I Conquer Hell and Heaven With 666 Trillion Coins
Chapter 95: They Know Me, But How?The gate opened again.
Dean looked toward it without changing his stance. He had barely finished his first fight, yet another challenger was already walking into the arena.
This time, it was a tall, thin woman dressed in a dark blue robe, several metal rings hanging from her wrists.
She carried no visible weapon, but the faint glow around her fingers made it obvious that she was a mage.
The announcer raised his staff.
"Second match! Decanus versus Seraya!"
The crowd reacted differently this time. There were still plenty of cheers, but Dean noticed something else mixed in with them—whispers. They weren’t quiet enough to disappear beneath the screaming and shouting of the spectators. He could hear them clearly.
"That’s him." someone said.
"Decanus?" they followed.
"The one they talk about in Aether?" someone else asked.
"Is that really him?"
They couldn’t believe it.
Dean’s eyes moved toward the seats.
Some spectators watched him with ordinary curiosity, but others were different. They leaned forward in their seats, their eyes fixed on him as though they had been waiting for this exact moment.
A few were speaking excitedly among themselves, while others simply stared.
Dean wasn’t sure what to make of it.
His name shouldn’t have meant much here. Decanus was known within Aether’s outer circles, sure, and people knew of him, but this was getting strange.
No one was supposed to know him in the inner circle of this realm.
The woman across from him raised her hands.
"I’ve heard about you, Decanus." she said.
Dean’s expression remained calm. "Have you?"
"You became rather famous in Aether. The one who killed a Grand Commander of the angels." She paused, then added, "He was a traitor, you know?" she added to her words.
Dean stared at her for a moment.
"Commander."
That one fucking angel.
The one who had nearly killed him and everyone around him.
A traitor?
Dean still didn’t understand what the hell that meant. Who had the angel betrayed? Why was nobody telling him anything?
Before he could think about it any further, the bell rang.
Seraya immediately raised both hands, and several magic circles appeared around her. Lightning shot toward Dean.
He stepped aside.
Another bolt followed, then another, but Dean simply moved between them, closing the distance before she could prepare another spell. Seraya’s eyes widened as he reached her.
"Wait!" she said but of course it wasn’t going to stop him.
Dean struck her lightly in the stomach with the shaft of his spear. She collapsed immediately.
The magic circles vanished. For half a second, the entire arena fell silent.
Then the crowd exploded.
The announcer stared at the woman lying unconscious in the sand before finally raising his staff.
"What the...? Winner is Decanus!"
Dean looked down at Seraya.
That was even easier than Gorran.
He turned toward the gate, only to find another opponent already walking through it. A young man carrying two curved swords entered the arena, looking at Dean for a moment before breaking into a grin.
"So you’re Decanus." he said.
Dean sighed. He didn’t expect to continue fighting. It seemed he needed to continue fighting anytime he won.
"Apparently." Dean replied, he really was done with how much people were talking about him.
"I’ve wanted to fight you for a while." the young man against Dean said and with that the bell rang once more.
The swordsman disappeared.
Dean’s spear moved almost on instinct.
"Clang!"
One of the swords was knocked aside before the man could even complete his first attack. Dean stepped forward and struck him in the chest, sending him flying backward into the sand.
The swordsman struggled to stand, but Dean was already there. The butt of the spear struck his shoulder and sent him back down.
The announcer barely had time to raise his voice.
"Decanus advances, again!!!"
The crowd became louder.
Dean looked toward the seats again. More people were watching him now. Some looked excited, others nervous, and a few were openly whispering his name.
"Decanus."
"That’s really him."
"I heard he defeated..."
"I thought he’d be stronger."
"Look at how easily he’s winning."
Dean’s expression tightened. Something was definitely going on.
He had entered this dungeon expecting to be just another player fighting through the tournament. Instead, people were looking at him as if he were someone they had specifically come to see.
It was almost like they KNEW he would be here but it didn’t make any sense.
The dungeon system window was brought to him like almost 50 days ago. He was training all this time.
No one could knew when he would accept the invitation, right?
The next opponent entered before he could think about it for too long.
This one was a large beastman covered in brown fur, carrying a massive hammer over one shoulder. The announcer introduced him as Brakka.
Brakka grinned.
"Don’t worry, Decanus. I’ll give them a good show." he said.
Dean raised his spear. "Sure.". He didn’t even wanto to bother anymore.
The bell rang, and Brakka charged.
The hammer came down with enough force to crack the ground. Dean simply stepped to the side, letting the weapon smash into the sand.
Before Brakka could lift it again, Dean struck his wrist. The hammer slipped from his hand, and a single thrust to the chest sent the beastman flying backward.
He landed several meters away and didn’t get back up.
"Decanus wins!"
Dean blinked.
