Chapter 560: Chapter 560: Incurable

When the two arrived near the Miracle Health Clinic, they saw a line dozens of meters long stretching out from the storefront. It nearly spilled into the street, but thankfully, a traffic officer was on the side directing things.

The line was almost entirely made up of middle-aged women and elderly people, with a few children mixed in, who had probably come with their grandparents.

Seeing the scene, Theo Rhodes couldn’t help but remark, "Are all these people terminally ill? Why else would they be in such a long line..."

Claire Sinclair swatted him on the arm and said, "Go try to walk in through the front door. See if they’ll let you in. Just say you want to buy some common medicine, like for a cold or a fever."

"Okay, I’m on it." Theo Rhodes ran off excitedly.

Claire Sinclair turned and went into a milk tea shop behind her. She ordered a roasted milk tea with no ice, then took out her phone and started scrolling through her social media feed.

「Meanwhile.」

Theo Rhodes walked up to the entrance of the Miracle Health Clinic. As he was about to go inside, a few of the middle-aged women in line immediately objected. "Hey, young man, can’t you see we’re in line? How can you just cut in!"

Theo turned around and smiled sheepishly. "My throat’s sore. I was hoping to buy some throat medicine. Do you sell that in here?"

The women all chimed in at once. "The Miracle Health Clinic has medicine for everything!"

"A sore throat could be throat cancer! You should hurry up and get in line!"

"If you’re lucky, you might get seen today. The sooner you get it treated, the better."

"Young man, hurry and get in line! Let Divine Doctor Holloway take a look at you. The medicine he prescribes is incredibly effective!"

’Throat cancer?’

’Are these women idiots?’

Theo Rhodes felt the urge to curse them out, but he remembered his task and held back. He forced a smile and said, "It’s just a regular sore throat. There are too many people in line here. I’ll go check another pharmacy."

The words had barely left his mouth when the women shot back at him.

"Young man, don’t waste your time. The Miracle Health Clinic is the only one on this entire street. The other pharmacies all sold fake medicine and went out of business, and the ones that didn’t have already moved away."

"That’s right! If you have throat cancer, you can only get treated at the Miracle Health Clinic. Even a hospital won’t be able to cure you."

"Young man, just get in line like you’re supposed to. Stop making things difficult for no reason."

...

Theo Rhodes let out a dry laugh. Without another word, he turned and walked away.

He quickly returned to the milk tea shop where Claire Sinclair was waiting. Theo recounted what had happened and concluded, "Professor Sinclair, those women have to be brainwashed. They’re completely beyond saving. We need to shut this place down soon, or more people are going to get hurt."

Claire rested her chin in her hand. "If I’m not mistaken," she said, "that quack doctor is probably exaggerating his patients’ common ailments. Then he prescribes some ordinary medicine to treat them, and of course, they get better. For example, you just have a simple sore throat, but those women immediately claimed you have throat cancer. That must mean someone before you fell for the same trick. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been so certain."

Theo said, "But I was just looking online back at the hotel, and I saw a few people with terminal illnesses claiming they’d been cured."

Claire Sinclair shook her head. "They’re either shills, or this clinic really does have some kind of miracle drug. But there’s no way it’s as effective as they claim, curing any and every disease."

Theo nodded in agreement. "If a miracle drug like that really existed, humanity would have escaped the laws of mortality long ago, and the Earth would have exploded from being overweight."

Claire Sinclair glanced at his face. ’This guy can be pretty amusing.’

After a moment of silence, she finally spoke. "No matter what, I’m seeing this through."

"Professor Sinclair, what do we do now?" Theo asked.
