Chapter 559: Chapter 559: Jackals or Wild Dogs
Claire Sinclair waited patiently for a moment before Theo Rhodes came running back, excitedly holding two bottles of sunscreen. "Professor Sinclair, I’m back!"
"Let’s go. To the hotel first." Claire Sinclair turned, walked to the side of the road, and was the first to get into the car Landon Winston was driving.
Theo Rhodes got into the car, a look of amazement on his face. "Professor Sinclair, how come your bodyguard has a car wherever you go?"
Claire Sinclair said nonchalantly, "The people from Quincy Manor are very methodical. It saves a lot of time and also reduces risk."
"That makes a lot of sense. I should make a plan next time I go out, too." After a pause, Theo Rhodes asked again, "By the way, Professor Sinclair, what’s the second task you mentioned?"
With no one else in the car, Claire Sinclair finally explained, "In City E, there’s an internet-famous pharmacy selling a ’miracle drug.’ It supposedly cures all ailments, but a whistleblower claims it’s fake and has serious side effects. The problem is, the side effects only appear after six months, so patients have a lot of faith in the drug."
Hearing this, Theo Rhodes’s expression turned serious. "The people selling fake medicine are utterly depraved!"
Claire Sinclair nodded. "To make these patients believe the drug is fake, we have to find the factory. As long as we publicize the formula or the manufacturing process, experts will naturally step in to debunk it."
"Do we have an address for the factory?"
"We do, but to avoid alerting them, we can’t just charge in. Once we get to the hotel, I’ll send someone to scout it out first. Since we’re here posing as journalists, we’re bound to attract the attention of these criminals. We have to be careful with every step."
Theo Rhodes nodded emphatically. "Professor Sinclair, just tell me what you need me to do. I’ll give it my all."
Claire Sinclair said earnestly, "We still have a little time today. Once we’re settled in, we’ll go check out that pharmacy together."
"Okay," Theo Rhodes nodded.
They arrived at the hotel and each checked into their reserved room.
After entering her room, Claire Sinclair unpacked her luggage a bit, then said to Landon Winston, "Winston, could you please send someone to check out this address? Make sure they’re not seen."
Landon Winston glanced at the address on the paper and said rather casually, "Should I have someone sneak in for a look?"
Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes at him. "We don’t even know if we’re dealing with jackals or wild dogs yet. Get a lay of the land first."
"Fine. I’ll send someone over." Landon Winston turned and walked out.
Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh, flopped onto the bed, and sent a text to The Great Demon King Quincy: Adrian, I’ve made it to the hotel.
She waited for a long time, but there was no reply.
’What’s that guy so busy with now?’
’Whatever.’ Claire Sinclair sat back up, straightened her clothes, and walked out of the room.
She went to the room next door and rang the doorbell.
Theo Rhodes quickly came running out. He had changed into a new set of clothes and gave off an unusually strong fragrance.
Claire Sinclair wrinkled her nose. "What’s that smell on you?"
"It’s the sunscreen! The scent on this one is a bit strong, but it works great. Professor Sinclair, I was just about to bring it to you." As he spoke, Theo Rhodes handed her the women’s version of the sunscreen.
Claire Sinclair took the sunscreen. "How much was it?"
"Not expensive. Only 200."
"I’ll send you the money on WeChat. How do you use this?"
"Just spray it on your body like you’re spraying insecticide." As soon as he said it, he realized his description sounded a bit off-putting and corrected himself, "Not like insecticide, but... you know, just spray it on any skin that will be exposed to the sun."
Claire Sinclair nodded, went back into her room, and came out again after spraying on the sunscreen.
Next stop: the internet-famous pharmacy—Miracle Health Clinic.
