I Conquer Hell and Heaven With 666 Trillion Coins
Chapter 97: You are MINEDean had gone to the back of the arena to approach the person he’d spotted in the viewing areas, and then chose to say, "Right, I don’t know how to get there, so come and fetch me."
As soon as he’d spoken those words, a winged figure appeared beside him in an instant.
When Dean saw this person, this woman, he said, "It’s been a long time. Take me to your master."
The woman simply shook her head and merely touched Dean’s shoulder.
In an instant, Dean had vanished along with the woman.
Before him, he could make out the shifting scene.
He had, in the truest sense, seen that space once more, even if only for a moment, and managed to find himself in another area.
Almost ten metres away, he could see the woman looking at him, once again inside a vast, spa-like structure.
"The moment I saw you, I was certain you were the one who had spread my name, Lady Nemesis," Dean said suddenly.
The moment he uttered those words, Nemesis turned to him and a smile spread across her face.
"Come inside," said Nemesis gently.
Dean, no longer caring, took off his clothes and let himself sink into the spa water.
"Might I ask why you did such a thing?" Dean inquired. Naturally, he was curious as to why his name was known to everyone.
Nemesis gave a little chuckle at these words, and immediately afterwards asked, "It wasn’t entirely me who did this, you do realise that, don’t you?"
At Lady Nemesis’s words, Dean turned to her with great curiosity and asked, "What do you mean? Last time I checked, you were the only one who knew me completely, my lady."
Nemesis replied, "You’re forgetting someone. Think about it."
Dean took a few seconds to think it over. He was certain that no one knew him apart from the angels they’d fought alongside.
Still, after those few seconds, he would have found his answer.
He rolled his eyes and, taking a deep breath, said, "Ares."
"Hahahahahaha! At least she didn’t introduce you by your real name. You should be grateful, dear ’Decanus’."
At Nemesis’s sudden remark, Dean was genuinely annoyed.
This was utter nonsense.
"The combat skills you displayed when the angels you’d fought alongside intervened have reached everyone’s ears. Even though Aether is a vast place, rumours spread very quickly within the circles, Dean," Nemesis added to his own words.
That was indeed the case.
Ares had merely mentioned the name ’Decanus’, whilst those who had met Dean so far had managed to spread his name far and wide.
"What about the arena? Did they know about my future because of you?" Dean had asked.
Nemesis shook her head, then replied, "Did you know, dear Dean, that it’s very rare for a Supreme-Goddess to visit such places? When I suddenly turned up here, people naturally wondered why. I simply told them that you would appear here one day, that’s all."
"I see... But how did you know? That I’d be here, I mean," Dean asked this time.
Nemesis then stepped closer to Dean.
Dean felt a little uncomfortable; after all, the two of them were completely naked at that moment.
"I’m forbidden from observing other regions, unless, of course, there are spiritual transmissions like a painting," Nemesis had said suddenly.
Then, holding Dean’s chin with one hand, she added, "You have no idea how valuable you are to me. My eyes are ALWAYS on you. At least within the Aether."
Dean’s face had turned completely crimson.
"Please...step back a little, my lady," Dean said calmly.
Nemesis chuckled again.
The pair watched the duels in the arena for a while, and after that, it was time for Dean to leave.
He had to re-enter the arena because the number of people fighting there was dwindling rapidly.
It seemed this arena would determine the rankings based on the winners’ points.
This created a situation where elimination was not strictly possible.
In short, the arena would continue for as long as anyone could keep going.
However, this period would last for 10 days.
This meant that Dean would have to win as many times as possible over the course of those 10 days.
Dean had finally emerged from the thermal spring, dried himself off and got dressed.
Just as he was about to leave with the help of the female angel who had brought him here, he heard Nemesis’s voice one last time:
"Do not forget, my dear Dean. You are mine."
Before Dean could say a word, the angel touched his shoulder and Dean found himself at the back of the arena.
Confused, trying to make sense of what was happening and at a loss for words, he entered the inner part of the arena.
He had to get on with the duels quickly.
The next several matches began to blur together.
The moment one opponent was carried away, another gate would open and someone else would step into the arena. Dean barely had enough time to catch his breath between fights, but he didn’t seem bothered by it. If anything, the constant pace suited him.
The next challenger was a heavily armored swordsman wielding a broad greatsword. He introduced himself as Kareth and immediately rushed forward, bringing the weapon down with both hands. Dean caught the blade with his spear, redirected it into the sand, and struck Kareth across the chest hard enough to send him rolling several meters.
