Chapter 548: Chapter 548: This Is Too Exaggerated
Claire Sinclair left without waiting for her husband to return.
Before she left, she sent him a text saying she was going to see Third Miss Tanner.
A ten-minute drive later, Claire Sinclair arrived outside a lavish, sprawling, golden villa, staring in astonishment at the glittering, palace-style mansion before her.
’This is insane!!!’
The estate was so vast you couldn’t see where it ended. It was surrounded by a golf course on one side and a massive outdoor swimming pool on the other.
’Even if this is The Cold Palace, it’s way too big!’
As Claire Sinclair took it all in, she felt that Ivy Tanner was both pitiful and lucky.
Many women would kill to live in a mansion this big, so in a material sense, Ivy Tanner was lucky. Her misfortune was that she had to live in this huge house all by herself, and possibly for the rest of her life.
With a sigh, Claire Sinclair walked to the front gate and rang the doorbell.
It seemed Ethan Kingsley had already spoken with the guards, as they let her through immediately.
Claire Sinclair got out of her car, walked to the mansion’s front door, and rang the doorbell again.
A young, refined-looking maid in a uniform answered the door. She was very polite. "Miss Sinclair, hello. Sir already informed us to expect you. Please, come in."
Claire Sinclair nodded and stepped inside.
Ivy Tanner suddenly popped out, pulling her into a delighted hug. "Sinclair! Sinclair!"
Claire Sinclair was infected by her excitement, her lips curling into a smile. "Don’t hug me so tight, I can barely breathe."
Ivy Tanner finally let go, only to grab her hand and lead her up to the second floor.
They ended up in a shockingly large, pink-themed luxury bedroom. Ivy Tanner quickly shut the door, her expression turning serious in an instant. "Did you see it? He gave this place to me. I think he’s sick in the head."
Claire Sinclair nodded in agreement. "He’s always been sick in the head. Back when I was writing novels, he tipped me several million. I have no idea what he’s trying to do."
Ivy Tanner frowned. "He and Corinne Linden brought me here together that day. I saw the envy in Corinne Linden’s eyes. She even seemed reluctant for me to have such a nice place, but she didn’t say anything in the end. I guess she didn’t want to make Ethan Kingsley unhappy."
Claire Sinclair asked quizzically, "Corinne Linden has a great reputation. Why would she get involved with a playboy like him?"
Ivy Tanner said with a hint of sarcasm, "You probably don’t know, but Ethan Kingsley has a certain charm. No matter how bad his character is, he can still attract women. Why else do you think his old girlfriends threw themselves at him one after another? Some of them weren’t just in it for his money."
"Anyway, I would never fall for a man like him in this lifetime. Our values are completely incompatible." She paused, suddenly realizing what she’d said, and quickly changed her tune. "Of course, I’m not saying that falling for him is a bad thing. Everyone has their own worth. And when it comes to business, Ethan Kingsley is truly second to none."
Ivy Tanner smiled. "Don’t be nervous. I had a crush on him when I was a kid, but I don’t like him anymore."
Claire Sinclair studied her face, but she couldn’t tell if Ivy was being truthful or not.
’Oh well,’ she thought. ’Other people’s relationships are none of my business. The only thing I can do is try to secure a better deal for this poor girl.’
Afraid she had made things awkward, Ivy changed the subject. "I think Corinne Linden is bothered by it, though."
"Bothered by what?" Claire Sinclair asked.
"She’s bothered that Ethan Kingsley is good to me. Plus, yesterday before she left, she was being all coy with him, saying that after they get married, she wants to live in a house even bigger than this one."
