu Hua’s abode to find another passage out.
After a moment’s hesitation, Du Youqian took Little Wukong and piloted his Flying Boat toward the Teleportation Array’s location.
According to the information Elder Shi had provided, an island lay roughly 250 miles due east of the Woniushan Mountain Range, and then another 30 miles north.
About nine miles northeast of the island, an underwater mountain range lay hidden beneath the waves.
A cultivator’s abode had been built into the mountain range, and the Teleportation Array was inside.
The abode was over a thousand feet underwater. It was nearly impossible for anyone below the Core Formation realm to dive that deep alone; the pressure would crush them into pulp.
Upon reaching the location Elder Shi described, Du Youqian extended his Divine Sense.
Though the seawater drastically reduced its range, scanning a depth of over a thousand feet was no problem for his Divine Sense.
He found the abode with little trouble.
Little Wukong wasn’t fond of water, but his adventurous spirit won out, and he followed Du Youqian down to the seabed without hesitation.
An ingenious Array at the entrance to the abode kept the water at bay.
The moment they entered, they could see the chaotic aftermath of a battle.
Thanks to several complex Arrays, the abode was well-lit and the air was fresh, but the space was now thick with the stench of blood.
As they walked, they saw the corpses of bizarrely shaped Foundation Establishment Demons.
’That Elder Pang was certainly ruthless...’
Adhering to the principle of "waste not, want not," Du Youqian collected all the corpses into his Storage Treasure Pouch.
When they came across the corpse of a monkey demon, Du Youqian made a point to glance at Little Wukong’s expression.
He saw that Little Wukong seemed curious, staring at the corpse for a long moment, but showed no signs of grieving for a fallen kinsman.
Continuing deeper and passing through several chambers, Du Youqian finally saw Elder Pang’s body.
This Elder Pang appeared to be a man in his thirties, with a rather scholarly and refined face, sporting a handsome, neatly-trimmed mustache.
In stark contrast to his well-preserved face, the rest of his body was almost completely mangled. The flesh of a Core Formation Cultivator, said to be harder than steel, had been beaten to a pulp, a testament to the ferocity of the battle.
Du Youqian observed a moment of silence for Elder Pang. After carefully storing the body to be taken back for a proper burial, he made his way into the side hall that housed the Teleportation Array.
It was an ancient-looking Teleportation Array, and just as he’d feared, it was utterly destroyed.
Seeing it with his own eyes, Du Youqian’s last sliver of hope died. He let out a low sigh.
He didn’t know who had leaked the secret of the Array’s location. According to the Soul Search, Wandering Dragon hadn’t known about it before; Yin Ruozhen had been the one to tell him.
But as for who told Yin Ruozhen? That remained a mystery.
According to Wandering Dragon’s memories, Yin Ruozhen—no, her Demon Race name was Jiu Banxiu—had ordered him to find the Teleportation Array. Her plan was to use it to restore contact with the outside world after conquering Momenan, so they could raise the Human Race Cultivators like livestock instead of slaughtering them all.
In the future, Momenan was to be turned into a hunting ground for the younger generation of the Demon Race to temper themselves.
As for Jiu Banxiu herself, she had remained behind in the ruins of the South Sea Blessed Land, deep beneath the Desolate Abyss, attempting to awaken the Great Saint Incarnation of the Demon Race.
Jiu Banxiu was extremely confident she would succeed.
Something else that stood out in Wandering Dragon’s memory was Jiu Banxiu’s power: she was a former Tier Five Demon Emperor, equivalent to a Human Race Divinity Transformation patriarch—a being at the very peak of the Human World.
Although Jiu Banxiu had paid a heavy price to escape the Cyan Yang Sect’s relics with a large group of Demon Kings, causing her power to plummet...
...her experience and instincts remained. She might even have a chance to return to her peak in the future.
This was why Wandering Dragon had agreed, after only some feigned reluctance, to become a traitor to his race when Jiu Banxiu sought him out after sneaking out of the Cyan Yang Sect relics.
In Momenan, where even Tier Four Nascent Soul cultivators were a distant legend and a Golden Core Late Stage expert could be the strongest in the land, the shock of a Tier Five Demon was simply overwhelming.
"That bastard..." The thought of how Wandering Dragon had destroyed the Teleportation Array made Du Youqian’s heart ache.
Although, according to Wandering Dragon’s memories, he hadn’t done it on purpose. The Teleportation Array had simply begun to self-destruct the moment he channeled his Demon Power into it.
Still, the blame rested squarely on Wandering Dragon’s shoulders; there was no shaking it off.
All the other evil deeds Wandering Dragon had committed in his life paled in comparison.
From Wandering Dragon’s memories, Du Youqian also learned that after noticing him buying up Jade Scroll Fragments in various Marketplaces, Wandering Dragon had secretly joined in, sending his own men to snap them up.
But, for better or for worse... his subordinates had failed to acquire the specific Jade Scroll Fragment Du Youqian was after.
’If only they had,’ he thought.
’It would have made my haul today even better.’
What a shame.
As they were leaving the abode, Little Wukong kept looking back.
Du Youqian asked, "What is it? Did you sense something?"
Little Wukong gesticulated wildly. "CHITTER-CHITTER, CHITTER-CHITTER-CHITTER!"
He felt someone was spying on them.
Du Youqian chuckled. "There are plenty of ghosts in here, I’ll give you that. But living people or living demons? Not a single one."
Little Wukong scratched its head, looking puzzled, but finally let out a soft "CHITTER," as if to say it must have been mistaken.
After Du Youqian and Little Wukong left the abode, a figure appeared in the main hall.
Had Du Youqian been there to see it, he surely would have thought he was seeing a ghost.
Because the man had the exact same face as Elder Pang.
