"Did you hear? The new leader is getting married."

"Hm? That’s impossible. He’s barely more than a kid. How can he already be getting married?"

"What do you know? That ’kid’ is a Tier Six Summoner. He’s backed by the Punishment Hall, the White Tower, and now even the Church of the World Tree itself. You think someone like that gets to live an ordinary life?"

"I know all that, but... isn’t this too sudden? Besides, where are the celebrations? If the leader of a major clan is marrying, shouldn’t the entire territory be celebrating?"

The two workers lowered their voices as several more clan members walked past them carrying crates of food toward the newly completed reception hall.

Similar conversations were taking place throughout the Algar estate. Ever since dawn, unfamiliar faces had been entering and leaving the clan grounds, each escorted personally by senior members of the household.

No official announcement had been made. No invitations had been posted publicly.

Yet somehow, news of the marriage had spread throughout the clan faster than wildfire.

No one knew exactly how. They only knew something important was happening.

Inside the estate, everything appeared perfectly ordinary.

The craftsmen continued repairing damaged walls. Children still trained in the open courtyards. Clan guards rotated through their patrols exactly as they had every other day.

Yet beneath that appearance of normalcy... an unusual tension lingered in the air.

Guests of extraordinary status continued arriving one after another.

Royal officials. Representatives of the Church. Members of several influential noble families.

Even a handful of individuals wearing the unmistakable robes of the White Tower quietly took their seats without drawing attention to themselves.

Every newcomer only fueled the rumors further.

Before long, nearly everyone inside the Algar Clan had begun quietly investigating, hoping to uncover what exactly warranted such an unusual gathering.

The truth, however... was known only by a select few.

Although the marriage would ultimately be recognized beneath the gaze of Bark himself and recorded as a public union blessed by the World Tree, the ceremony had intentionally been kept small.

Only those whose presence was politically necessary had received invitations.

The fewer witnesses... the fewer opportunities for trouble.

...

High above the reception grounds, Ethan stood atop the flat roof of the newly completed Grand Hall.

From there, nearly the entire ceremony could be seen below.

Rows of chairs stretched across the courtyard. Clan banners fluttered gently in the afternoon breeze.

Servants hurried between tables carrying food while priests quietly completed the final preparations.

Beside him, Fin suddenly elbowed Kang.

"Hehe..."

"Check out the opposition."

Suppressing a laugh, he subtly pointed toward the far corner of the reception.

Three elderly men sat stiffly together.

None of them smiled. None appeared remotely pleased to be present.

Their expressions looked as though someone had dragged them there against their will.

Which... wasn’t far from the truth.

To ensure no political disputes erupted after the ceremony, the Crown had personally ordered the three chairmen of the Magistrate Council to attend.

They had spent weeks trying to bury Ethan beneath investigations and endless petitions.

Now... they could only sit quietly beneath the blessing of the World Tree.

Not a single complaint escaped their mouths. Not one accusation.

The authority behind today’s ceremony simply exceeded theirs.

Watching the three old men silently endure the occasion was satisfying enough that even Kang allowed himself a small smile.

"They deserve it."

Fin nodded enthusiastically.

"I almost feel sorry for them."

"You’re lying."

"I know."

The two quietly laughed before turning their attention back toward the stage.

...

"Today..."

The elderly priest’s voice echoed gently throughout the courtyard.

"Under the eternal shade of the World Tree..."

"We gather to plant a seed."

"A seed not merely between husband and wives..."

"But between families. Between bloodlines. And between futures."

Every conversation immediately fell silent.

All eyes turned toward the raised platform at the center of the ceremony.

Standing there... dressed in ceremonial robes embroidered with silver leaves... was Ethan.

Beside him stood Hela and Ella.

Each wore the traditional marriage attire of her respective people.

Though both dresses had been carefully altered to incorporate the emerald colors of the Algar Clan, enough of their original culture remained that neither had lost her identity.

For a brief moment... Ethan simply looked at them.

When this marriage had first been proposed... he had accepted it purely as politics. Nothing more.

It strengthened alliances. Protected the twins. Satisfied Bark’s request.

From every practical perspective... it was the correct decision.

Yet somewhere along the way... his thoughts had changed.

His memories drifted back toward the Wilderness Fortress.

Back then...

They had survived together. Fought together. Escaped together.

Later... when everyone else doubted the Algar Clan could rise again... Hela and Ella had remained.

They helped clear the ruined estate. Built homes. Cooked for exhausted workers. Organized supplies.

Protected the younger clan members whenever danger appeared.

Brick by brick... the clan had been rebuilt.

And through every step of that journey... the twins had been beside him.

Without realizing it... they had become the closest people to him in this unfamiliar world.

Closer than comrades. Closer than simple allies.

When exactly that had happened... even Ethan couldn’t say.

He simply knew... that seeing them standing beside him today didn’t feel wrong.

It felt... natural.

"Now..."

The priest slowly raised both hands.

"Let us offer our prayers."

"May the World Tree witness this union."

"May Lord Bark bless this marriage."

"And may these three walk one path from this day forward."

The entire hall fell silent. Even the wind itself seemed to soften.

Hundreds of heads bowed together.

At the very front... representatives of the Church quietly closed their eyes.

Behind them... the royal family did the same.

Even the unwilling members of the Magistrate Council reluctantly lowered their heads beneath the authority of the ceremony.

...

Near the back of the reception hall... far from the center of attention...

An elderly woman wrapped in a plain black cloak quietly approached one of the empty seats.

Without asking permission... she casually sat beside Arian.

"You know..."

Her voice carried unmistakable amusement.

"The young get married... and suddenly we old women are pushed all the way to the back."

Arian didn’t even turn her head. She had recognized the voice long before the woman sat down.

"I thought..." she replied calmly, "...I specifically told you not to come."

A faint trace of irritation lingered beneath her otherwise composed expression.

The elderly woman merely chuckled.

"What? You honestly thought I’d miss this?"

She looked toward the stage where Ethan stood between the twins.

"After all... this marriage wouldn’t have happened without a little help from me."

Arian’s expression grew even more complicated.

She remembered every conversation. Every carefully planted suggestion.

Every subtle push that had eventually guided events toward today.

None of it had happened by accident.

The woman beside her had manipulated the situation with frightening precision.

"You’re giving yourself too much credit," Arian muttered.

"Am I?"

The older woman leaned comfortably against the chair.

"Come now. You played your part too."

"You approved every step. You encouraged the boy"

"And don’t pretend you didn’t notice their feelings long before they did."

Arian remained silent. Because she couldn’t deny it.

The older woman smiled knowingly.

"Don’t make that face. You’re hardly innocent."

Then... she turned fully toward Arian.

A warm, almost teasing smile spread across her face.

"My dear daughter."

Those two simple words revealed her identity.

The woman sitting quietly in the back row... watching the ceremony unfold with obvious satisfaction...

Was none other than Liana Dracontis herself.
