I Reincarnated As A Dragon With A Devourer System
Chapter 46: Dragon HeartHe stared at the status window; it seemed that evolution had brought another surprise.

The young dragon wagged his tail curiously; he wanted to see the new ability he had acquired.

’Dragon Heart... Is this like an organ that produces mana?’
Noir closed his eyes to feel his heart, which had undergone a major change with this racial evolution, and what he saw left him perplexed.
"Hahaha... I-I’m starting to understand why dragons are so overpowered; this is way too OP."
With every heartbeat, mana surged through his entire body, slowly strengthening his organs, muscles, and scales.
He could even feel his mana reserves growing even further; his energy recovered much more quickly, and he sensed that using the Dragon Tongue placed less of a strain on his body... though Noir wasn’t entirely sure.
"KAKAKA! This is even more incredible..."
He didn’t finish his sentence when he realized something EXTREMELY important: is... Did he speak?
"Hmm... hello."
The young black dragon’s red eyes widened. He just spoke! His voice sounded a little strange, but he didn’t care. Now he can communicate!
’Ha... I wonder how many surprises I’ll have today: I’m evolving, I’m gaining a new ability, and now I can talk. What’s missing? Meeting some stupid goddess who’ll give me a blessing?’
Noir shook his head with a small smile at the absurdity of his thoughts.
He looked around; he wanted to examine the other changes he had undergone throughout this racial evolution, but he had to keep moving before more monsters appeared.

Several days passed as the cherry blossom forest gradually faded away.
The pink petals disappeared among the trees as Noir made his way forward, accompanied by Uki and the golden sphere.
Every so often, the young dragon would glance sideways at his wings. He was still having trouble getting used to his new body size; his strides were longer, and his wings felt heavier.
Even the way the mana flowed through his scales had changed. It wasn’t a huge difference. But it was enough to remind him that he had grown again.
Noir smiled happily and, lifting his chin slightly, was no longer the little black dragon who had been reincarnated in the cave.
He was now a young black dragon, a creature far more imposing than that tiny hatchling that had emerged from the cave months earlier.
So he expected at least a modicum of respect before he had to dish out a few disciplinary tail swipes.
The golden sphere circled briefly around one of his horns. As if to say, "You still have a long way to go before you’re treated as such."
"I know..."
The young dragon let out a laugh.
"Let me enjoy the moment. It’s not something I get to experience every day—or are you just jealous of me?"
The golden sphere appeared before him and emitted several flashes showing a small dragon fighting against a door, but it wasn’t just one: two doors appeared—the ones he had found when he arrived at the Magical Valley.
But! What the golden sphere didn’t anticipate was that Noir wouldn’t feel ashamed; that was a thing of the past; now he is a True Dragon Child.
’Show a little respect.’
And he kept walking with his head held high, like the proud dragon he is.
They continued walking for several more days.
Little by little... the landscape began to change once again.
The enormous cherry trees gradually gave way to much taller, slimmer trees.
Their roots extended straight down into small channels of crystal-clear water that crisscrossed the ground in all directions.
The air felt different.
It was more humid and much cooler.
Noir lifted his head slightly; an unfamiliar scent filled the air; it didn’t smell like flowers or snow.
It smelled... like rain.
Then he heard the first sound.
Ploc.
A tiny drop fell onto a giant leaf floating peacefully on a pond.
Then another, and another. Until a steady rain enveloped the entire large pond.
It wasn’t a storm; it was a gentle, silent, almost soothing rain.
Noir slowly extended one of his claws. A raindrop fell onto it.
It wasn’t cold. Nor was it completely ordinary water.
Inside that drop, tiny bluish sparks glowed slowly before disappearing onto his scales.
The young dragon’s eyes opened slightly.
"...Mana?"
The golden sphere responded with a faint glimmer.
The young dragon looked up. Every drop falling from the sky contained a tiny amount of mana. It was as if the sky itself were feeding that pond.
Noir stood motionless for several seconds. This place was completely different from anywhere he had ever seen before.
Huge round leaves covered the surface of the water.
The streams meandered among gigantic roots. Long aquatic plants danced in the rain while small, colorful fish swam through the water with utter tranquility.
It looked like a forest born among lakes—a world where water was just as important as the land.
"It’s beautiful..."
Uki walked to the edge of one of the ponds and looked at his reflection. Then he tried to catch the raindrops falling from the sky.
Noir let out a little laugh.
"You definitely haven’t changed."
They continued on their way.
And then... his Draconic Senses picked up on something.
Very far away.
Far, far beyond that pond—it wasn’t a monster.
It was... the absence of mana.
It wasn’t that the mana had disappeared completely, but rather that it was much scarcer than was already all too evident, and now that he had evolved, he felt it even more keenly.
Noir stopped. His breathing returned to normal as well.
The young black dragon immediately understood what that sensation meant.
The Magic Valley... It was coming to an end.
For the first time since he had left the cave, the world beyond began to feel real.
Noir gazed at the horizon hidden behind the rain of mana. A small smile spread across his face.
"We’re almost there."
The wind gently rustled the forest’s enormous leaves.
The raindrops continued to fall in silence.
And, for the first time... the outside world seemed to be waiting for him.
