Chapter 297: 297:Mallory.

Ravenna watched them with fascination.

"Does Alpha Three really have this many aircraft?"

"It’s the central sanctuary," Antony replied. "People come here from all over the Delta territories."

"Research."

"Research."

"Business."

"Business."

"The academy."

"Especially the academy."

Ravenna’s expression softened.

The academy.

That was where she and Silver had been going. That was where their journey was supposed to end.

For a moment, she could almost imagine him sitting beside her. He would probably be looking at everything with the same curiosity she was. Perhaps he would make some dry comment about how expensive everything looked.

She smiled, then the smile faded. Antony noticed but didn’t say anything.

The convoy eventually began moving again. It took them nearly another hour to reach the main entrance. By the time they reached the gates, Ravenna was genuinely speechless.

The gates alone were enormous.

Several reinforced sections could open independently, allowing multiple lanes of traffic to enter simultaneously. Security stations were positioned on both sides, while elevated walkways connected the various towers.

There were hundreds of personnel working around the entrance. The amount of coordination required simply to control the traffic was incredible.

Ravenna watched as vehicles were directed into different lanes.

"Contractors to the left!"

"Commercial vehicles, lane seven!"

"Private transport, continue forward!"

"Research convoy, clearance code!"

Voices echoed through the massive entrance.

Their subjugation convoy was immediately recognized. A security officer approached the first vehicle, checked its identification, and signaled for the others to follow. Their own vehicle was directed into a separate lane.

Antony rolled down the window.

"Identification."

Antony handed over the necessary documents.

The officer examined them.

"Travelling with the subjugation team?"

"Yes."

The officer glanced toward the convoy ahead.

"Keep your vehicle with them until the inner checkpoint."

Antony nodded.

"Understood."

The officer returned the documents and moved away. Ravenna looked around. There were security scanners positioned along the road, apparently checking vehicles as they passed.

She could feel the faint pressure of barrier formations in the air. It was nothing like the Delta Sanctuaries they had passed through before.

This was a genuine fortress.

Eventually, their vehicle crossed beneath the massive gate. Ravenna felt something strange when they passed through.

It was relief.

They were finally inside. But she also knew that reaching Alpha Three didn’t mean her journey was over. If anything, it was where the difficult part began.

They had to find a place to stay,needed information,needed to locate Shawn, and most importantly, she needed to find a way back to Silver.

Their convoy continued through the inner security section before eventually separating from the military traffic.

Ravenna looked at Antony.

"I need to contact Mallory."

Antony nodded.

She pulled out her communication device. Antony continued driving slowly through the traffic while Ravenna searched for Mallory’s contact.

She pressed the call button. The connection rang almost three times. Ravenna waited anxiously, then the call connected.

"Hello?"

Ravenna’s eyes immediately softened.

"Mallory."

There was a brief silence. Then the voice on the other end practically exploded with excitement.

"Ravenna?!"

Ravenna smiled.

"Yeah."

"You’re here?"

"We just entered."

"Oh my goodness!"

Mallory’s voice was so loud that Antony could hear it from the driver’s seat.

Ravenna laughed softly.

"I know."

"I thought something happened! You were supposed to arrive atleast days ago!"

"We were delayed."

Mallory became concerned.

"Are you alright?"

Ravenna hesitated. Antony glanced at her.

Ravenna didn’t answer immediately.

"Yes."

It was technically true. She was alive but she didn’t feel alright. Mallory seemed to sense the hesitation.

"Ravenna?"

"We’ll talk when we meet."

"Of course."

Ravenna looked outside.

"Where are you?"

"I’m in the eastern residential district."

"Can you give me the location?"

"Absolutely."

Mallory immediately began giving directions. Ravenna repeated them to Antony.

"Take the eastern route after the second major intersection."

Antony nodded.

"Got it."

Mallory continued.

"I found a place for us."

Ravenna smiled.

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Is it good?"

"I think you’ll like it."

"How expensive?"

There was a pause.

"Reasonable for this neighborhood."

Ravenna narrowed her eyes.

"That’s not an answer."

"It’s within the amount you gave me."

Ravenna relaxed.

"Fine."

"I arrived about a week ago, so I’ve already handled most of the basic things."

Ravenna blinked.

"A week?"

"Yes."

Ravenna smiled.

"You’ve been here for that long? I thought you’d arrive later"

"Of course I had to hurry. Someone had to prepare everything before the academy admission period became chaotic."

Ravenna’s expression softened.

"Thank you."

"You can thank me after you arrive."

"I will."

Mallory gave her the directions one final time before ending the call. Ravenna lowered her device.

Antony glanced at her.

"She sounds happy."

"She is."

"And you’re happy?"

Ravenna looked down.

"Yes."

But the answer wasn’t as convincing. Antony didn’t press. The drive toward the eastern district took much longer than Ravenna expected.

Alpha Three was simply too large.

They passed through several major roads, each filled with traffic. Towering buildings stood on either side; some were commercial complexes, and others were research facilities.

Ravenna noticed several massive buildings carrying the insignias of different organizations.

She also saw advertisements for academies, Contractor equipment, transportation companies, research institutes, and medical facilities.

Everywhere she looked, there were people. Contractors carrying weapons, students wearing academy uniforms, researchers rushing between buildings, families travelling in groups, and merchants transporting goods.

It was overwhelming.

Eventually, the scenery began changing. The towering commercial structures became less frequent and the roads became quieter.

Large residential buildings appeared, then individual houses. The eastern district was clearly one of the better neighborhoods in Alpha Three.

The roads were clean, trees lined the streets, and ghere were small parks scattered between the houses. The buildings themselves were spacious and well maintained.

Ravenna looked around.

"Mallory actually found this?"

Antony smiled.

"Your maid has taste."

"She does."

They continued deeper into the neighborhood. Eventually, Antony slowed the car.

"That should be it."

Ravenna looked ahead.

A woman stood outside one of the houses. The moment she recognized the vehicle, her face brightened.

She stepped forward.

Ravenna’s heart tightened.

"Mallory."

Antony parked.

Ravenna immediately opened the door.

Mallory rushed toward her.

"Ravenna!"

Ravenna barely had time to react before Mallory wrapped her arms around her. And for the first time since Silver disappeared, Ravenna didn’t try to hold herself together.

She broke down immediately.

Mallory’s expression changed instantly.

"Ravenna?"

Ravenna buried her face against Mallory’s shoulder.

"I’m sorry."

Mallory held her tightly.

"It’s alright."

"I’m sorry."

"You’re home."

Ravenna began crying harder.

Antony quietly stepped away, giving them the privacy they needed.

For the first time in days, Ravenna was finally with someone she trusted enough to stop pretending she was fine.
