I Married Three Calamities (And Got A System For It)
Chapter 6: I will play with youChapter 6: Chapter 6: I will play with you
’...Fuck me...’
Mars thought as he swallowed hard, feeling Moon’s body far too close to his. He locked his hazel eyes on her purple ones and saw nothing but amusement.
There was no real desire there. Not sexual desire, at least, more the kind of amusement that came from putting someone in an awkward or difficult position.
The situation eerily brought back memories of a scandal he’d once read about online, involving Moon. One where she’d lured a husband into a trap only to toy with him, then leak the videos afterward.
That memory snapped him back to his senses, reminding him this was likely just another one of Moon’s games.
Still, despite all of that, Mars had already decided he was done being on the receiving end of every situation.
Not just this one. Life in general.
He remembered every time he’d smiled at some unruly customer, despite wanting to grab a chair and crack it over their head. Or every time he’d been tempted to "accidentally" push his boss down the stairs, just so that fat bastard would know what it felt like to have his back ache after hours of standing.
But every time, he’d held himself back, knowing the world wouldn’t think twice before crushing an orphan with nothing to his name but debt.
Not a world where people could destroy skyscrapers with a flick of their fingers, or where monsters lurked just outside the cities and in Warrens.
But now, with the System he’d just awakened, and married to three of the most dangerous, most disliked women of his generation...
...Mars knew it was time to become a different man. A better one.
And that man wasn’t the type to back down when a beautiful woman decided to flirt with him.
So, after mentally screaming at himself to move, Mars moved, wrapping his arms around Moon’s waist and pulling her even closer against him.
Moon’s purple eyes widened slightly at the motion, her mouth parting in a small "O" shape.
Mars’s heart pounded so loudly it felt like it was trying to claw its way out of his chest. He was shaking, badly.
Touching an heiress of a Prime Family without consent was the kind of thing that could get him killed a hundred times over.
But reminding himself that Moon was, technically, his wife, he gathered his courage and spoke:
"Two can play this game." He said, fighting to steady the quiver in his voice, "But you should be ready to face the same treatment."
It took Moon only seconds to grasp the situation, and she nearly burst out laughing. But she held it in and studied Mars intently for the first time, noticing his rather handsome features.
"Oh, sweetheart, I honestly didn’t know you had this in you." She said, smiling, "Are you sure you can handle playing with me?"
"From what I’ve noticed, it’s either play with you, or get played by you." Mars’s tone carried a note of quiet indignation, "So I’d rather play."
"Then I hope you’re ready." Moon said, leaning in and whispering with a laugh in her voice, "But first, stop trembling, will you? I’m not going to eat you. I’m your lovely wife, aren’t I?"
Mars’s face flushed slightly, and he didn’t respond.
Moon giggled, then broke the hug. She looked at him once more before waving goodbye, heading toward her room,
"Good night, sweetheart." She said, "You’re welcome in my room, anytime. Who knows, you might catch me in a very interesting state."
She said the last part in her most coquettish tone, laughing even harder as she left.
Mars nearly collapsed to the floor after she disappeared, his heart still pounding.
He looked down at his pants and noticed a bulge.
"Fuck, natural reaction or not, this is bloody embarrassing." He sighed again, dragging a hand down his face, "I’m afraid of Solaris’s constant anger and the silent threat Willow radiates, but Moon, goddammit, she terrifies me most, despite being the most welcoming of the three."
And now that he’d agreed to play her game, Mars had no idea what to expect.
He shook his head and managed to calm both his little brother and his racing heart. He walked toward a room, any room would do, just to lie down after such a shocking night.
But he’d only taken one step before the System chimed.
DING!
[Congratulations, you have completed your First Quest!]
[You have received your rewards: Poison Resistance (D Rank), Massage Talent (D Rank)]
The notification at least brought a smile to Mars’s face.
’If it’s like this every time, I’ll be the best bloody husband on Earth. Just wait.’
...
Mars was now lying on his bed after a quick shower. He didn’t know what to say. Everything around him looked so expensive he felt a bit lost.
But he wasn’t complaining.
Now refreshed, Mars was ready to look into his system a bit more, and think about how he’d handle the mess surrounding him.
So, first,
’Can you show me my profile?’
[Yes.]
And it did.
[Name: Mars Fox]
[Age: 18]
[Title: Consort Fox]
[Talents: Massage (D Rank)]
[Special: Poison Resistance (D Rank)]
[Rank: Seeker]
[Gift: Shackles of Emotions (D Rank)
First Aspect -> Emotion Sense (Passive)]
[Physical Capability: 16; Mental Capability: 25; Mana: 10; Charm: 19.]
[Dream Core: 0/500]
[The average is 15 across all stats.]
Mars studied his profile, and after the System explained the attributes in more detail, he wasn’t particularly surprised.
Physical Capability grouped together strength, speed, and constitution. Given that he hadn’t exactly had time to exercise, thanks to his busy schedule, that tracked.
Mental Capability combined Will, Perception, and Intelligence, and the fact that he was ten points above average there was more than he’d expected.
’At least there’s that.’ He thought, pleased.
Mana and Charm were self-explanatory. Mana was essential for using any Aspect, aside from passive ones like his own, which made those rarer.
The higher one’s affinity with mana, the greater their attack power and endurance in battle.
But Mars’s talent there was clearly below average, something he’d already suspected when he’d awakened the day before.
’Let’s not dwell on it too much. With the system, it’ll all change, hopefully.’ He told himself, glancing over at his Charm stat and smiling at his own handsomeness.
He’d always known he was above average there. After all, despite his poverty, he’d managed to land two relationships in his life.
Sure, they’d both ended badly, but that wasn’t the point.
Mars chuckled, trying not to dwell too long on those traumatic memories.
After that, he asked the system a few more questions, gaining a better grasp of how it worked, before finally closing the interface.
Mars took a deep breath, staring up at the ceiling. He was genuinely exhausted, but also genuinely afraid of being murdered by one of these unpredictable women sometime during the night.
It was a real struggle. But eventually, he couldn’t fight the pull of sleep any longer, and found himself drifting off.
Then, unexpectedly, his thoughts turned to his late mother.
Mars smiled, his eyes slowly closing,
"...mother...I am married to three calamities..."
His eyes closed completely, and dreams took over his consciousness.
"...and got a system for it."
