Chapter 543: Chapter 543: They Really Do Look Alike

Adrian Quincy took her small hand, lacing their fingers together. "You’ll know once we try. Let’s go in."

"Mm." Claire Sinclair nodded, took a deep breath, and walked into the hospital room with him.

On the hospital bed, Old Master Quincy was still wearing an oxygen mask. He seemed to be sleeping lightly, for as soon as they entered, he opened his eyes. He slowly turned his head to look at the two of them, his eyes holding a deep, unreadable expression.

Adrian Quincy walked to the bedside and said respectfully, "Grandfather."

Claire Sinclair immediately followed suit. "Grandfather."

Old Master Quincy looked at his grandson, then turned to Claire Sinclair, his voice extremely hoarse. "Quinn, come a little closer. Let Grandfather get a good look at you."

Claire Sinclair nodded and took a step forward.

Old Master Quincy’s brow suddenly furrowed, his breathing growing a little unsteady. "You really do look alike."

"Are you Quinn’s sister?" Old Master Quincy asked.

Claire Sinclair bit her lip, not daring to speak. She looked up at Adrian Quincy, her eyes pleading for help.

Adrian Quincy said in a neutral tone, "Grandfather, I’m sorry. This was my idea. Quinn is gone. She died on a mission three years ago. I was afraid of aggravating your condition, so I took it upon myself to hide this from you."

Old Master Quincy shot him a cold glare and snapped, "Adrian, I wasn’t asking you."

"My apologies," Adrian Quincy said politely.

Old Master Quincy turned to Claire Sinclair. "What is your name?"

"Grandfather, my name is Claire Sinclair." Claire Sinclair barely dared to speak above a whisper. For some reason, she couldn’t shake a persistent feeling of unease.

Old Master Quincy frowned slightly. "How did you and Adrian meet?"

"It was at my sister’s funeral. I saw Mr. Quincy for the first time then, but we didn’t speak. Later, he and I registered our marriage."

Claire Sinclair glossed over the details. She didn’t dare say she had been tricked into marrying The Great Demon King Quincy, afraid it would upset his grandfather.

Old Master Quincy’s expression immediately darkened. "Then did you know that Adrian used to be your sister’s boyfriend?"

"Grandfather, it’s not like that—"

Claire Sinclair rushed to explain, but Old Master Quincy cut her off sharply. "Adrian, I told you to marry Quinn! Why did you find a look-alike to deceive me?"

Adrian Quincy said gravely, "Grandfather, I never dated Quinn."

"You... You’re still defending her, even now! Yara told me everything!" Old Master Quincy grew so agitated that his breathing became ragged again.

The monitor began to BEEP rapidly. All the color drained from Claire Sinclair’s face, and her heart felt as if it were on fire.

She could only watch as Adrian Quincy strode forward with swift agility, pressed the call button on the headboard, and began comforting his grandfather with a grave expression, urging him to calm down.

Her world was in chaos. It felt like everything was falling apart.

Soon, doctors rushed in to perform emergency treatment on Old Master Quincy, but it seemed to go poorly, and they quickly wheeled him away.

Only when the hospital room fell completely silent, leaving her all alone, did she finally snap back to her senses.

When she walked out into the hallway, she could only see Adrian Quincy following the doctors, his destination unknown.

’What if Grandfather dies before we have a chance to explain everything?’

If his grandfather objects, you’ll be forced to leave, like it or not."