That was fast. Again. Too fucking fast. Those people Dean fought against were TOO weak.
He didn’t expected to fight against upper level angels with his level but this was still beyond weak and easy.
The fourth opponent was a woman carrying a long sword. She didn’t bother introducing herself. She simply walked into the arena, stared at Dean, and said his name.
"Decanus. It is an honour, sir."
Dean nodded. This time smiling and showing respect to his oppenent.
The bell rang.
She attacked.
Her swordsmanship was actually decent. Unlike the previous opponents, she managed to exchange several blows with Dean, forcing him to block instead of simply walking through her attacks.
Even so, the difference between them was obvious.
Dean deflected her sword, stepped inside her guard, and struck her shoulder. Her arm immediately went numb. Before she could recover, he swept her legs from beneath her and sent her crashing into the sand.
His spear stopped beside her neck.
She stared at the weapon for a moment, then sighed.
"I surrender."
The announcer didn’t even sound surprised anymore.
"Decanus advances!"
The crowd erupted once more.
At that time Dean looked at her and said "Do not be too fierce. It is a big sword you are using. Think about your movement and your path. I am using a spear, if you fought well you would win."
When she heard those words she just nodded, thanked and then left the arena.
Dean stepped back and looked around the arena. Four opponents. Four victories. None of them had forced him to use anything serious.
Yet the audience was becoming increasingly interested.
He noticed several groups sitting together in the more expensive sections of the arena.
They dressed differently from the ordinary spectators, carrying themselves like merchants, nobles, warriors, or people who were simply accustomed to being obeyed.
One could even see demons, angels and even some lowest-tier deities in the VIP sections of the viewer areas.
Almost all of them were watching him.
Not the fights.
Him.
One man was even holding a piece of paper with something written on it. Dean couldn’t read it from this distance, but he could recognize the name.
"DECANUS, I LOVE YOU!!!"
The realization finally settled in.
His reputation had travelled farther than he had expected. The name he had chosen for himself had become known throughout Aether, and apparently, this tournament had attracted people who wanted to see whether the stories about him were true.
Still, the question was there:
[HOW did they know Dean would be here, right now?]
Before Dean could think any further, the final opponent of that day entered.
The atmosphere changed immediately.
The noise died down until only scattered voices remained.
The man was enormous, wearing heavy black armor and carrying a gigantic sword over one shoulder. Unlike Gorran, there was nothing crude about him. His armor was beautifully crafted, even his tiny movements were controlled, and his eyes were sharp.
He stopped several meters away.
"I’ve been waiting for you, Decanus." he said.
Dean stared at him.
"There it is again." Dean replied.
The man frowned. "What?"
"Everyone keeps saying they’ve been waiting for me." Dean said, he literally was so annoying at this topic.
A smile appeared on the man’s face.
"Because we have." he said.
This...literally didn’t make any fucking sense to Dean.
The bell rang and he charged.
Dean met him halfway.
Their weapons collided with enough force to send a shockwave through the arena. For the first time since entering the tournament, Dean actually had to put some strength behind his spear.
He still wasn’t using Holy Power Energy nor Magic Power Energy. He did NOT think any of those people were worthy of either.
The armored man swung again.
Dean blocked.
Another swing.
Dean deflected it.
The man’s strength was impressive, and unlike the others, he actually knew how to use it.
Still, the difference between them remained too large.
Dean suddenly changed his grip, slipping his spear beneath the man’s sword before twisting his weapon sideways.
The gigantic sword was ripped from the man’s hands.
Before he could react, Dean drove the spear into his chest.
He just attacked once. The armor cracked and the man stumbled.
Dean struck again and made him drop to one knee. After that Dean placed the tip of his spear against his throat.
The entire arena went silent.
The man looked up at him, then laughed quietly.
"I understand now." the man said directly.
Dean lowered his weapon slightly.
"Understand what?" he asked curiously.
"The rumors." the man replied, his eyes were now filled with respect.
The man shook his head, smiled and said "They weren’t exaggerated, sir. Thank you for your service."
The bell rang.
"DECANUS WINS!" the announcer announced.
The arena exploded.
Thousands of people stood in the seats, cheering and shouting his name. Some looked excited, some stunned, while others simply stared at him as though they had finally confirmed something they had suspected for a long time.
"DECANUS!"
"DECANUS!"
"DECANUS!"
Dean slowly turned toward the audience.
The name echoed through the arena again and again.
Decanus.
His name...or at least, the name everyone else knew.
Dean looked across the countless faces watching him and finally understood what had felt strange since the beginning.
He hadn’t entered this tournament as an unknown player.
He had entered it as Decanus.
And apparently, Aether had been waiting for him.
Something, someone, somehow told everyone, let everyone knew that he would be here and to be honest Dean really, really wondered who the fuck that was.
