I See Murders Before They Happen
Chapter 152 - 150: Where Would Jiang Junrui Hide?Chapter 152: Chapter 150: Where Would Jiang Junrui Hide?
Fengjiang Group.
Jiang Junrui was working in his office when the door was suddenly pushed open.
He looked up to see Jiang Yaozu barge in.
His secretary had tried to stop him, but failed.
"Mr. Jiang, I’m sorry. I couldn’t stop him," the secretary said.
Jiang Junrui glanced at Jiang Yaozu, then said to his secretary, "You can go for now."
The secretary left, pulling the door closed behind her.
Jiang Yaozu immediately strode to the desk. "Pack your things and leave Jiangcheng right now. Your older brother is in the parking garage. Everything has been arranged. The two of you need to leave immediately."
Jiang Junrui just stared at him.
Jiang Yaozu said, "Now! Right this instant!"
Seeing how truly frantic he was, Jiang Junrui stood up. "What’s wrong?"
The words had barely left his mouth when the sound of police sirens drifted up from downstairs.
The office window was open, and despite the high floor, the sound was perfectly clear.
Jiang Yaozu glanced out the window. "Su Miaoyi handed over the video. I just got word."
"What?" Jiang Junrui immediately headed for the door.
He and Jiang Yaozu left the office together.
"Take the private elevator straight to the parking garage," Jiang Yaozu said. "They can’t access it. I’ve already positioned people in the garage. They’ll make sure you get out. Just do as you’re told."
The Jiang family residence was very close to the Fengjiang Group headquarters.
Jiang Yaozu happened to be at the company when he received the news.
He had arranged everything on the spot, even having his eldest son brought over.
Once inside the elevator, Jiang Junrui asked, "What exactly is going on?"
"I’m not entirely sure," Jiang Yaozu said. "But they have the video. I heard the password for the USB drive has been cracked. Didn’t you get the news that Su Miaoyi was in Jiangcheng? What are your subordinates even doing? She was on your turf, and you couldn’t even keep tabs on one person, and you’re asking me what happened?"
Jiang Junrui didn’t say a word.
He truly hadn’t received any news today.
’And Su Miaoyi held onto that video for so long. We’ve been on good terms recently, so why would she suddenly hand it over?’
"You saw the videos that Mo Xiaoxiao had before they were destroyed, and she might have had more than just those," Jiang Yaozu said. "That’s all hard evidence. The Jiang family can’t be saved. As for those connected to us... forget about them saving the Jiang family, they can barely save themselves."
Jiang Junrui was silent.
Jiang Yaozu looked at him and clapped a hand on his shoulder. "I know you’ve been unhappy with me all these years. We’ve never gotten along as father and son. Outside of putting on a front for others, we’ve never had a proper conversation in private."
Jiang Junrui looked at him.
Jiang Yaozu continued, "But you were right about one thing. The Jiang family line cannot end. As long as you’re alive, it doesn’t matter where you are. Your brother is mentally challenged, so your mother and I worried about him more, and we neglected you. But your mother is gone, and soon, your father will be too."
"You two are the only blood relatives you’ll have left in this world. Think of your brother as the last thing your mother and I have left for you. Treat him well, all right?"
Jiang Junrui watched him, saying nothing until the elevator reached the underground parking garage.
The elevator doors opened.
Outside stood more than twenty men in black.
Jiang Junrui walked out.
Jiang Yaozu followed him. "Jun Rui, he’s your older brother. Even though he’s mentally challenged, he’s still your brother. He’s been good to you since you were little, always saving the best food and toys for you."
Jiang Junrui didn’t slow his pace. He saw his family’s car.
He also saw his older brother peeking out, looking for him.
He said, "Father, the only trace of warmth I’ve ever felt in this family came from my brother. My parents, from the moment I was born, treated me as nothing more than a tool to take care of him."
"In fact, if you hadn’t constantly whispered in my ear, trying to brainwash me, my relationship with my brother would be even better than it is now. I wouldn’t have stayed away from home for years. I would have willingly taken care of him for the rest of my life, instead of being reminded of the sole reason for my existence every time I see him."
His tone was completely flat, and his pace never slowed. "When it comes to the Jiang family’s business, it’s just you and me. In my brother’s condition, he couldn’t have been involved. What could possibly happen to him? The worst is that he’ll have no family to look after him anymore."
"You received the news early, but you didn’t tell me right away. Instead, you notified the family first. You waited until my brother’s car was already here before you came to get me."
"You were afraid I would leave on my own and abandon my brother."
"If he doesn’t leave, he’ll live. If I don’t leave, I’m a dead man."
"If the Jiang family didn’t need me to carry on the family line, Mr. Jiang, would you have left me behind and fled with your precious eldest son?"
Jiang Yaozu said, "I made the optimal arrangements."
Jiang Junrui ignored him.
"Jun Rui!" Jiang Yaozu’s eldest son was happy to see Jiang Junrui.
He hadn’t seen him in a long time.
Jiang Junrui’s brow furrowed, but he kept walking forward.
Just then, the sound of sirens echoed from the parking garage entrance.
"Hurry up and go," Jiang Yaozu said.
Jiang Junrui took a few quick strides and got into the car.
Several men in black behind him also got into the adjacent cars.
Another group of men in black stayed behind.
The car started.
Inside the car, Jiang Junrui changed into the clothes that had been prepared for him and put on a hat.
"Jun Rui."
"Brother," Jiang Junrui said. "Let’s play a game. Until we’re out of this parking garage, don’t say a word. Just copy everything I do. If you can do that, I’ll buy you your favorite toy, okay?"
"Okay."
Jiang Junrui managed a slight smile. "Then let’s start now."
"Okay."
The police officers from the elevator area ran over. "Police! Don’t move!"
Jiang Yaozu took one look and ran, taking his men with him.
Lu Zhishen spotted Jiang Yaozu immediately and gave chase.
The entire Fengjiang Group building was surrounded.
The sounds of fighting and arrests soon echoed through the parking garage.
Su Miaoyi wasn’t authorized to carry a gun, and the operation was dangerous, so she remained in a car outside the Fengjiang Group building.
She was waiting for news from inside.
Wearing an earpiece, she could listen to their communications and assess the situation.
Ten minutes passed. Suddenly, two cars burst out of the parking garage entrance.
They plowed recklessly through the roadblock at the entrance.
As the first two cars broke through, a third one emerged, crashing through the entrance barrier and speeding away.
The special police immediately gave chase in their vehicles.
Su Miaoyi watched the car’s driver and the two people in the back seat. One of them was wearing a suit, and his profile looked like Jiang Junrui.
’That’s not Jiang Junrui,’ the voice in her head said coldly.
Su Miaoyi didn’t say anything.
It really wasn’t Jiang Junrui.
The resemblance was strong, but she saw clearly that it wasn’t him.
She immediately pressed her earpiece. "Captain Kang. Jiang Junrui is still in the parking garage. The man in the car that broke through the roadblock isn’t him."
Kang Ting responded at once.
In the car, Su Miaoyi considered the situation. ’The parking garage is huge. The main building is also being swept and arrests are being made. Where could Jiang Junrui be hiding?’
’Looks like someone leaked the information,’ the voice in her head said coolly. ’If we’d been even a little later, he probably would have actually gotten away.’
"Too many people are involved," Su Miaoyi said. "Once the Jiang family is arrested, they might expose even more people—ones who weren’t in the video."
