"Where did you get something so precious?" Ethan asked in surprise.
"A few days ago, monsters appeared in the east, we found them when we went hunting!" Draugor said.
"There’s also a lot of wild wheat growing there, I’ve already collected some, so you can take it with you next time you visit our village!"
"You’re too kind, I’ll make some more concentrated feed for you guys next time." Ethan smiled.
"That would be wonderful!" Draugor said happily.
The concentrated feed Ethan had made last time was extremely popular in the Minotaur village.
The process wasn’t complicated, and the Minotaurs could make it themselves, but the taste never compared to Ethan’s.
Draugor had already been planning to ask him to make another batch anyway.
He looked at the field Ethan was clearing. "It must be hard work clearing a field all by yourself, isn’t it?"
"It’s alright, Pearl is helping too." Ethan pointed at Pearl, who was playing by the edge of the field.
"Haha, then let me help out too!" Draugor volunteered.
"Then I’ll make another stone hoe."
Ethan found a large bag and filled it with a few stones of the right size, using his Crafting skill, he fashioned a stone hoe and handed it over.
Draugor took the hoe and started tilling the soil, the efficiency didn’t seem to satisfy him, though, before long, he couldn’t help but shout.
"At this rate, when will we ever finish clearing it! Is there a faster way?!"
"Then let’s do this."
Ethan put down his stone hoe, picked up a few pieces of wood and stone, and activated his Crafting skill.
[Stone Plow]
[A plow made of stone, used for tilling the soil.]
[Crafting Difficulty: ★]
Because its structure was simple with nothing special about it, the result was just an ordinary tool.
He handed the stone plow to Draugor. "You pull this, and I’ll control the direction."
"This should be much faster!" Draugor said excitedly.
Following Ethan’s instructions, Draugor pulled the stone plow and began to run, with his immense strength, the plow dug deep into the dirt and turned the soil in wide swaths.
"So fast, meow!" Pearl marveled from the side.
"Moo moo moo moo!!"
Draugor let out excited roars as he ran, the field gradually took shape, after running for a while, he stopped and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Ethan looked at the field, which had already reached a decent size, and patted his shoulder in satisfaction.
"Thank you, thanks to you, I was able to clear the field this quickly."
"If you need help next time, just call me, we’re friends, after all!" Draugor said cheerfully.
"Alright, I’ll definitely call you next time I need help."
’Once I make an iron plow, I’ll be able to clear even larger fields.’
Thinking this, Ethan led Draugor back to his shelter, he brought out some Honey Sweet Potatoes and handed them over.
"Here, for you."
"Thank you!" Draugor took the Honey Sweet Potatoes, turned around, and left.
Ethan watched him go, then said to Pearl, "Let’s start planting."
"Do you know how to plant wheat, meow?" Pearl asked.
"Back on Earth, I planted wheat many times, I don’t know if Earth’s methods will work here, but we have to try to find out."
Ethan carefully observed the wheat seeds, from their appearance, there was no difference between them and the wheat seeds on Earth.
’With the Green Thumb skill, the quality shouldn’t be too bad, plus the Growth Acceleration and Soil Fortification abilities — it should be ready for harvest soon.’
"Then we’ll be able to eat bread, meow?" Pearl asked expectantly.
"Probably." Ethan smiled.
With wheat, he could grind flour, he didn’t have yeast, but he could make natural yeast from dough — and perhaps he could even get yeast from somewhere else.
He stood up, grabbing the bag of wheat seeds. "Let’s go plant them."
Sowing the seeds didn’t take much time, but Ethan didn’t rest, because there was still a lot of farm work to do.
"We also got the Moonlight Tomato seeds, need to plant those too."
He took the Moonlight Tomato seeds to a small plot of land he had cleared previously, the plan was to plant Honey Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Beets, Vitality Cabbage, and Moonlight Tomatoes here.
"There are more and more crops, meow~" Pearl marveled.
"The more the better." Ethan smiled.
"Are we eating too much vegetarian food, meow?" Pearl asked.
"Hmm... you have a point, we could try hunting and eat some meat."
Lately, all the meat Ethan ate had been gifted by other beastmen.
If he wanted a stable source of protein, he had to either hunt himself or raise livestock, but right now, he hadn’t found suitable prey, unlike monsters, wild beasts were highly alert and wouldn’t easily approach the area where he lived.
’I’ll try setting some traps later on...’
He shook his head, now wasn’t the time to think about this, there was still a lot of farm work to do.
"Alright, let’s keep working."
...
A few days passed after the wheat was sown.
The wheat grew smoothly without any issues, there were some pests and weeds, but these problems were nothing to Ethan.
"The wheat field is all taken care of..."
He finished weeding and was just about to head to the other plots when Pearl took off running, Ethan blinked in surprise and chased after it, then he saw what Pearl had found.
"The Moonlight Tomatoes bore fruit, meow~" Pearl shouted excitedly.
"Oh... that’s much faster than I expected."
On Earth, it took about two months for tomatoes to go from sowing to harvest, but the Moonlight Tomatoes bore fruit in just a few days, his occasional use of Growth Acceleration was quite effective.
Ethan picked a tomato as pristine white as the moon and examined it closely.
[Blessed Moonlight Tomato]
[A Moonlight Tomato grown using the Green Thumb skill, it is larger and more delicious than average Moonlight Tomatoes.]
[Recovers a massive amount of mana upon consumption.]
"Mhm! Tastes good!"
Although it was as white as moonlight, it tasted sweeter and more delicious than Earth’s tomatoes, sweet and sour with a lingering aftertaste, Ethan couldn’t help but eat another one before handing the rest to Pearl.
"Let’s harvest the Moonlight Tomatoes today," Ethan said.
"What can you make with Moonlight Tomatoes, meow?" Pearl asked.
"Well..." Ethan pondered.
"Hey! Are you there?!"
A familiar voice rang out, it was Zharok, carrying an armful of things, he arrived at the Moonlight Tomato field, and upon seeing the white fruits, he asked in surprise.
"Wow! Are these Moonlight Tomatoes?! When did you get these?"
"Draugor brought me the seeds a few days ago, what do you have there..." Ethan replied.
"Oh, I caught these in passing while hunting yesterday." Zharok waved the prey in his hand.
He was holding a massive chunk of meat, as well as a freshly caught chicken, this chicken was different from the ones on Earth — it had four legs.
Ethan looked at this four-legged chicken curiously. "What is this?"
"Meow! That’s a Four-Legged Chicken, meow~"