The swordsman tried to stand, but his legs gave out beneath him.
"And Decanus wins!"
The crowd roared.
Another gate opened.
This time, a woman entered carrying a pair of throwing knives. She didn’t bother talking and immediately threw both of them. Dean tilted his head, letting the first pass by his ear, then caught the second between two fingers before looking at her with mild confusion.
She stared at him. Dean threw the knife back. It landed in the sand beside her foot.
"I surrender."
"And Decanus wins!"
The cheering grew louder.
The next opponent was a winged man from Aether, dressed in white armor with a golden spear. Unlike most of the others, he seemed genuinely confident when he walked into the arena.
"I’ve heard enough about you, Decanus."
Dean raised an eyebrow.
"That’s nice."
"I’ll show everyone that an angel can defeat,"
Dean crossed the distance before he could finish.
One strike to the stomach.
The angel doubled over, his spear falling from his hand.
Dean caught him by the shoulder before he hit the ground and lowered him carefully onto the sand.
The arena went silent.
"And Decanus wins!"
Dean looked at the unconscious angel for a moment before stepping away.
The next challenger was a demon.
Then another beastman.
Then a human martial artist who somehow managed to land three hits on Dean before being thrown across the arena.
Then came a woman with a chain weapon, a massive man carrying a shield almost as tall as himself, and a strange creature whose body seemed to be made entirely from dark smoke.
None of them lasted long.
"And Decanus wins!"
Another bell and another opponent.
"And Decanus wins!"
Another gate and another fight.
"And Decanus wins!"
At some point, Dean stopped trying to remember their names.
The tournament had become a strange rhythm. The gate opened, someone entered, the bell rang, and a few moments later that same person was lying in the sand, unconscious or surrendering while the announcer shouted the same words.
"And Decanus wins!"
The crowd loved it.
Every victory seemed to make them louder, and every time his name was announced, more spectators joined the chanting.
"DECANUS!"
"DECANUS!"
"DECANUS!"
Dean wiped a little sweat from his forehead and looked toward the seats.
There were even more people standing now.
Some were cheering wildly, while others watched with their arms crossed, studying every movement he made. A few seemed disappointed whenever an opponent fell too quickly, as though they had actually come here hoping to see Dean struggle.
That thought made him smile slightly.
Sorry.
He turned back toward the arena.
Another gate opened.
A huge reptilian warrior stepped through, carrying a curved blade nearly as tall as Dean. The creature rolled its shoulders and stared at him.
"You’ve defeated everyone they’ve put before you."
Dean rested his spear against his shoulder.
"Apparently."
"I won’t be so easy."
Dean glanced at the blade.
"That’s what they all say."
The bell rang.
The reptilian warrior charged.
Their weapons collided once.
Dean’s spear slipped around the blade and struck his opponent’s wrist.
The weapon fell.
A second strike hit his stomach.
The reptilian warrior flew backward and crashed into the sand.
The arena erupted.
"And Decanus wins!"
Dean sighed.
"That was supposed to be harder."
The next gate opened almost immediately.
A woman in black stepped through, followed by two enormous magical beasts on chains.
Dean looked at the creatures.
Then at her.
She smiled.
"Two against one."
Dean raised an eyebrow.
"That’s allowed?"
The announcer laughed from above.
"In the Tournament of Survival, almost anything is allowed!"
Dean looked back at the beasts.
"Fine."
They charged together.
Dean moved between them, ducked beneath one set of claws, vaulted over the second creature, and struck the woman across the back with the shaft of his spear. She dropped immediately, and the two beasts stopped in confusion.
Dean knocked one unconscious with a single blow, then struck the other hard enough to send it crashing into the arena wall.
The crowd went insane.
"And Decanus wins!"
Dean looked up toward the announcer.
"Do you guys have anything harder?"
The question was met with an even louder roar.
Somewhere in the upper seats, a few spectators laughed.
Others simply stared at him.
Dean couldn’t help but notice that familiar expression again.
Expectation.
They weren’t surprised by his victories anymore.
They were waiting.
Waiting to see how far he would go.
Waiting to see who would finally stop him.
Dean tightened his grip around the spear as yet another gate began to open.
He sighed.
"Guess we’re doing another one."
The bell rang.
Dean stepped forward.
And once again, the arena erupted.
"And Decanus wins!"
