Chapter 13: Chapter 13: New Talent

Mars went back to his room in order to get ready, leaving the women behind, together.

Before doing that though, he pleaded them with everything he had to not kill each other. They could curse, but not kill.

They reacted exactly the way each one of them would.

Moon only smiled, shrugging, saying she was not a problematic girl. She was sweet.

Willow didn’t answer, and was already pondering what book to read according to her expression.

Solaris straightaway cursed him, telling him what gave him the nerve to order her something.

Mars didn’t say anything else and went away. He was exhausted, and his back was still hurting.

He didn’t use the Healing Serum because Moon and Willow didn’t have that much on them, and he didn’t think his pain was bad enough to deserve that.

It was at too costly. More than 609 euros. That was barely his salary after full month of slavery.

So he gritted his teeth and applied an ointment on it, making the pain ease. He struggled a lot to apply it himself, he almost dislocated his fragile shoulder.

After taking a bath and wear back the clothes Solaris had given him and his own pant, Mars made sure the door of his room was locked before he sat on the floor of his humongous bed, looking at his system interface.

"Before anything else, I need to awaken my Talent and get the Serum recipe." He whispered to himself, before nodding to the system, "let’s start with talent."

At his words, a sphere spawned in front of him. It was intensely transparent, where the inside you could see dozens upon dozens of lights of different colors coiling upon each other like snakes.

The sight was dazzling, and Mars was instantly captivated by it.

[Drop your blood on the sphere, then use your mana to activate it.]

The System’s monotone voice brought his sense back to the current situation. He nodded with grim determination.

He bite his finger hard enough for blood to swell at the wound, wincing in pain at the same time.

He ignited it and let the blood fall on the sphere. The colors began to shift, taking a purple, pink, gold colors simultaneously.

Mars put his hand on the sphere and channeled his mana into it.

The sphere began to glow, and soon Mars himself began to feel something inside of him twist and swirl.

A warm sensation spread through his whole body, his mind going fuzzy drifting between consciousness and unconsciousness.

He didn’t know how much times passed, but everything ended as he snapped his eyes wide open.

A system panel flickered in front of him.

[Congratulations, Consort Fox, you have awakened a Talent.]

[Talent: Adaptative Hand-to-Hand (B rank)]

[Description: Your physical abilities are better than most, and it would continue to get better even with minimal effort.

You will learn hand-to-hand skills easier and even, with some enlightenment, create your own.]

After reading the system panel, Mars could indeed prove that it was true. He felt that his body has become stronger than before, and faster.

Just to be sure, he summoned his attributes.

[Physical Capability: 25 (+9); Mental Capability: 25; Mana: 10; Charm: 21 (+2).]

’A whole +9 is crazy. Even my Charm increased. Is this why all these Gifted were beautiful? Though some exceptions existed.’

Mars was pleased with his new talent. Not only it was a B rank talent, but a Combat one they would help me greatly.

Sighing in contentment, he used his Chosen Serum Recipe and asked for what Willow proposed.

[Food Serum (C rank)]

[Ingredients: Bluebird root (C~D rank); Blood of a Rottingskin Turtle at the Seeker rank, Holy Water of the Church of the Sun (C rank).]

[Process: You...]

Mars didn’t continue with the process, putting it aside for now. The most important things were to gather these ingredients and then he would take the time to study the process with Moon, Solaris and Willow.

After that, Mars took a paper and a pen, then write down the ingredients on it. Then he stood up, stretched his body and walked out the room.

He stepped into the living room and found Moon on her phone, frowning every now and then, probably reading the news.

Willow was reading. Mars tried to see what she was reading, but she actually hide the cover. Mars arched an eyebrow.

Solaris was not there.

"Where is Solaris?" He asked, walking towards them.

"I think she screamed about training because she is not lazy as us." Moon said, her eyes still on the phone.

Willow didn’t answer.

"I see. Well, here we go." He streched the paper towards Willow, causing Moon to peel her eyes from her phone, and looked at them, "These are the ingredients for the serum and the process. You know better than me so you can tell me, once I am back, where can I get them."

"How did you get this?" Moon asked, mildly surprised, reading the paper, "This far too much specific for someone who doesn’t know anything."

Willow was staring hard at him, obviously asking the same question.

Mars knew it was risky for him to give them the ingredients and process. Not only could they tell this to their families but also started to doubt him.

However, even though he couldn’t tell them the system, he wished to be honest with this least.

So he crouched down, and unexpectedly grabbed gentlly Moon’s face, bringing it close to his own.

The young woman’s purple eyes widened for a moment.

"We all have our own secrets, haven’t we?" He whispered to her, smiling brightly, "Just trust me. I want your wellbeing."

"Do you really?" Moon replied, her face slightly flushed.

"I can swear that I want it more than you can imagine. Not only you, but all of you three."

"You are getting greedy. Am I not enough for you, sweetheart?"

He smiled, "Are you?"

Moon’s face twitched. Before she answered, he turned towards Willow and nodded,

"Can I count on you, Willow?"

She stayed silent for a moment, looking at the two of them, then nodded, "Yes."

Mars muttered a thank you, looked one last time at Moon then walked out of the humongous house, going towards his old appartement.

Moon and Willow were behind, and the later transfixed her pink eyes on her.

"What?" Moon snapped.

"He is a decent man." Willow said, narrowing subtly her eyes, "Don’t toy with him."

"Since when do you care about someone being decent or no?" Moon sneered, "don’t act hypocrite."

"Since the man in question is my husband and someone clearly able to help me." Willow replied, "where will you find someone ready to heal someone who was ready to kill him after being forced into this mess where he could die anytime? Are you blind?"

Willow’s eyes turned dead cold, her killing intent slowly rising,

"Our own family discarded us because of that, yet he doesn’t look like one. So I won’t repeat myself, Moon Skygazer, don’t toy with him."

"Hey, you are slowly getting on my nerve." Moon hissed, her purple poisonous eyes glowing, "don’t butt into my affairs, alright? I do whatever I want and I dare you to do anything about it. Fucking bitch."

She stood up and walked away, going toward her room.

Willow was left alone, her eyes staring coldly at where Moon has left.

"I warned you, Moon. Mars will not be harmed by anyone. He is the only one with the potential ability to accept me."

’Something even my mother never did.’

At that, she continued her reading, trying to calm herself from murdering Moon.

’You are the bitch.’
