I Married the President

Chapter 561: Undercover Visit

Chapter 561: Chapter 561: Undercover Visit

Claire Sinclair smiled. "You’ll cover the feature story on the watermelon contest tomorrow."

"Huh?" Theo Rhodes was stunned. He had never covered this kind of feature story before and had zero experience.

Claire Sinclair encouraged him. "For local events like this, the organizers usually send press releases to the media. You just need to rewrite the press release into a news article. It doesn’t have to be an in-depth piece, as long as it gets the word out."

"I get it. I should be able to handle that." Theo Rhodes was suddenly filled with confidence in his abilities.

The two of them sat in the bubble tea shop for a while. After finishing their drinks, they left.

However, their next destination wasn’t the hotel. Claire Sinclair didn’t say where they were going, simply telling Landon Winston to drive around the area.

Theo Rhodes couldn’t help but ask, "Professor Sinclair, where are we going now?"

Claire Sinclair stared out the window, seemingly searching for something. "Keep an eye out," she said casually. "If you see a pharmacy, we’ll stop."

"Why are you looking for a pharmacy?" Theo Rhodes was completely baffled.

"There’s a saying: ’competitors make the best foils.’ Let’s ask the other pharmacies; they might have some inside information."

"That makes so much sense! Why didn’t I think of that?"

Claire Sinclair glanced at him and gave a radiant smile. "You have to be good at shifting your perspective."

Theo Rhodes looked at her with admiration. "Professor Sinclair, how about I call you Master from now on instead?"

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "Is there a difference between ’Master’ and ’Professor’?"

"Of course there’s a difference! ’Master’ is more personal. Calling you ’Professor’ feels so formal, like I’m back in one of your classes. I’d be too intimidated to ask questions."

"Suit yourself."

’I have to admit, the kid’s got a way with words and a mind of his own. He’s definitely the person Teacher Hartwell would choose.’

They drove for about ten minutes before finally spotting a pharmacy.

Claire Sinclair got out of the car, walked straight into the pharmacy, and went up to the counter. "Hello," she said, "I’d like to buy some medicine for a stomachache."

The nurse asked with a smile, "Hello. Besides the stomach pain, are you having any diarrhea?"

Claire Sinclair shook her head. "It’s not that. It’s period cramps."

The nurse nodded in understanding. "Okay, I’ll go find some medicine for you." With that, she turned to get it.

Theo Rhodes asked, looking a bit awkward, "Master, are you not feeling well?"

Claire Sinclair just shook her head and didn’t reply.

When the nurse came back with the medicine, Claire Sinclair asked curiously as she paid, "Why are there so few pharmacies around here? I drove for over ten minutes just to find this one."

The nurse sighed. "Few is an understatement. Pretty much all the pharmacies in City E are about to go out of business. We don’t know how much longer we can last, either."

"Why do you say that?" Claire Sinclair immediately asked.

The nurse said, "It’s all because of that blasted Miracle Health Clinic. I heard they’re planning to expand across the city, so a lot of the traditional pharmacies have either moved away or stopped selling regular medicine, getting ready to become a Miracle Health Clinic franchise instead."

Just then, another nurse chimed in with her own complaints:

"That Miracle Health Clinic just sells health supplements; they can’t actually cure anything. But people are so gullible! They’ll go in with a simple cold and get duped into thinking they have a terminal illness. My neighbor is a perfect example. She had a cold but refused to go to a proper pharmacy or a hospital. She insisted on going to that sham of a clinic and spent tens of thousands on a single box of cold medicine and a pile of supplements. We sell that exact same cold medicine right here in our store! I told her, but she wouldn’t believe me. It’s just ridiculous."

The other nurse chimed in, "When you go home, you have to warn your families. Tell them not to believe any of it. All of us who actually sell medicine know the truth, but when we say so, nobody listens."
