I Married the President

Chapter 542: Can Grandpa Accept Such a Thing?

Chapter 542: Chapter 542: Can Grandpa Accept Such a Thing?

Yara Quincy looked pale and somewhat haggard.

The moment she saw Claire Sinclair, her expression darkened. But she didn’t say a word about causing the miscarriage. Instead, she looked up at her brother. "Brother, Grandpa just fell asleep."

Adrian Quincy’s eyes narrowed, his tone icy. "What are you doing here?"

"I have antral gastritis, and the doctors found a few polyps in my stomach. They need to be removed with minimally invasive surgery. Brother, don’t worry. I didn’t pull any strings to get here. I didn’t even know they’d brought me over until I woke up. I only came to check on Grandpa after I heard he was gravely ill."

After she spoke, Yara Quincy jutted her chin toward the prison guards standing watch in the hallway. "See? They’re watching my every move. I’m missing a leg. I’m not going to run away."

As she said this, she couldn’t contain her resentment. She clenched her jaw, her gaze fixed venomously on Claire Sinclair.

’It’s all this bitch’s fault!’

’If it weren’t for this damn bitch, I wouldn’t be serving ten years in prison, and I wouldn’t have lost my entire left leg!’

Claire Sinclair could feel the woman’s hatred and boldly glared right back. "What? Even at a time like this, you’re still blaming me for the loss of your leg?"

With reddened eyes, Yara Quincy didn’t dare to respond.

Claire Sinclair said coldly, "You caused me to lose my child, and I haven’t even settled that score with you yet. You brought your amputation on yourself when you hit that person. What the hell does that have to do with me?"

Yara Quincy was on the verge of cursing back at her, but with her brother present, she held her tongue.

Adrian Quincy spoke abruptly, his voice as cold as a winter wind. "You’re still completely unrepentant. Utterly hopeless. You," he gestured to the guards, "take her back to her hospital room. When she’s well enough, take her back to prison. She is forbidden from leaving her room in the meantime. That includes visiting anyone."

The prison guards froze, a sense of dread washing over them.

They had only brought Yara Quincy here to visit out of consideration for Old Master Quincy, an act that violated regulations. They never expected Young Master Quincy to be just as impartial as the rumors claimed—so much so that he wouldn’t even spare his own family.

Not daring to disobey, they quickly escorted Yara Quincy away.

Watching Yara’s retreating figure, Claire Sinclair said irritably, "Are you two really brother and sister?"

Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "I grew up in a training camp. Grandpa raised me, whereas our parents raised Yara. That’s why our personalities are so different."

"Huh?" Claire Sinclair was taken aback. ’I can’t believe he grew up in a training camp. No wonder he has such an innate air of righteousness about him!’

Adrian Quincy continued, "When I was young, I went to many places with Grandpa, including a number of remote mountain regions. After I grew up, I traveled all over the country on my own and visited many foreign cities, so I’ve seen a lot. You might think I’m cold, but it’s just that I find I have nothing to say to most people. That includes my own family. I find their way of thinking... rather dull."

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying you look down on your family?"

"I wouldn’t say I look down on them. I’m just very professional."

"What do you mean, you keep them separate? If Grandpa hadn’t been gravely ill, you wouldn’t have dragged me to the marriage registration office and forced me to marry you. That’s not professional at all!" Claire Sinclair said indignantly.

’Thinking back, I was so stupid. I didn’t have the strength to fight back at all.’

’If I’d known he’d turn out like this, I would have fought him to the bitter end.’

Adrian Quincy looked down at her face. "Grandpa still doesn’t know that you’re Quinn’s sister. I want to tell him before he’s gone."

Claire Sinclair’s heart clenched. "Will Grandpa be able to accept that?"

After all, Grandpa White-beard had always believed she *was* her all-capable older sister.
