I Grow Crops with a System

Chapter 30: A Familiar Figure

Ethan wanted to use flat glass and Sun Stones to build a warm greenhouse, that way, he could grow southern crops.

As long as he had the Exchange Box, he didn’t have to worry about a lack of Sun Stones, as long as he had enough flat glass, building a greenhouse shouldn’t be difficult.

"Meow, then we can eat southern fruits whenever we want, meow~" Pearl said excitedly.

"Probably, we can’t just stay idle in the winter anyway, so I plan to look into the greenhouse during that time," Ethan said.

"In winter, you should just lie comfortably next to the heater and rest, meow."

"Lying in a warm room in the winter, eating fruits and resting, isn’t that nice too?" Ethan said with a smile.

"That makes sense, meow, then I’ll help out too, meow~"

Ethan patted Pearl’s head, then looked at Eric, Eric seemed worried about whether his family could actually produce that much flat glass.

Ethan smiled, pointed at the kiln, and said, "I’ll make more pottery."

"Ah, I’m not worried about that... Alright, my family will definitely do our best to meet your request."

Eric’s answer left Ethan satisfied.

...

The next morning, while Ethan was eating breakfast, movement came from the bushes, Zharok and a few Canine Beastmen walked out.

"Why are you guys here? I was looking for you all night," Zharok said in surprise.

"Us too, we searched for you all night, I didn’t expect to run into you here," one of the Canine Beastmen replied.

Zharok still had his usual laid-back attitude, he smiled and greeted Eric and the others, then walked up to Ethan and pointed at Eric.

"Eric’s family is famous for their glass, you should take this opportunity to trade for more of it."

"I’ve already discussed it with him," Ethan said.

"Is that so? Good." Zharok yawned.

"I ran around all day, I’m exhausted, Leon, you owe me one for this."

"Yeah, I know," Leon nodded.

"Then I’m going to get some sleep, Ethan, you can handle the trade on your own, right?"

"Yeah, no problem, go get some rest. Oh — right, before you go, let’s register this."

Ethan took out his crystal ball, Zharok pulled one from his pocket as well, the two crystal balls touched gently, completing the registration.

Zharok then left as swiftly as he had arrived.

After Zharok and the Canine Beastmen departed, Ethan and the elves went to the cursed land, the other elves were finishing up wiping out the undead.

"Are you done clearing them out?!" Leon called.

"Yes!"

An elf eliminated the last undead, walked up to Leon, and pointed behind him.

A few elves carried large bags and wooden barrels over to Ethan’s handcart and began loading them.

"That’s a lot of stuff," Ethan said.

"The Sweet Beets and Honey Sweet Potatoes you grew are of excellent quality, and the goods you brought this time are all great too... This is a little token of our appreciation, also, this barrel..."

Ethan had been eyeing that wooden barrel for a while, he had only requested spices and seasonings, but when he had moved it earlier, it felt like it contained liquid.

Leon noticed his curiosity and smiled. "This is a beverage our elf tribe often drinks, Elven Yogurt."

Ethan lifted the lid, a sweet-and-sour aroma wafted out, and he saw a golden liquid inside.

"This is... yogurt?" It smelled more like a lactic acid bacteria drink.

’Well, it’s the elven way of making it.’

Without overthinking it, he scooped a spoonful with a bowl he had brought and took a sip, cool, sweet and sour, with a unique taste.

"Meow, I want to taste it too!" Pearl clamored from the side.

"Here." Ethan poured a small bowl and handed it over.

"It tastes so weird, meow." Pearl took a few licks and lost interest, Elven Yogurt was clearly not to the cat’s taste.

’The taste isn’t bad, though, could be used for other dishes.’

"How is this yogurt made?" Ethan asked.

"Haha, it’s a secret recipe of my elf tribe, it’s made using a special fermentation technique and is very good for the body, I recommend you drink a cup every day," Leon said with a smile.

"I see, but won’t this spoil?"

"Yogurt made using our elven methods can be preserved for at least five years." Leon spoke with full confidence.

"Five years!" That shelf life was impressively long.

"That’s great, thank you for the trade this time," Ethan nodded.

"We also thank you."

After chatting for a bit longer, Leon left with the elves.

Ethan watched them go, then picked up the handles of his handcart, just like when he had come, the cart was loaded with goods and was quite heavy.

Before long, they arrived back at the shelter.

’Next up, time to continue clearing the field.’

Ethan picked up his stone hoe and was just about to head out when a familiar figure appeared at his shelter.

"Long time no see!"

It was Draugor.

"I’m doing well, what’s this?" Ethan asked, eyeing the bag in Draugor’s hand.

"I found some good stuff and brought it specifically for you!" Draugor said excitedly.

The bag contained silver seeds.

’Could it be a new crop?’ Ethan’s heart skipped a beat, he took the bag and asked,

"What is this?"

Draugor grinned. "It’s a type of tomato that grows bathed in moonlight, it contains a faint essence of the moon, some races consider it a precious treasure!"

"These are Moonlight Tomatoes!"
